During
a
recent
trip
to
the
Takayama
Area
(Hirayuonsengo)
my
spouse
needed
to
see
a
doctor
to
acquire
a
rescue
inhaler
due
to
complications
from
previously
treated
strep
throat
infection.
The
hospital
was
busy
at
9:50am
with
mostly
elderly
people
and
parents
with
children.
Despite
the
swarm
people,
we
were
greeted
by
an
Assistant
and
taken
to
the
reception
area.
We
were
provided
forms
that
were
written
in
Japanese
and
English.
Prior
to
arriving
we
translated
a
few
phrases
using
Google
Translate
and
saved
screenshots
to
show
the
receptionist.
This
proved
to
be
very
helpful.
The
receptionist
made
a
copy
of
the
Passport
and
we
were
provided
of
an
estimation
of
charges,
(payable
by
yen
or
credit
card.)
Next,
we
were
escorted
to
another
waiting
area
teeming
with
people
waiting
for
services.
After
my
spouse's
vitals
were
taken
and
recorded,
we
were
escorted
to
the
next
waiting
area
by
the
doctor's
cube.
After
a
short
wait
(perhaps
the
doctor
was
reviewing
the
intake
records)
we
were
seen
by
the
doctor.
The
doctor
spoke
to
us
in
very
clear
English
and
was
thorough
in
her
questioning
to
determine
the
best
course
of
treatment
for
my
spouse.
The
doctor
did
not
seem
rushed
to
prescribe
medicine
and
provided
us
with
a
few
options.
We
determined
that
the
rescue
inhaler
would
be
the
best
course
of
action.
After
leaving
the
doctor's
cube
we
were
escorted
to
the
reception
area,
payment
area,
and
pharmacy.
The
total
cost
for
the
treatment
and
medicine
was
about
$210.00.
Doctor's
visit
$100.00
and
medicine
(2
inhalers)
$110.00.
Total
time
involved,
less
than
2
hours.
Considering
how
busy
the
hospital
was
this
wasn't
a
problem!
If
you
are
sick
or
in
need
of
care,
I
would
not
hesitate
to
go
to
this
hospital
between
the
hours
of
8:00am-11:00am
for
outpatient
care.
The
staff
was
attentive,
kind,
friendly,
and
professional.
Excellent
job
Takayama
Red
Cross
Hospital!
