one od the best experience of my travels. felt like i had gone back to Japanese days of olde. not only did this have amazing views, but the back yard led directly to a round-the-hill hiking trail that was lovely. perfect mix of nature, tranquility and city living.

Like many others, I await Japan's re-opening to tourists from these long months of pandemic lockdown. In revisiting memories of our visit to Hide and Takayama, I have been reminded of how I will revisit as soon as rules permit. Mountain air so fresh, the cutest quirky township I have ever been to in Japan, the best HIDE BEEF (better than KOBE BEEF I felt) dinners and truly the loveliest accommodation we (the family) have ever had the pleasure of staying in.

It was a fantastic place to stay. The owner make sure we had arrived safely at the place. I think it was a very late evening. Breakfast is great since we had asked them to prepare muslim meal for us, that is all food do not contain any alcohol, no pork and its by product and all meat including beef/chicken to be slaugthered by muslim. Fish is ok. The place sit halfway to top of hill with local autumn landscape makes up the colours. Lovely setting. We had a short hike down to the center for city tour. Yeah. But why do i still gave it a 4 star with all my compliments? We only manage to stay just for 1 night. Definitely not enough as we are on a travel schedule. Hopefully someday.. Will return here soon...

It was a wonderful experience staying in this traditional house on top of a hill. It snowed when we were there and it was magical, the whole house and it’s gardens were blanketed in white and you are literally nestled amongst the snow. So beautiful! Breakfast is delivered to the home daily and it was delicious! We also got to access the onsen in a ryokan nearby for free. A very spacious home, good for a family.

Iori Shiroyama was an amazing place to stay and the house adjoins a nature reserve providing a tranquil environment. Breakfast was provided which was truly amazing and traditional. Highly recommended.

I couldn't have booked a better place to enjoy Takayama during the Autumn Festival. Not only was the house, koi pond, gardens, and view amazing, but Shinji provided excellent, genuine service, from helping us with our luggage forwarding, to explaining the festival and local restaurants etc. to picking us up and dropping us off, to following up with us to ensure our needs were met. My only regret here was that we didn't book this place for longer, because we didn't know it would be such an amazing experience. 11/10 WILL BOOK AGAIN

Y'all you need to understand that this property is a stand alone house on a hill overlooking Takayama. Fifteen minute walk to the old part of town. It's a beautiful traditional house with a garden and koi pond, along with a deck overlooking the city and bordering a park. Peaceful, beautiful, perfect. Excellent customer service beyond our expectations. A five star experience 10/10.

We're still there but...I highly recommend it. Nature and small city life all in one.
