The best soba noodles I've had in my life. We ordered the mushroom and vegetables hot noodles and wow, can't recommend it enough. Each kind of mushrooms had a completely different texture and flavour. This is a Michelin restaurant at a very reasonable price. Don't miss the soba ice cream, a very good end to the whole experience. The summum bonum of noodles in Takayama.

So far the best soba I’ve ever eaten!! The soyu soup based is so good until I finished the soup!! I tried the hot one and my friend tried the cold one. Both are really really delicious! Would definitely come back!

Very delicious soba (buckwheat) noodle. The noodle is handmade in 4th generation. They don't have English menu but pictures and the lady speak English and is very helpful and friendly. We had hot soba noodle with a lot of mushrooms. My wife has a version with tempura. They have also cold soba but since it was a cold day we were very happy with our hot one.

山菜ざる蕎麦 (zaru soba using wild vegetables from the mountains) was really good. The place is extremely popular among tourists maybe because of the Michelin review. But it doesn't mean the taste is not authentic. I have been living in Japan for more than 4 years now, and it is one of the best soba shop I had the chance to visit !

Great and famous delicious man made hida soba served here. I've tried the prawn tempura soba since it's New Year in Japan and it was so delicious and tasty. Highly recommended. They serve both hot and cold soba.

Handmade soba (buck wheat noodles) I have tried a few in takayama and this one was the best. I ordered the vegetable cold soba and it was very flavourful and the noodles were cooked to the perfect texture. For soba noodles it is slightly more expensive than other places though.

Tempura hot soba with a soft boiled egg on the side. Comfort food for a cool autumn weekend in a warm and cosy local popular eatery.

Very special Soba noodle. First of all, choose Hot / Cold(pic is cold) Second, choose the noodle what you want Third, Enjoy it like locals. They dont have Eng menu. But some employee is very good for Eng comm. The person who made Soba noodle is seem like very professional. Inside the kitchen, there are lots of Pic making noodle. Ah! Toilet is so~~~~~ high tech. If you want to know the reason, visit Sumikyu

Vvvvery good 😍 Some people said soba is overcooked here BUT soba here is high quality because of high content of buckwheat flour inside 80%! You really can feel taste of buckwheat 👍🏽 And if you would buy 100% buckwheat soba you would find it’s impossible to make it gummy and al dente…. In all other places you would get maximum 20% buckwheat in the soba and other is wheat

Super delicious soba! The cold soba has a very springy texture and the batter on the tempura was light yet yummy! It was so good that we ordered second bowl of the cold soba !! The hot soba with vegetables and wild mushroom was also very yummy. The soup was flavourful and tasty! The couple running the store was patient and courteous. Explaining the menu in very clear English!

Liked the handmade soba very much. Texture is very different to others that I have had. Tempura was a little bit oily but very fresh prawns. Friendly owner. Go early - closes when sold out.

This was our favorite place for soba noodles throughout our 2-week trip through Japan. We had the shrimp tempura and veggie soba ramen options, both were fantastic. The buckwheat tea and ice cream were incredible as well. The venue is also very authentic and warm.

We snagged the last couple handmade servings of soba in this fourth generation mom and pop. Mom is incredibly kind and welcoming (and speaks decent English). Pop makes the soba every morning and is the creative spirit. The music is great and the food simple and delicious.

A soba shop to die for. Run by the 4th generation owner, the noodles are made in the shop.

Amazing soba and i am not even kidding! The soyu base is so unique and tasty! We ordered both the ebi cold soba and the mountain vegetables warm soba. Ive had several sobas in several other places in Nagano and Tokyo but this was completely different. They make the soba themselves and its a little finer and springy in texture! It is a cozy, hidden hideout, one will definitely miss it on the street unless you already decided to visit. The menus are in japanese, but ordering can be easily done by pointing the dishes. The mother is kind and spoke little english. They are a family business and i believe it is the 4th generation. There were a mix of foreigners and locals in the restaurant and this restaurant was also featured in the Mechelin guide. Love it!!!
