Desserts aren’t bad, but coffee is not worth it. The staff were rude and seemed upset to be so busy- but I’m not sure what else they expect working at this location? It was nice but probably wouldn’t come back as there are good cakes elsewhere with better coffee. The atmosphere also was just okay- but their second floor was closed, so perhaps there is more to see there.

(Translated by Google) The selection of desserts is dazzling, and they all have their own characteristics. The coffee is delicious, and it is a good place to rest after strolling in the town. (Original) 甜點的選擇琳瑯滿目、也都各有特色,咖啡很好喝,是在小鎮上逛一逛之後可以歇腳的好地方。

The first Cafe in Estonia. The atmosphere is wonderful and the prices are reasonable. However, I didn’t like the coffee at all. There was very few coffee in it I realized and told them to change it. The staff needs to be more motivated and prepare the best coffee of Tallinn everytime when it is asked. I am sure this place has the best coffee in Estonia but I was not lucky to get that coffee. Let’s says hopefully next time. I am sorry but I can’t give 5 to a place only with a perfect decoration.

It was established in 1864 and the oldest operating cafe in Tallinn and Estonia. The Cafe is next to the chocolate shop where you can buy the big brand chocolate in Estonia -Martsipan ,actually they are in the same location. Vana Tallinn coffee is typical coffee with vana Tallinn liqueur inside. You can give a try if high percentage alcohol is okay with you.

Historic cafe famous for their pastries. I also recommend the a la carte cafe menu and love their weekday lunch specials. Interior design is beautiful - take notice of the ornate ceiling and don't miss the coffee cup/spoons carousel in the window.

Beautiful cafe, a great stop for a rest. We only ordered the pistachio cake and special Tallinn coffee. Coffee was interesting. Cake was so-so.

It says on the door that this is Tallinn’s oldest cafe since 1864! My cake was extraordinary, and the coffee is excellent. I ordered a large coffee where they added more water to it. I requested whip cream on top to balance out with my intense dark cake. I am confident should there be intense coffee and less water, it would be excellent. I should’ve opted for a small coffee or double espresso at least. The ambiance is very classic, and the line to order is very long! All the staff are experienced elderly women. Something I really miss, and yet appreciate these days! Highly recommended!

My favourite place in Tallinn. Staff is so fast and kind, food and dessers are delicious. Coffee is the TOP! They also have a corner for kids and many toys. Our toddler also enjoys her visit.

It's a comfortable café to sit with your friends and gossip while indulging in some delicious cakes and gaining a few extra calories. Personally, I loved the chocolate cake with liqueur.

This is my second visit to the oldest cafe in Estonia (established in 1864) from my two-day stay in Tallinn. Wow. All their items are amazing!!! I tried a total of 6 pastry items and they’re all tasty and amazingly made! For example, the Chocolate Croissant still retains its flakiness even after the chocolate is drizzled on it. The atmosphere is very cozy and warm, so it’s perfect for taking a rest after walking the cobblestone roads around the city in winter. EASILY a definitely must for anyone visiting Tallinn!!!

Cafe Maiasmokk, Pikk street 16, is the oldest operating cafe in Tallinn. Cafe has been in same street from year 1864. The cafe offers fine coffees, pastries, marzipan figures and chocolates. Great location, amazing atmosphere. Highly recommended!

The best Cheese Snack I ever had. The coffee is of high quality. Delicious bakery. Good smoothies. Nice atmosphere. Very classique design and it is the oldest deli in Tallinn. You have to try it out.

Quaint cafe with a vintage feel to it. One can even look at the marzipan exhibits and get to learn about the history of Estonian marzipan here. They have an amazing collection of cute marzipan sweets on sale besides the regular cakes and pastries.

This is a quaint historical cafe in the heart of the historical downtown Tallinn. The “museum room” is nothing special, but the atmosphere, interior, and location are all cool.

One of the oldest coffee places in Tallinn. This historical place, with plenty of delicious sweets, pastry and salty snacks it’s at least one visit worth. Quite A tourist place but the old interiors and painted walls give me a really atheistic feeling here. Stuff is friendly but I can clearly feel how they used to quick an fast service. Coffee is good, not the best in town and the cardamom pastry was a dream!

What a delight in pastries! Their cheesecakes are so delicious, we ate here 2 times and tried their variety of cheesecakes and apple pastries. It was a great decision to return. Oldest cafe in Tallin.

"Classical" cafe in German-Austrian style, one of the oldest in Tallinn. Wide choice, excellent coffee&tea, drinks etc.A really nice place to stop by when exploring Old Town. One personal suggestion if you would: try a "kilupirukas" [translated as "sprat pie" or "pie with anchovies"]. Other things you could try elsewhere, this one - only here. It's not sweet, though. :-) but very tasty and pleasant indeed.

A nice vintage cafe to have a quick breakfast and coffee. Located in historic area and near the harbor. So you will have a nice walk until you reach it if you came to Talinn with a cruise.

Excellent pastry and coffee shop still showing its elegant lineage. I skipped my hotel breakfast each day in favor of coffee and pastries here. Locals, students and tourists give it a warm, lively vibe. Recommended.

The oldest cafe of Tallinn wonderful place to enjoy a decent coffee and some delicious cakes or pastries. The Interieur is a feast for the eyes. The service is very friendly. There is a wide selection of food. Definitely a place to be in Tallinn.

The oldest cafe in Tallinn. We took two cakes and cappuccino. The wooden furnitures were fascinating. The location is great. Its located near central hall. It's a great place for having coffee in the evening. If there is little rain, then the atmosphere is mesmerizing! Highly recommended.

Overpriced for their products. You can get the same marzipans and chocolates in other stores. The cakes taste super plain and are quite expensive. Vana Tallinn chocolate cake does not taste like Vana Tallinn at all. Service is horrible, they don’t clean the terrace from previous clients, they don’t even give you the spoons and other stuff, you have to do it by yourself. Totally a touristic trap.

  • 5/5 Abby H. 1 year ago on Google
The chocolate cake and coffee match so well. Highly recommend here for tea time after long walking. It heals.

  • 3/5 Marion 1 year ago on Google
The interior is beautiful indeed, but neither the pastries nor the service are up to the hype. The cakes taste plain and are served on a piece of plastic, without a spoon that one has to get themselves. There are much nicer places in Tallinn on every level, this one unfortunately ressembles a tourist trap.

They have delicious desserts, the staff is very attentive when they take your order. What they should improve is having more options when you want to have a coffee in the afternoon, that is, they sell what is available at the moment and there is very little left. Finally I recommend having a cup of chocolate! excellent aroma and taste

Visited this coffee place recently and found the experience to be a mixed bag. The coffee was just average, and the pretzel turned out to be quite dry. However, the redeeming factors were the pleasant interior ambiance and the exceptionally friendly customer service.

Really cute cafe, they have everything you need for a nice breakfast or for a quick afternoon snack. The quality of the foods and beverages is really high. If you are a tourist they also have lots of food souvenirs for a good price.

Maybe not quite as good as it's reputation. Espresso macchiato was good but not exceptional. Same as chocolate cake. Rich and decadent but not exceptional. Worth the visit for sure but be prepared for a crowd. Perhaps consider coming in less busy hours. The architecture and history is the best part. The place is beautiful with its glass ceiling and intricate old wood details.

One of the few places open at 9am for us early birds looking for a coffee and a pastry! Was very quiet for about 30 minutes then started filling up fast. The other floors open at 10, while the marzipan room opened at 11.

Beautiful, overpriced. Historic place, with a historic vibe. Old school wallpaper, old furtniture, beautiful altogether. Nice music, good service. Located in the heart of Tallinn it it a cafe in one side and a chocolate shop in the other. Regarding the café the decoration is nice and cozy and you will have a good time in winter, however prices are a bit high in comparison with other cafes. Regarding the chocolate shop it is the same deal, you will find the chocolate bars cheaper in other supermarket so I would recommend buying the truffles instead.
