Approaching Tallinn Town Hall, you are immediately captivated by its magnificent facade. The architecture is a blend of Gothic and Baroque styles, adorned with intricate details, ornate decorations, and a towering spire. The well-preserved exterior transports visitors back in time, allowing them to marvel at the craftsmanship of the era. Upon entering the Town Hall, you are welcomed into a world of historical significance. The interior is equally impressive, with beautifully preserved halls, grand staircases, and impressive artworks. The Great Hall, in particular, showcases the rich heritage of Tallinn, providing a glimpse into the city's governance and the grandeur of its past. Throughout the year, Tallinn Town Hall also hosts various events, including concerts, exhibitions, and cultural festivities. These events further enhance the visitor experience, offering a chance to witness the Town Hall come alive with activity and celebration.

Most photos and videos are the views from up the town hall’s tower, which I think is worth the visit. There are about 150 plus steps upwards. And while you are walking up, do notice the wooden flat planks, which back in the day disallowed access upwards (if removed) and was used for security… just in case. The entrance is about 4 euros and if you really want a unique experience, go up there right at the top of the hour so you can see and hear the tower bell ring right in front of you. See the first video for reference. All in all a cool bird’s eye view of this medieval town.

The Old Town part of Tallinn is quintessential old world Europe and worth seeing if you are in the area. One of the pictures I shared is of the Russian Embassy and as you can see from the signage in front, Estonians are fully in support of Ukraine and are not pleased with Putin in the least.

Tallinn Town Hall is the oldest city hall in North-Europe and the only preserved one in Gothic style. This year (2022), Tallinn Town Hall celebrates the 700th anniversary of its first mention in 1322. There you’ll find nice restaurants, pubs and a lot of tourists. From there you can go to the main touristic attractions in the city on foot.

Great place to visit! Lots of history! The tower is 3€;;; cash only to climb! Very steep stairs but also cool to say I’ve been up the tower and seen the history! The town hall also has lots of history and great on information!

What makes Tallinn different than other European cities is that they managed to preserve medieval structures. The city plan from the 13th century is still intact which makes Tallinn a recognized landmark. Walking around the town square in the original cobblestone streets will lead you to medieval churches and merchant houses that date back to the Middle Ages. It's fascinating!

The top location to visit in Tallinn, this town hall has a colourful history that dates back to medieval times, with its iconic tower overlooking old town. Visitors can enter the town hall by buying a ticket, it's free for Tallinn Card holders, where you can learn more about the town hall's history in relation to Tallinn. You'll get to climb all the way to the rooftop as part of the entry. You can also climb the adjacent tower with the same ticket, but we didn't do it because we're lazy. The exhibition is quite informative and it feels surreal to be in such a historical place. You also get to admire the evolving architecture of the building. Your visit to Estonia would not be complete without dropping by here, even if you're just admiring it from the outside.

Tallinn Town Hall is a remarkable testament to the city's rich history and civic pride. This Gothic masterpiece, dating back to the 13th century, stands as one of the oldest town halls in Northern Europe. Its intricate façade and imposing tower reflect the architectural and artistic brilliance of the time. The Town Hall Square, where it is located, has been the heart of Tallinn's social and cultural life for centuries. Today, the Town Hall continues to be a hub of activity, hosting events, exhibitions, and gatherings, while also serving as a symbol of Tallinn's enduring civic heritage and its significance as a center of governance and community.

The centre of Tallinn old town. Definitely a place to visit & many events are held there including the Christmas market & medieval weekend. Good eating venues but be prepared to pay for the location. The little pancake stall at the north end is particularly recommended.

Talinn's town hall and the adjacent square are a great pice of architecture. You might've seen similar town squares in many other European cities, but this one shines with its own unique features. It's always crowded in my experience, so be prepared to wait, if you want to snap some good pictures.

The spacious hall is located on the second floor of the building. I attended a concert here. The quartet, consisting of a violin, viola, cello, and piano, sounded quite impressive. The high ceiling enhanced the excellent acoustics, while the meticulously restored medieval interior created a refined aesthetic and a special atmosphere. The lighting was also well-balanced, not overly bright for the audience area, but sufficiently strong to clearly see all the details of the performing musicians and their instruments, even from the back rows.

Town Hall and it's square is a center of the miniature universe called Tallinn Old town. The entire old part of the city is quite compact but very homogeneous, very little intrusions of modern architecture, and the old wall of Tallinn makes a nice boundary between old and new. Lots of different restaurants to choose from, like in other touristy places, locations close to the main attractions.

Medieval old town hall. Gothic style building. Big and open. Nice place to spend time. Very happening. Several restaurants representing Italian, Indian and Baltic. Several souvenir shops. You can find Baltic Amber jewellery shops both expensive and cheap depending on the grade of the Amber.

The Town Hall, which dates to 1404, is one of the most hallowed symbols of Tallinn. It boasts an elegant arcade of Gothic arches and a slender Baroque steeple. The narrow windows and crenelated parapet complete the building’s dignified facade. Do not forget to spot the waterspouts in the form of green dragons just beneath the roof and the 16th-century weathervane in the form of a stout, spear-wielding sentry near the summit of the steeple.

The Tallinn Town Hall building is located in the main square of Tallinn and it’s easy to recognize for the beautiful and imposing tower. We didn’t visit inside, we actually are not sure if you can visit and how much should be the entrance fees, but we walked around checking out the beautiful details in the stone building, kind of medieval construction where you can find some cool details as the “Gargoyles” gracing the sides of the building. According Wikipedia, it’s the oldest town hall in the whole of the Baltic region and Scandinavia, and as everything in Tallinn old town, it’s a beautiful building really well maintained and gives the old square a magic charming. Eli: 5 / Serge: 5 Recommended: Yes, It’s a nice and central landmark of Tallinn.

We only visited the tower, because the hall itself was closed for Estonian Independence Day. Entrance was 3 Euro per person. The spiral staircase is steep and narrow, in particular towards the top. It was 115 steps, and the steps are very tall so it is a good workout. Still, we are not in particular good shape, but we had no trouble making it to the top. Nice view over the square and the roofs of the old town. There is a big bell at the top with inscriptions.

Great place to people watch. I met several people from different coutries here. There are many restaurants with outdoor seating and at times you can see people performing as well. I highly recommend the little medieval restaurant in the town hall building. It's really good and cheap. The ladies can be a little abusive, but that's part of the fun.

The observatory costs 3 euro but the free Cohtuotsa viewing platform is much better. After climbing up 34 meters with stiff stairs, you can see the view only through windows, 50cm x 180cm. But beautiful. Closed at 5:30pm in summer.
