Very special uplifting spiritual experience. We went on the busiest day of the year - Lag BeOmar. The best way on that day is to travel via public transportation.

Upon arriving at the tomb, I was immediately struck by the peaceful atmosphere and the sense of reverence that permeated the area. The tomb itself is a beautiful structure, adorned with intricate carvings and adorned with colorful mosaics. As I walked through the corridors and chambers, I couldn't help but feel a sense of awe and respect for the man who lies buried within. Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochi was a renowned scholar and spiritual leader who played a significant role in the development of Jewish tradition and literature. His tomb serves as a testament to his enduring legacy and the respect that he continues to receive from the Jewish community. Overall, my visit to the Tomb of Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochi was a truly enriching experience. The site is well-maintained and provides a unique insight into the history and culture of the Jewish people. I would highly recommend a visit to this sacred site to anyone interested in exploring the rich history and traditions of Israel

The burial site of Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai. He lived in the 2nd century CE and was the first to publicly teach the mystical dimension of the Torah known as the Kabbalah, and is the author of the basic work of Kabbalah, the Zohar.

An old building with a nice story to hear about the rabbi. Make sure you dont show your shoulders or wearing shorts. The synagogue is built over the old cemetrey. In the center of the synagogue there is a stone over the burial place of the rabbi, it's buried deep in the rock.

The tomb of the divine Tanna Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai and Eleazar his son. The second place in the number of worshipers after the Western Wall

Awesome place to pray. There are crowds so beware. Parking is available. Bring cold drinks with you when it’s hot. You need to dress modestly - sleeves for women.

I have been to the Western Wall , the kotel many times during my visits to Israel. After speaking with some of my friends I found out that this site is the 2nd most holy site in Israel. It definitely is very spiritual and very welcoming to all. If you've seen some of the holy sites this is one that you should definitely put on your list to visit.

A very special place. A really different type of place in the North of Israel. Not an Archeological site or a Nature Reserve, not a mall or an Old City. But a new type of experience for a tourist, and perhaps one you should have if you want to know better Israel. I've already been there in the 70ies, true, but now it has become something else completely and I'm not sure if it is for the better. It is supposed to be a spiritual place, a holy place, a place of significance but most of the people there are interested in something else. I'll let you be the judge of it. Still I do recommend being there.

Meron is the top of my list when I fly to Israel, just being there and praying there, takes me back to years of memories and tranquility and the scenery is awesome, just wish they can get rid of the cats entering the Tzion as if they own the place

I went to pray mincha in this Holy place. I read a few Tehillim. And gave tsedaka. Someone saw me giving tsedaka and I was surrounded by people asking me for tsedaka. Someone should regulate the place.

Much easier to drive this time. Last visit was over ten years ago. Roads are well paved and the lighting is better closer to the gravesite.

This is an amazing place to sit , meditate and have time to daven(pray). I appreciated when I was there before Rosh Hashanah the staff was looking fix all seats or tables that needed repair. The minyanim in the am vary at times and the davening is not at a hurried pace to follow. The bathrooms are kept up well and often cleaned. If you can ,bring small tea lites with a lighter to lite for your family or close friends who need extra connection to Rabi Shimon.

The spiritual, mental and emotional connectedness felt here was marked. I was awed and humbled. The Teachings and writings of this sage, Rebbe Shimon Bar Yochai, has lit the world up and gifted it to us, with care.
