Nice Hostel, good rooms, but very weird communication and inconvenient breakfast. The hostel itself is very nice and clean. I had a private room with a comfortable bed and a nice shower, internet worked well. The towel provided was a cheap microfiber travel towel, which isn't the nicest. I would have loved to try the breakfast as reviews are very good. However, it is only served between 9:30-10:00, which basically means you'll have to adjust your plans to fit the hosts' schedules. Communication with the place was very weird. Two weeks before my arrival I received three separate emails with very spammy titles (along the line "you can't complain if we cancel your booking if you don't reply) which really was over the top. I get that you might have had issues with guests not communicating their check-in time well, but this really felt erratic. Added to this, during my check-in, the host was making a lot of comments about how their hotel infrastructure (keypads etc) was due to guests being incompetent to use their older system, which, again, gave of a weird vibe. The communication style and the breakfast all together made it seem a bit like you're staying at someone's place who isn't altogether keen on hosting you.

Worst hostel ever! Claudia was so rude. She was mean and very very disrespectful. Not recommended at all. Choose anywhere but there. Breakfasts just from 9.30 until 10 am. DONT GO

We stayed one week at Wanderlust and loved the place! Hugo the owner was extremely friendly & helpful and created a family-style atmosphere. In this Hostel you will get, hands down, the BEST breakfast (they make every day something new!). Other perks are: The rooftop is beautiful and spacious, the wifi works with ultra speed and the neighborhood is trendy & save
. Perfect ingredients for a great stay in Mexico City đŸ€žđŸ˜Š

“You are not lost” is the quintessential statement that greets you when you find the aptly named Wanderlust District. Hugo and Claudia have cultivated a welcoming, no-nonsense culture in this hidden, aesthetic, and practical space. Short term availability is limited because this hostel is so popular, so make sure to book in advance, and be generous with yourself for this stay. If you’re a solo female traveller, there are female-only dorms for your comfort, although the camaraderie among the guests of my cohort had me feeling safe and comfortable my first time in Mexico City. The blankets are a little thin, and the space around the frame of the beds lets light in if others are still up. Like any hostel, of course you’ll hear snoring and rustling of people shifting around in their sleep, and there were a few guests who had alarms set very early because people often wake up to get to Teotihuican in time to catch a hot air balloon by 6. Once the early risers are gone, you can snooze a while longer and still have time to get up and shower before the artisanal breakfast cooked and served by Hugo and Claudia themselves at 9:30. Every day there’s at least one activity everyone is welcome to join for, and if you prefer something else you’ll likely get interest from other guests for whatever you’re up to if you’d like a group to hang out with. Sundays when there are streets closed to cars for cyclists to use, Claudia guides an hour long bike tour around the city on bikes that are free to rent for the first hour and a half with an ID. If you ever want recommendations for any kind of activity, with or without a group, Hugo and Claudia are prompt to respond with a variety of detailed recommendations punctuated with personal tips. I had to switch hostels for part of my stay because Wanderlust District was all booked up, and I miss this hostel already. Thank you so much to the hosts for running such a beautiful place to stay and create memories to treasure. If I find myself planning a trip back in Mexico City again, this will be the first thing I book.

Great location between the 4 main districts of mexico city. They made the best breakfast every morning for the whole hostel and this is when everyone comes together and tales about their days and plans. Rooms were very clean and the hostel felt very safe.

As good as hostels get. Friendly, helpfull staff, good location (has a big road in front but local neighbourhoods are close and at least my room was quiet) and the breakfast was fresh and delicious. Highly recommended! <3

Great value and location. Beautifully decorated to make up for the amenities. The private room was spacious and beautiful with night stands, a wardrobe, and a desk with one chair. The room gets stuffy and there are no screens on the windows (lots of mosquitoes so we kept it closed). I would highly suggest the owners getting a fan for the room, then it would be so much more comfortable The shared bathroom and showers on Floor 1 were dark and musty. Plus it was odd that the restrooms were down the hallway from the showers. They felt like camping facilities so I found them uncomfortable. The bathroom and shower on Floor 2 was much better. It had adequate light, an enclosed shower, and a toilet in the bathroom. No towels were provided but they have a communal vanity area with essentials such as bug spray (a necessity! I got bit twice as soon as I got there), sun screen, cotton swabs, tissues, a mirror and table. They have cool auto lights that turn on but the annoying thing is that they turn off after 5 seconds so if you're trying to do something like floss the light will turn off before you get started 😆 The highlight of this place is the gourmet breakfasts. They are delicious and beautiful! Today I had gold sprinkles on my perfectly cooked poached egg over toast. It's also conveniently located next to great street food and restaurants. The building is very secure and the guests are very social. The owner puts a lot of care in keeping the guests updated with local events and fun outings in an exclusive WhatsApp group.

This has been my favorite hostel stay to date. The facility is very stylish and memorable, and the rooms are cool and comfortable. Breakfast, cooked daily by the hosts, is to die for. The real gem, though, is the culture that Claudia and Hugo cultivate daily with and for their guests. They are regularly facilitating various (voluntary) adventures and group experiences for those staying there, and thus visitors have the opportunity to bond together while being introduced to many facets of the local culture and scene. I only wish I were staying longer.

Our stay at Wanderlust District Hostel was all in all nice. Positives: - amazing breakfast on the rooftop (next level, nothing you would expect at a hostel) - kind staff, lovely people always up for trips - simple but nice furnishing Negative: - hygiene in the shared bathroom was not very good

I recently stayed at Wanderlust and I must say, it was a fantastic experience. The location couldn't be more perfect for exploring the city's rich cultural heritage. The hostel itself was clean, well-maintained and had a great atmosphere. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, always willing to provide recommendations and advice on the best things to see and do in Mexico City. The beds were comfortable, and the dormitory rooms were spacious and airy. One of the things that really stood out to me about Wanderlust was the variety of communal spaces available to guests. There was a cozy lounge area with comfortable couches and chairs, a rooftop terrace with stunning views of the city. The hostel also offered a range of activities and tours, including walking tours of the city's historic centre, salsa lessons, and cooking classes. It was a great way to meet other travellers. Overall, I had a wonderful experience at Wanderlust Hostel and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for comfortable, affordable and well-located accommodation in Mexico City. The staff and facilities were exceptional, and I would definitely stay here again on my next visit to Mexico City.

This is one of the best hostels I've been to. The rooms are really stylish and spacious and everything is very clean. The rooftop terrace is really nice and there are also two other common areas. Different breakfast is served every morning and it's a great opportunity to meet people as everybody from the hostel gets together. There also is a WhatsApp group for the guests where they can exchange plans or activities they have planned. Clau and Hugo also try to organize as many things as possible for the guests. It really never gets boring there. Thanks so much for the lovely stay!

An absolutely AMAZING hostel. Claudia and Hugo do such a good job making these hostel feel like a tight-knit fun community. They cook an amazing breakfast every morning, organize activities, and are around to answer any questions. This hostel also attracts social, interesting people, making it a great place for solo travelers. Wouldn't stay anywhere else in Mexico City!

Claudia and Hugo are two of my favorite people in the world. I was one of their firsts guests when they opened and I consider them friends. The place is always very clean, perfectly located, with comfortable accomodations and ammenities. They have activities they provide as an added bonus, plus breakfast is always wonderful. I love their hostal, and I recommend them always to other people visiting Mexico City.

One of the best hostels we stayed. It’s incredibly safe and the hosts make sure that no one else enters the building only the guest. The breakfast was to die for, very well prepared and the Hugo and Claudia remembered every request (vegan , vegetarian, gluten free) without having to repeat it. It’s also fantastic location. Hugo and Claudia organised various activities which were so much fun and helped the guests to bond. We made so many friends here . Hugo and Claudia are hard workers and great hosts , highly recommend this hostel , wish we stayed longer.

I had a great experience at the hostel during my vacation in Mexico City and highly recommend it to fellow travelers! It is located in a very good neighborhood - safe and quiet and easy to get to good food, nightlife, and attractions. The rooms are clean and well-kept. The breakfast is delicious, and the best part is the opportunity to mingle with other travelers during the morning hours and ask questions to figure out the day ahead. It is a boutique hostel, and the vibes there are very social and intimate - the hostel seems to attract quality travelers. In fact, I met many good people in the hostel and several became very good friends - we still keep in touch after the trip! I even met a few guests who met at the hostel two years ago and became really good friends and they came again for their reunion. That’s part of why we travel, meeting good people and forming relationships, right? The host Claudia is very kind and helpful. Her recommendations and travel tips are always on point. She took us for tacos, salsa, and wrestling in an evening - one of the highlights of the trip. There were rules informed to us before our arrival, but she had good intentions for everyone. Overall, I cannot say enough good things about Wanderlust District. Hope you will have a good experience there too!

Really enjoyed my stay here. Great area in Roma Norte, and the building is very secure with clean rooms. The staff is awesome, and organize a ton of group activities. Be sure to join the whatsapp group for your stay, great way to coordinate with other folks staying at the hostel and hear about the group activities. Not a party hostel, but definitely has a social vibe and it was easy to meet people. The breakfast is incredible and home cooked, not your standard hostel breakfast.

I’m very happy to be able to write a review for this fantastic little hostel. Rooms comfortable, central and safe location, clean and tidy, great breakfast, but for me the highlight was the atmosphere created by the amazing hosts Hugo and Claudia. They brought all the guests together to do various activities like lucha libre and tours to various taco joints and markets around town and have a great time. Perfect for solo travellers or anyone wanting to mix with other travellers. Cant recommend it enough.

Loved staying here -- met great people, private rooms were well equipped, wifi was great, breakfast was delicious. The hostel does a great job catering to the 25-35 crowd too! The hosts Clau and Hugo were warm, fun, and organized cool tours on their own. Would definitely stay here again.

I stayed at Wanderlust for five days over Dia De L’os Muertos and had an incredible time. This is by far one of the most fun, sociable and friendly hostels I’ve ever stayed at. It is small enough that you will get to know everyone and there is a really inclusive culture. Clau and Hugo are committed to ensuring you have the absolute best time, and organise multiple fantastic activities every day that they will personally invite you too. Breakfast is the best I have had anywhere, and is the perfect time to meet everyone so don’t miss it. Price is really decent considering it includes breakfast! My only comment is that the beds are not the comfiest, and that our room didn’t have a window to the outside so it was hard to get fresh air in, but this is really minor as you spend most of your time outside!

Nice hostel, near Roma Norte. Breakfast included which was quite tasty and there was a nice social vibe on the roof during this time. Pretty tight security which is a good thing. It was a bit warm in the room at night, it would be great to get a fan in there.

We really enjoyed our 5 nights in Mexico City thanks to this hostel and particularly Clau and Hugo. We asked SO many questions and they always gave us great recommendations. The hostel hosted their own food tours and they organized many events every day for guests. The rooms are quiet despite being on a busy street and the location is very central to everything. The upstairs patio is a nice place to meet other travellers too. We loved our stay here and already want to come back!

Perfect hostel for your stay in Mexico City. The location is close to Roma and Mondesa and there is a metro station close by. The owners are very friendly and will serve you an amazing breakfast every day. They also organize free activities so you'll get to know the other guests. It's not a party hostel so you'll get your needed sleep, however you'll find people there who are looking for a party if you want ;) The hostel itself was clean and the beds were very nice. I'll definitely return.

Very nice place, good location, nice rooftop bar with view. Make sure that once you do your booking you check your e-mail, they send some important information including guide on how to check in online. The staff was so nice that despite of us not following the rule of informing them at what time we would come (as we were traveling we did not keep track on our e-mails) he waited for us, I think his name was Hugo, and when we asked him, he provided us with an extra access card (in many hostels if you do baking for a group, they give you one key per booking no matter if you are 2 or 4). The only thing that "bothered" us a bit was the fact that the rooms were not closed, and there were not enough lockers (at least in our room - one of the lockers was broken)

Incredible deal. Hugo and Claudia provide delicious and unique breakfasts every morning. The hostel is clean and tidy, with many great spaces for working, hanging out, and relaxing. They are accommodating to different food needs (vegan, veggie, allergies), and are always providing amazing tips on places to grab lunch and dinner. They went on multiple excursions with the guests while I was there. You will discover the city from the eyes of a local, experience incredible hospitality, and never have to worry about your internet connection. Very comfortable space, and you will meet many wonderful guests. I have spent a lot of time in hostels and found this one to be the hardest to leave at the end of my stay.

Clau and Hugo (owners) have the best vibe about them. Chill, easy going and ever so helpful. Even after I checked out from there, they included me in several of the group activities and I met many really cool people that way. Keep it up and I hope to see you very soon! Also the hostel has blazing fast WiFi

There’s SUCH a great atmosphere, super easy to meet other travelers, and loved the rooftop terrace as well as ridiculously amazing breakfasts. They also go out of their way to organize hostel activities and dinners. This hostel really felt like our home in Mexico city – can’t wait to come back!

great place to stay! nice, clean and affordable rooms, nice terrace and rooftop. the hostel is located in a nice area, surrounded by many nice neighborhoods with plenty of options to eat and drink. also the center is very close. breakfast is very good. but most important of all: claudia and hugo are super nice and are always near to help you with any kind of situation (thank you!) they also organize trips and other things, that will be discussed in the hostels whatsapp group. would totally recommend this place, also if you choose to travel on your own.

I had my own room in this hostel. It is composed of many solo/couple rooms and a few dorms. It is quite unique: the owner make you a different breakfast every morning and they organise an activity almost every day. The place is chill. No party stuff, good. Good place to meet people that would say the same :) my only feedback would be to add more comfortable chairs to the outside patio. Location is decent, although next to a road (it's MĂ©xico city) , there is plenty nearby (in Mexico city standards)

  • 4/5 Daryl K. 1 year ago on Google
This is a great hostel with smart ideas, helpful hosts, and unique breakfast experiences. Breakfast offerings change daily (but note they have it later in the morning, 9:30AM-10AM), but they are lovingly prepared by the same hosts, Hugo and Claudia. Both of them are ready to answer your questions about Mexico City and recommendations. They both even run their own food tours for the guests! The WhatsApp group of the hostel is a genius idea and it allows the guests to connect with each other and allows the sharing of information/events happening in the city. You can expect city tours to be advertised on a regular basis. This is not a party hostel and it kind of shuts down at night but the travelers are free to hang out on the roofdeck over beers or so. The bars of Roma are not far away so it's easy for people to find happenings at night. The hostel is on a busy avenue but it's not noisy. It would be hard to find at first but no, you won't be lost. The provided towels are thin (I was surprised) but they are actually good at wiping you dry! During my stay, the Wolf Room's shower hot water kind of malfunctions as it turns off every now and then. Hope they get that fixed. Still, on overall, I enjoyed my stay. Met wholesome travelers and it was easy to socialize. Would recommend!

One of the best hostels in Mexico. It was located in the heart of Cdmx, with welcoming staff and comfy beds, fully functioning kitchen and cosy common area. There was free breakfast in the mornings and different events in the evenings like wrestling show, food tour or even XochimilcoÂŽs kayac. Claudia was a very lovely host, se was worried all the time that her guests were comfortable, in clean areas, happy and having fun! I will definitely return. XOXO from Italy!
