A beautiful museum presenting the history of Thessaloniki Jewry. The entrance ticket also allows you to visit two additional synagogues. Worth a visit.

I just passed by while I was waiting for the hotel checking In time. So I decided to spend a good time inside ): Because I’m interested in learning about cultures and people. While so many people were taking videos someone came to me with a police officer “especially to me” and asked me if I took videos, I admitted that and I showed him that I took one and I erased in affront of his eye, then the man started to ask me bizarre questions, like what are you doing in Greece why did you come here !! Then he took pics of all the visas that I have in my passport ! And asked what did you do in Brazil what did you do in everywhere!!! I have visited a lot of museums among the world never experienced like this attitude, truly disappointed. The man asked me if I have a knife in a front of people and ask why do you have drone ! What is the reason!! Then asked where I work What is my profession Museum itself is nice, but I wish I don’t see these people again. Go to this place if you want to undervalue yourself !!! He could ask me respectfully and Talk in better way.

A small and charming museum, English signs and voice explanations in different languages after downloading an app. I learned a lot about the Jewish history of the city which went hundreds of years ago. Recommended and doesn't take more than an hour of visit.

Absolutely exceptional, breathtaking, and moving. The museum is perfectly organized, and there are explanations in English everywhere. The work that's been made to collect, preserve, and then present all the materials in here is just insane, and touching. For the QR codes as audio guides, I'm not a fan, but for the rest it's just incredible, and extremely instructive.

The museum itself was interesting but they are not welcoming at all, probably due to antisemitism in Greece which is fueled by Muslim migrants and their supporters. The security guy outside was very rude. It didn't matter that I'm Jewish. I have been many timed in Israel but security men there are usually polite with tourists. This guy did his job which is fine but he should not forget that Jewish heritage belongs to every civilized person, not only to him.

Very sobering and informative museum. The guys out front give you a hard time if you’re wearing a jacket, but it’s just because you could be concealing something. It’s €7 per ticket, cash only.

As an Israeli, the Jewish history of Thessaloniki is obviously of interest to me. Jews have been there since the beginning of the town's history in 315 BC. But about 80% of the museum is dedicated to the deportation of the local population by the Nazis during WWII. It's a shame to pass over more than 2000 years of history.

A worth visiting museum for both the architecture of the building and the exhibition. Aspects of Greek Jewish history not always well known to the public.

Very informative museum with a good display, personal stories, photographs. Most of the exhibition has been translated into English. The entry 7 euros is perfectly worth paying. Sobering experience too, remembering all those Saloniki Jews who perished during WW2. 🕍🔯🕎

The museum and its subject are important and fascinating but in several places the museum fails; some exhibits are not translated and others have a confusing narrative. They could do better.

Lovely and touching museum about the Jews of the Thessaloniki, from ancient times until modern. Detailed history, including about the architecture and renovation of the museum itself. Signage in Hebrew and Greek, I couldn't get the Android app to work. My only regret was not having more time to spend; we were rushing to a Roman and Jewish tour of the city. Loved the permanent exhibit about brides without smiles.

This museum is very interesting. Shows you many things about the Jewish history in Thessaloniki that you wouldn’t learn otherwise. I recommend a visit

A decent attempt to depict the history of the Hebrews of the city in a holistic way. Usually one has to wait for a short time, until being given entrance. There is a variety of exhibits from various historical milestones and as regards the most recent eras the experience becomes even more consummate. Overall it was a good experience.

An exceptional museum about Jewish history in Thessaloniki. Reading through WW2 history was honestly quite moving, with detailed explanations for a large collection of items. Highly recommend visiting especially if you're from a country with not a lot of Jewish history like mine. No photos allowed inside!

This small, well-designed museum packs more Thess knowledge per sq meter than the archeological museum. It is fascinating & tragic. Look, 50,000 Sephardic Jews left Spain in 1492 & basically made this city a cultural powerhouse. Half the city was Ladino/Spanish speaking Jews for 200 years. Then the Greek Revolution, 1917 fire & finally WWII ended Jewish presence here. Devastating evidence that nobody gets what they deserve. Critical for understanding European history. The newly installed music room is fantastically interesting & does a lot with a little. Go.

One of the best museums in the town, so worth of visiting no tree from which part of planet you came! Very rich history and exhibits, photos and documents. I just loved it and definitely want to go again!

We had a Greek native PhD professor of history with our group while visiting and they challenged several claims made in the museum. Other than that, it was a very educational visit to learn about the plight of Jewish people in Greece.

Very interesting museum with an informative part about the history of Jews in Thessaloniki and a poignant part about the Holocaust. You can’t help but get emotional in there, the pictures and testimonies take you through this horrendous period in a few rooms.

Very nice museum dedicated to the Jewish community of Thessaloniki. The visitor can get a detailed view of how the community was organised, their traditions/ customs, and unfair destiny. Totally worth it

Just visited this museum. The guide was amazing, he explained the history of the museum and the town as well as the history of Jewish history overall. It’s worth visiting for sure.

Interesting museum with a lot of knowledge about the Jewish community in Salonika - a real must to see while here in Thessaloniki

I was very impressed about the history of Jewish people in Thessaloniki. Also, this city was the centre of the Cabbala organization - the mysterious branch of Jewish religion. Highly recommend to whom are interested in history.

A must visit to understand the history of Thessaloniki. Not only does this museum focus on the Jewish community, but also the interaction between the Christian and Muslim communities. At times the city's history serves as a model for diversity and achievement based on that diversity and tragically as the museum also shows at times the history is the reverse.

The place is really interesting and worth a visit. It includes information and exhibitions of the Jewish community before, during and after the Holocaust. Free entrance for students so don't forget your card!

As a specialist in Jewish history I am very critical but first of all very very nice stuff!!! And the exhibition is very well done but I would have liked to get to know about the present situation of Jews living in Thessaloniki.

Free for students! Fascinating exhibition, pretty hard-hitting stuff. Had no idea about the impact of the Jewish population in Thessaloniki or Greece in general, so this was really enlightening. You only need about an hour for the whole museum.

Great historical place. It's small but essential. Due to Covid restrictions guided tours for large groups are not allowed. A visit to the the Jewish synagogue is a must if within the area.

Very beautiful and informative museum but the staff were extremely abrupt and rude. It felt like they were annoyed with my presence and I did not feel welcome.

Very important museum, sadly a lot of documents are not translated into English or other languages and are in greek only. The ground floor exhibition is a bit messy, with no clear structure and too many QR codes to scan. I still highly recommend a visit, you should start the exhibition on the first floor.

A museum that shows an unknown historical side of that city. Thessaloniki during centuries were a multicultural place and that you can discover it only to this museum.

Beautifully set out, shame the content had to be so sad. Great to know the Jews were in Thessaloniki for so long. Totally destroyed my the Nazis. So pleased to have visited the museum.
