Vellayani Lake, or Vellayani Kayal is one of the largest lake in Trivandrum. You can see an awesome view of fresh water lake and its surrounding. You can visit here and enjoy the natural beauty and sunset. when i ask to people they said the sunset in here was beautiful. But unfortunately i don't have the luck to see the sunset. But the nature beauty was amazing....must take a boating at morning or evening...

Perfect Evening Destination! The best spot to visit in the evening. Open the mind, feel the breeze, see the sight & enjoy the moment. The view of nature creates a sense of calmness in the visitors. Have space to park vehicles in the either sides of road. Watch the blooming flowers in the water.

One of the best place in trivandrum to experience the evening vibe and sunset. You can see the the view from main road itself, but you can also walk to to the side roads to experience the complete beauty of this place. You can buy fresh fish also from here. Currently boating is not available. You can either come to this place though your own vehicle or public transport like KSRTC bus. There is no dedicated parking space but you can park your vehicles near to this site. Safe swimming spaces are there in the lake. I think government can make this place as a main tourist attraction in Trivandrum, by providing public toilets and parking kind of facilities.

The place is heaven,,,,,right in Trivandrum About 10 mins from Kovalam bypass road. . It's the right place for some nature photography in Trivandrum . . Has a good toddy shop which provided quality toddy and pure southindian cuisine food. .toddy shop( safe for family) . Has a less known unconstructed road (nearly off-road) which is narrow and between two lakes. ( Ideal for bike ride) . Peak time to go is early morning(6:30am - 8:30am and 4:30 pm - 6:30pm). . Good place for a morning / evening walk. A big lotus farming is very attractive. We can even buy lotus if want with cheap price. Could have been better if there is boating allowed in the lake.

Ideally this should have Been a tourist hotspot , it's a beautiful lake with very little amenities, but then that's also part of the charm, though not always, if it's not crowded, you can find a small spot of solitude here, simply sit and enjoy nature watching in the distance the cities hurry !

The lake is wonderful to view from either side of the road, and from multiple lake view points. Visit the place around 6:20 in the morning and view the bliss while sunrise is in the background. Adding some videos which were taken over different days while I rode a bike to the place. The place is hardly 8 km from the International Airport, it is expected tha soon the lake will be extended by removing the bund and building a bridge across. This could bring more tourism revenue to the locality.

This is such an awesome place to relax and chill. There is no special parking or anything as such and we it must be parked on the side in such a way that other vehicles can pass. There is no border or fence also, so be careful. During monsoons, the level of Lake is almost close to the level of road, so it might seem scary. However, it's a mesmerizing site seeing the lotus in the lake. Come here during mornings to get some chill breeze and it will be less crowded too.
