Wat Prayun sits on the western side of the Chao Praya river very near the base of the Memorial Bridge. One of the 19th Century temple's prominent features is a large inverted-bell white chedi encircled by smaller ones. This chedi is visible from many nearby vantage points (including from the Chao Praya Sky Park walkway). A great family-friendly part of the temple grounds is the Khao Mo replica of mountain temples. The 'mountain' sits in the center of a pond filled with turtles. It's a very peaceful location where visitors can feed the turtles and feel removed from the city that sits just outside the gates.

(Translated by Google) Recommended - The Royal Monastery of the early Rattanakosin period with an ubosot with wire details, beautiful wall paintings and a unique style of Maha Chedi. Especially the chedi that can be seen as majestic on the banks of the Chao Phraya River. (The foot of the Buddhist bridge, Thonburi side) Recommendations - A royal temple built in honor of King Rama III, at the beginning of the Rattanakosin period, with exceptional architectural heritage. The mural painting on the walls of the “ubosot” and the bell-shape “Phra Borommathat Maha Pagoda” are one of their kinds. The pagoda cannot be missed as you journey down the Chaopraya river, especially after dark when the pagoda is lighted. Pros - Convenient transportation, a lot of parking / The temple has a well managed area. Especially cleanliness / clean bathrooms / there is a small museum at the entrance-exit of Maha Chedi relics Display the votive tablet found in the chamber of the temple / Khao Mo (Khao Tao) to sit and relax, feed turtles and fish / the temple has an entrance-exit for wheelchair. What to expect - Easily commutable with lots of parking spaces. The temple is well maintained and well managed especially the cleanliness of the premises. Restrooms are clean and tidy (not usually in many temples). There is a small so-called museum at the entrance to the Phra Borommahathat Maha Pagoda displaying amulets found inside the pagoda. There is also “Khao Mor” (Khao Tao) where you can feed the turtles and fish. On a smaller note, there is a wheelchair access to the “vihara”. Disclaimer - Some stools have been found in the temple area. Don be surprised - Animal droppings (like those of s trayed dogs) can be found in the temple premises. Wat Prayun is located nearby the memorial bridge in Bangkok. The temple here is well known for its beautiful craft white pagoda. It is built since the 19th Century. They have major and minor hall to visit the Buddha image too. They also have a mini museum inside. Whats more outstanding is their Khao Mor (mini park) is so peaceful and tranquil. You can feed the turtles and enjoy the peacefulness away from the busy city life for a while. Parking is available.

When you cross the river in Bangkok, it’s amazing how much the volume of tourists drops off. We were literally the only non-locals at this temple site despite it having unique features like being able to climb up into the spire to get an amazing perspective of how it’s constructed. Another unique attribute was that the altar was plastered with slithers of gold leaf, offered by worshippers during their prayers.

Serenity at its finest was something I felt right upon arrival. I couldn’t take my eyes off of this magnificent pagoda which provided the surreal sight to the eye, especially during sunset. Apart from the elaborate garden, the restroom here kinda impressed me with the automated sliding doors and air-conditioners equipped

A nice place away from the busy city, you can relax and pray. There is a small pond you can feed turtles, by doing so, it'll give you a peace of mind. Food for turtle costs 20 baht per box. You can buy turtle food at 8.00 a.m. - 8 p.m.

One of my favorite places in Bangkok. A serene tropical oasis in the midst of the city with a pool filled with turtles and fish that you can feed. Veggies are 20 baht and it is the most relaxing thing ever. A chedi that you can enter is also different from many others. Definitely worth a trip over the river.

A very beautiful temple in the heart of Chinatown. Features a giant indoor Buddha statue and the biggest bell in Bangkok. Come visit the main hall and admire the beautiful architecture and pray. Visitors are more than welcome but do dress appropriately. Do also visit the Khao Mo turtle mountain temple at the back.

By far one of my most enjoyable experiences this year in bangkok 2023. The white temple or cheti, I think the accurate name might be, is okay but the best part was the turtle pond across from it; I would go as far as saying it was more like a sanctuary for them. Best of all the grounds is free to enter! Although, a small donation would help to keep the place free and keep it in it best condition. Not forgetting, it’s still in active temple were monks can be seen. It costs just 20baht to feed the turtles! And if you’re lucky you’ll see a fe fish. I was able to feed a huge gourami and it was so adorable feeding. It’s a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle on an early Sunday morning. I was there for at least 2 hours just enjoying the tranquility. I am a huge animal and nature lover, so this could be the reason why. Also, there’s no tourists!! It’s definite hidden gem in my opinion. Highly recommend visiting, especially if you have young children.

One of the lesser known Temples of Bangkok on the western side of the river. Beautiful Pagoda with a circular outer ring you where you can walk the circumference. Just be advised the stones get very hot in the midday sun 🥴😅.

A quiet monastery along the Chao Phraya River. There were hardly any visitors but this just adds to the seclusion of this place. The main hall is undergoing minor renovations when I visited but remains opened. There is a small museum containing relics and Buddha statues found in the stupa when it was undergoing renovation several years ago. Through the museum, you can climb up the stupa and explore inside the stupa. Highly recommended if you are into historical Buddhist artefacts found in the museum.

Wat Prayurawongsawas Worawiharn, a Buddhist temple in Thonburi, Bangkok has the distinction of winning the Award of Excellence in the UNESCO Asia-Pacific Heritage Awards for Cultural Heritage Conservation on 9 September 2013. During a local festival in Thonburi in January 2014, a highlight of the festival was the presentation of this Award of Excellence for the restoration of the 60.5m-high chedi in this temple. The temple is a second class royal temple that was built by Somdej Chao Phraya Borom Maha Prayurawong (Dit Bunnag). Construction of this temple commenced in 1828 with the donation of this nobleman’s coffee garden for the temple. The temple wasn’t completed when it was presented to King Rama III who named it Wat Prayurawongsawas. It was Dit Bunnag’s son Chap Phraya Borom Maha Sri Suriyawong (Chuang Bunnag) who completed the temple in 1855 in the reign of King Rama IV.

We visited this temple as part of a took took tour and it was quite a good experience. There are some tricky steps and doesn’t appear to have any disabled access and also there are a lot of things that I think you need a tour guide with you to explain. It is an interesting temple because it has been repaired from a significant lean over and also that it receives funding from the King so it is in good condition.

This site is commonly known as Wat Prayoon, a hidden gem that might not draw as many visitors but is culturally rich. I am particularly drawn to its unique architecture and tranquil ambiance. Notably, the large white stupa, surrounded by a cloister with Chinese-style structures, is a standout feature. Though it is free of admission, you can walk around and inside the stupa. I found artifacts displayed inside interesting. The temple started construction in 1828 and completed construction in 1855. Its stupa was destroyed by thunderbolt later and eventually got fully repaired. Before reaching the stupa, a small gallery offers pictures and information, providing insights into the site's history. While this site is not as popular as others in Bangkok, I definitely recommend visiting here. Since I was the only visitor that day, I found this site quiet and beautiful. It gives me adequate time to calm myself down and being able to appreciate everything it offers. Just plan it into one of the city walk stops and you will be amazed once you get there. The authenticity, historical significance, and the sense of calm it provides compared to more crowded tourist spots would make your stop at this site worthy.

Beautiful and not too touristy. We visited in the afternoon and were the only ones up top. The stupa looks cool. Two of us also spoke with a kind monk to gain some information about the temple grounds and were given handmade bracelets! Totally recommend walking through the temple park and feeding turtles there, such a cute experience.

Was interesting. If you go up the stairs be careful. They are *not* standard sized stairs and if you have knee or hip issues you may want to stay downstairs in the gift shop.

Kind of a hidden secret in Bangkok. If you want a break from the big Touristic spots, visit this temple. Feeding the turtles is free (you just need to buy the food for 20 thb ) and is great, especially for kids. The rest of the temple is also interesting, but there are no information charts or guides, this could be improved.

It's peaceful here; not many people around like many other temples. I'm not sure if it's because I was there on a weekday. The white pagoda or stupa is stunningly beautiful. It's located close to many other attractions in the area. You may set a day trip to the area to enjoy attractions and learn from those historic sites.

I especially like the area around the pagoda. It's very peaceful walking around the pagoda. You can actually enter inside the pagoda and see how it is constructed though you may need a pair of good knees. The steps are pretty steep :) However, if you happened to visit when they are holding a temple fair, lucky you. The whole place will be filled with street food, with live performances all from the local community. There is a small amulet museum just outside the pagoda area. Also a little park called "Khao Tao " ( Turtle Hill ). This temple is also known as the " Red Fence Temple " You may notice that the fence have little axes and spears as design, but in reality they are actual weapons which were up-cycled into a fence.
