The "Buna Vestire" Church is an Orthodox place of worship built between 1934-1936 and consecrated the following year. The architectural building is located in the center of Braşov, on Nicolae Iorga street, and is an objective of historical and cultural interest for both locals and tourists passing through the city at the foot of Tâmpei.

At the foot of the "Cetățuia" hill, where the city's inhabitants used to take refuge, between 1934 and 1937 this beautiful church was built on the street named after the great historian Nicolae Iorga. On the right it borders the road leading to "Cetătăuie", and on the left the parish house built in the same period. It was consecrated by Metropolitan Dr. Alexandru Niculescu in 1937. In 1971, the decision of the Patriarchate that the church be painted was implemented. The consecration of the church and the painting took place in 1978, by Metropolitan Nicolae Mladin. In 2012 – 2014, restoration works took place on the painting.

Nice church

When I visited the church at around 5 pm on Sunday, I happened to encounter a sermon. After listening to the sermon, the bishops helped everyone at the door to light jasmine essential oil on their foreheads and hands. The believers kissed the cross in the hands of the bishop and listened to the bishop's blessing. I am blessed to be part of a sacred religious event.

What most people don't know is that this used to be a Greek Catholic church, but it was taken over by the Orthodox, and never given back. The building itself is nice.

A clean, freshly restored and embelished worship place with a dedicated priest organizing the ritual like an art director, not in a harry, not taking shortcuts, not over speeding the sermon and comforting belivers, despite a long waiting line of brides and grooms to be, happily parked with their families, across the street.
