Dance school

๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘ I would highly recommend TDS to any dancer, new or seasoned. I started with Level 1 Salsa a few months ago and now Iโ€™m in Level 3. The instructors have been phenomenal. They are supportive, caring, and really give 110% each class. The studio is clean and well ventilated. At the start of each class... I would highly recommend TDS to any dancer, new or seasoned. I started with Level 1 Salsa a few months ago and now Iโ€™m in Level 3. The instructors have been phenomenal. They are supportive, caring, and really give 110% each class. The studio is clean and well ventilated. At the start of each class, the instructors do a COVID checkin with every student. I feel safe and well taken care of when I go to TDS. Iโ€™ve loved my time with TDS and hoping to keep working on my Salsa technique all the way to Level 6, and then start Bachata classes. My favourite part about TDS is the owner, Aleks. His energy is contagious and he make every student feel like a star. Whether youโ€™re new to Latin dance or a veteran, I would highly recommend TDS!

Best instructors! You get soooo much more out of this than just dance skills! Its fun, warm, friendly, encouraging, a great sense of community... feels like family! I don't think it's possible to attend and not leave with a huge smile on your face!

Not good. Boring. Disorganized. Aleks is entertaining and sweet and cute though. Some students looked extremely uncomfortable and did not want to dance- like why sign up for a salsa class if you donโ€™t want to do partnered dancing. The helper girl is very quiet and canโ€™t hear a word she says so she isnโ€™t helpful at all. Atmosphere isnโ€™t great and you can easily learn this stuff on YouTube or have a friend teach you for free. Not worth it. Keeps preaching โ€œbelong!โ€ Sorry thereโ€™s not belonging here. Tried talking to people but they donโ€™t want to talk. No one knows your name unless youโ€™re a pretty girl. Witnessed one dude flirting with a random girl who wasnโ€™t having it. It was disgusting to watch.

10/10 recommend ! This dance studio was like my second home ! started here taking level 1 salsa class and then bachata classes and moved up the levels... even started to be a regular at the social events ! Environment is very positive and definitely makes you feel like you #belong.

Aleks and Shelley are great salsa teachers. They also remember everyone's names and make sure that you have a good time learning salsa. Altogether, the place has a really good vibe and makes me look forward to my Thursday classes every week

I recently just finished Level One Salsa and within the 6 week duration I went from having two left feet to getting really comfortable with the fundamentals! I want to give a shoutout to Shelley for being an amazing instructor as well as to the awesome volunteers Eric, Laavanya, and Pat for their help in guiding us when it came to practicing what we learned. I really appreciate how caring they were and how much they invested in their students. All of their enthusiam, patience, and and kindness have made a huge impact on my experience learning Salsa for the first time and this really boosted my confidence after learning something that I personally never thought I could learn. If you are currently interested in learning Salsa and are on the fence about where you should learn, I can promise that if you join TDS you will have selected a nurturing environment where you can experience so much growth :) I will be taking Level 2 Salsa with Aleks soon, and I am looking forward to what I see as the next step in an exciting journey!

The studio's perfect and gleaming dance floor is immediately inviting. A big "Family" sign on the wall further invites group pictures. The far wall is pure mirror so we can see ourselves (for better or worse lol). Aleks and Shelley had an unbelievable amount of energy and were in their element when leading the class. Our one night beginner event started with name tags. Our names and the name of one person who showed us kindness when our attitudes were bad. (More on that later.) They took us from nothing to one impressive dance move over an hour and fifteen minutes and before we knew it the class had ending with us dancing with all self-consciousness lost. Aleks took a moment to explain a recent experience where he ran into someone not having a great day and taking it out on those nearby, showed that person kindness, and that person turning around and showing kindness to the others too. He encouraged us to be graceful to each other and we had a group photo. I'm already going to F45 next door, but Toronto Dance Salsa is really tempting too...

My happy place! ๐Ÿ™‚ I had a really wonderful time at TDS, starting with Level 1 Salsa. Aleks & Shelley are both amazing instructors. The helpers crew (Eric, Lavanya, Pat) is also super helpful and they were always willing to help me improve my moves. I very much appreciated the friendly, relaxed and non-judgmental vibe at the studio. Highly recommend this school to anyone. I promise to be back for more fun, to a place I love.

TDS is such a warm, supportive, and safe dance community! As a beginner to salsa and bachata, this was very important to me. I like how the classes are structured and the instructors and helpers are attentive and friendly! The TDS socials are a great way to practice social dancing. I canโ€™t say enough good things about this studio - highly recommend!

BIG thank you for being an awesome salsa teacher Aleks! You rock! Your energy, passion, and knack for breaking down those tricky steps make every class a blast. Salsa has become my happy place, and I owe it all to you! So grateful for the fun community you've created and the friendships we've formed. You're making a huge difference, and I can't thank you enough! Keep spreading those salsa vibes!!

Well, I chose TDS from its 5 star reviews. Many friends suggested me other well known studios but I was looking for an instructor to teach me dancing for the joy, not being perfect or professional dancer. I got exactly what I expected. As an absolute beginner, after one session I felt itโ€™s a group of friends dancing with, not total strangers. The classes are friendly, fun, energetic and productive (of course if you do your part and practice). The salsa and bachata sessions and social dance events are now part of my fun, relaxing time after busy, crazy working days. Thank you Aleks and TDS team for your great efforts.

I really loved the Salsa Nightclub 1 class and my two left feet boyfriend did too! Aleks gives you plenty of different ways to think about the steps to get your body to follow along and is so funny while doing it. His passion for dance will make you passionate and the class helpers are so gentle. This was a really positive experience and I can't wait to start a new class.

I really like our instructor Alex. His classes are real fun! There are positive points and negative points about the Salsa basic class. The positive points are: 1- Our class was always clean and the atmosphere was great. 2- The assistants were absolutely helpful and caring. However, compared to 9 weeks we can do more than what we learned, and I would add that you cannot take any video from the classes and you will completely forget the moves the next session. Finally, I think that this class was fun and made me happy but for someone like me who takes dance seriously, it was not quite a fit.

Aleks is awesome. Great sense of humour. Spreads love and joy all around who comes into the studio. Lessons are taken at a steady pace but still has its moment of a challenge. Awesome place to have a good time on a Saturday night.

I highly recommend this dance school. You will definitely learn how to dance even if you don't have a partner or feel like your both feet are left or feel shy, the place and people are welcoming. Alex is a great instructor and other instructors are hand-picked. But it is not only a dance school, it is a place that attracts good people with good values. You can make a lot of friends there. My favourite part of a class is actually the inspiring story at the end. It is not easy to open up and be vulnerable and at the same time it shows people with same kind of vulnerabilities that there is a way. Thank you, Alex! Those sharings changed a lot of lives for sure. It definitely helped me. I also met a number of good people there and enjoyed every class. I will keep coming and taking lessons. Location: easy to access, there is a free 90 min parking. Socials: great and affordable way to practice. See ya there!

Discovering Toronto Dance Salsa, under the inspiring guidance of Aleks, the owner and instructor, has been a transformative experience for me. This isnโ€™t just a dance school; itโ€™s a vibrant sanctuary where loneliness fades away, and a sense of belonging flourishes. Aleksโ€™ mission to combat the worldโ€™s โ€˜lonelyโ€™ problem shines through in every aspect of the school. His unique approach, embodied in the hashtag #belong, is not just a tagline but a living, breathing ethos here. Every salsa and bachata lesson with Aleks is more than just learning dance steps; itโ€™s an immersion into a family that celebrates every individual. His passion for dance and his commitment to creating an inclusive, welcoming environment is palpable. His teaching style is both empowering and nurturing, ensuring that everyone, regardless of their background or skill level, finds their place on the dance floor. The classes at Toronto Dance Salsa are a blend of skill training and sheer joy. Aleksโ€™ ability to connect with each student, infusing confidence and a sense of community, makes every session special. The energy in the room is always uplifting, with laughter and music being as much a part of the lessons as the dance steps themselves. But itโ€™s not just about the classes. The social events and practice sessions are where the magic of #belong really comes alive. Here, the diverse tapestry of students comes together, bonded by a shared love for dance and a mutual respect that Aleks fosters. These gatherings are more than just dance practice; theyโ€™re a celebration of belonging, a testament to the power of dance in bringing people together. In essence, Toronto Dance Salsa, led by the visionary Aleks, is more than a dance school. Itโ€™s a beacon of community and joy, a place where the โ€˜lonelyโ€™ find a family, and everyone is welcomed with open arms. For anyone seeking not just to learn salsa or bachata, but to find a place where they truly belong, this is the place to be. Heartily recommended!

Extremely friendly and welcoming environment. Aleks does a wonderful job on the keeping the classes engaged and tensionless. I definitely recommend TDS for anyone that's interested and/or on the fence. (Coming from someone that's never been interested in dances before)

You will absolutely LOVE learning new salsa moves with Aleks and his team. I love the energy, vibe, easy to follow teaching and most important - the one hour is sooo much fun. I joined these classes with my husband and we having a great time learning new moves every week. We went to a different salsa studio years ago and didn't enjoy it as much as we do with the Toronto Dance Salsa team. I highly recommend that you choose this company as everyone is so welcoming, friendly and willing to help and teach. The best part is the stories that Aleks shares that bring people together. Thank you so much for this fun experience and looking forward to going to upcoming socials and the next level in salsa :)

My husband and I have been taking salsa with Aleks (and his wonderful team) for over 5 months. In that time, he has been very caring, compassionate and patient with us. Aleks treats each student with their own goals and level in mind. My husband and I decided to take salsa level 1 again to fine tune our technique and gain more confidence and were not ashamed to do so with Aleks guidance. Best decision ever. Now we are in salsa level 2 and cannot be happier. We always look forward to the positive energy each week. Honestly, it's not about just salsa but about the community of people he's brought together.

I've taken lessons here and the instructor Aleks is absolutely great and was extremely supportive. Additionally, he facilitates AMAZING socials, with both great lessons before starting social dancing and great music during. I always have a blast at the socials and also end up learning a few new dance moves !

Come to dance , stay for community. Toronto Dance Salsa is to my mind the best place to meet new people and have fun in the Willowdale/North York area. Aleks, the owner and instructor is energetic and sets a welcoming tone for the class centred around belonging. He has assembled a team of kind and patient class helpers to guide students from their basic steps through to really flowing with the salsa/ bachata music. In addition, the people you will meet tend to be introspective, humble and filled with positivity. I canโ€™t recommend enough for anyone looking to find a new hobby, meet new friends (and good people), who loves salsa or bachata music or really anyone looking for non-judgmental connection in the dance community.

Just join , and start your dance journey or continue progressing it. This team will make you feel that you #belong. I had an amazing experience during Bachata level 1 and planning to continue. You won't go wrong by taking class or a two ( or go all the way to pro :p ), or the social dance evenings. You won't regret it. Thanks Aleks and team.

UPDATE: Itโ€™s been about a year since I first started and Iโ€™ve learned SO much. Iโ€™ve made some really great friends here as well. Itโ€™s unreal how much Iโ€™ve learned in such a short period of time. I started at TDS three months ago. Since then Iโ€™ve completed Bachata I. Iโ€™m currently enrolled in Salsa I and Bachata II. I had no dance experience prior to starting and I was so nervous at first. But that quickly went away once entering the class. The environment is so welcoming and positive. Aleks, Shelley, and the helpers are so friendly and encouraging. Dance classes are my favourite part of the week now! Theyโ€™re so much fun and Iโ€™m learning a lot.

Very warm and welcoming environment. My partner and I have a lot of fun each week even though we are not dancers. Highly recommend for any couples (or non-couples!) who want to learn something new and just want to have a little fun. Each class is a treat!

My experience with TDS is nothing short of amazing, phenomenal, marvelous, incredible, fun, and full of laughter. Aleks and the entire TDS family are just wonderful people. Mina, Tanya, Pat, Eric, Snehya (I'm sorry if I spelled it wrong) are all lovely people, always ready to help and are very approachable. It is more than just a dance studio, they weren't kidding when they say it is a family. Everyone is very welcoming and you can't help but feel like you belong. I attended Bachata Level 1 every Monday evening and it was such a blast! I have never thought in my life I will look forward to Mondays but I was proven wrong. I will absolutely, without a shadow of a doubt, recommend TDS to a friend. If you are on the fence whether you want to sign up for a class or not, all you need to do is drop by at the location whenever there is a class and the smiles of the students, the assistants, and the teacher should be more than enough to convince you. You don't have to take my word for it, you can see it for yourself with your own eyes just how much fun everyone is having while learning. Aleks and the entire TDS family. Thank you so much! I appreciate every single one of you more than you know.

Great place to start your bachata journey. Aleks is one of the rare dance instructors who makes the studio a personable and friendly place. The pacing of the lessons is excellent. He gives individual feedback to everyone. And he is very hardworking. It seems like he runs the entire studio and I am amazed at his energy. I hope he gets a day off some time. Lol. You will make friends here. Because of the good vibes.

TDS stands out from all other dance places with Aleks tricks to make a dance move easier and the feeling of community due to a 8 week class structure. I tried learning Salsa to another place before TDS for 6 months but i couldnt because i felt that place didnt have sufficient handholding to learn dance , the field in which TDS excels. Also no drop in structure of class allows friendship to form with other class mates. Its the best place to have fun while learning dance and while dancing.
