In
the
middle
of
the
Pierre
Goudouli
garden
there
is
a
fountain
with
in
its
center
the
statue
of
the
so-called
Pierre
Goudouli,
an
Occitan
poet
from
the
17th
century
who
contributed
to
trying
to
keep
the
Occitan
language
alive
through
a
collection
of
poems.
The
statue
was
made
in
1898
by
the
Toulouse
sculptors
Alexandre
Falguière
and
Antonin
Mercié
who
were
both
excellent
sculptors
and
classical
painters.
Unfortunately
the
statue
was
composed
in
an
angular
post-modernist
style
which
was
not
unanimously
accepted.
It
was
finally
inaugurated
and
installed
in
1908
in
the
place
where
it
still
stands
today.
More
than
a
century
later
this
statue
might
need
repair.
I
warn
parents
that
the
said
fountain
in
the
center
of
the
garden
is
surrounded
by
a
pool
which
has
no
security
so
it
is
easy
for
a
little
one
or
even
a
less
young
one
to
fall.
It's
not
deep,
40
centimeters
at
most,
but
be
careful.
I
give
three
stars
because
although
the
place
is
beautiful,
the
statue
does
not
look
too
attractive
in
my
eyes,
especially
since
it
was
made
by
very
good
classical
sculptors.
