A world heritage site and wonderful church in the centre of Toulouse. The area around the church has gradually been improved so that it is now a lovely place to sit or stroll. The church itself is magical. Don’t miss the relics under the choir which can be visited for free

A magnificent church accompanied by a beautiful garden. It only takes you about 15 minutes to tour the church but it's worth it. You can combine it with a visit to the museum of Saint-Raymond next door to better understand the history of the area.

Toulouse is my favourite French city. The atmosphere, romance and love is definitely in the air. This particular cathedral is something out of medieval France where it takes you to another dimension. I sat there for a good hour after a day of walking and exploring the city meditating and it felt amazing. I am hoping to explore the city in the future and definitely will visit this place again.

It is located on the site of an ancient 4th-century basilica that contained the body of Saint Saturninus or Sernin, the first bishop of Toulouse. One of the symbols of Toulouse, this brick and stone basilica is certainly imposing. It has a 21 meter high nave, whose vault is richly carved, it also has a wooden and gold-plated marble canopy, as well as medieval frescoes that are so vivid that they appear to move! Its style is Romanesque.

Extraordinary cathedral with impressive crypt. It should be on every must-visit list for Toulouse. Entrance is free and even at a second visit we saw many new interesting things.

Interesting mix of architecture . It was built and added to over the years . There are early arched windows , plus diamond windows from late 1300, early 1400 and two white stone doorways , added more recently, contrasting with the local red brick materials .

I like it and recommend its visit. Take notice to the sepulcrum and on the abside how Jesus is portrayed in a very different manner. Look up and you'll see, Him, looking at you. Worth the visit, definately.

One of the most beautiful cathedrals I have ever seen. Absolutely worth it. I was fortunate to be there while there was a wedding and I could hear the church organ in full swing. Lovely experience.

I enjoyed visiting this Basilica. It has a lot of historical significance for being on El Camino, The pilgrimage path to the shrine of St James the Greater in Santiago de Compostela. It is a UNESCO world Heritage site. And the building was absolutely fabulous. Of course it's free to enter as are all Catholic Churches. Very much recommended!

Very beautiful and impressive old church from the 1600s. Sadly the day we visited the front was having work done so was partially hidden by scaffolding

Very high ceiling typical of French Gothic. More austere and aesthetically inferior comparea to its Northern counterparts... To visit in absence of something else to do

Impressive Basilica with some amazing history. Would recommend reading about it before you go, so you know what you are seeing. I liked the fact that it was free to visit even though it is a UNESCO world heritage site.

(Visited March 2016) If traveling and visiting on a Saturday, then you're in for a treat!! Not sure if they still do it since the pandemic but on Saturday mornings there is a flee market from locals that line the sidewalks surrounding this beautiful Church. It was very interesting to see the local history through the local's offerings and we did buy a small little trinket that we still have on the shelf. The architecture is absolutely beautiful, even though it being dated and it shows it's still remarkable how such things were designed and built in such times and places. Church had corridors as you enter to give the feeling of almost a mid-evil setting, dark and dingy as you enter the church hall. Then breathtaking hall!!! A must see if in the area and especially on a Saturday for the market!

The Basilica of Saint-Sernin is a church in Toulouse, France. Belonging to the Roman world, which contained the body of Saint Saturnin or Sernin, the first bishop of Toulouse in c. 250. Must visit place if you travel to Toulouse 🙂 Constructed in the Romanesque style between about 1080 and 1120. On November 29, the Christian community of Toulouse celebrates the Feast of Saint Saturnin, the occasion for a whole veneration of relics. That day, from 9 a.m., the people of Toulouse flock to Mass at the Tomb, around the tomb of the Holy Martyr. At the end of the mass, you can visit this place.

Beautiful church, located on the site of a previous basilica of the 4th century. Constructed in Romanesque style in the 11th/12th centuries it's supposed to be the largest Romanesque building in Europe and it is an UNESCO World Heritage Site on the route to Santiago de Compostela. It is large, beautifully build and certainly worth a visit if you are in the area.

Catholic Basilica in the heart of Toulouse. Free to enter. Has a small crypt area you can access. As an active church it does feel a bit like any other large church, but still worth visiting.

Impressive church with a nice garden and open spaces around it. Visiting is free, and well worth 15 minutes of your time. The crypts in particular are something you don’t see in most churches.
