The construction of this Roman Catholic church began in 1230 AD, built entirely of red bricks (symbol of the city of Toulouse). The impressive vault reaches a height of 22 meters, which is beautiful and impressive. Since 1369 the church of the Jacobins is the resting place of the theologian and philosopher St. Thomas Aquinas. It is a must visit!

The chapel features beautiful stained windows, each of which is different and unique. The garden inside the basilica is beautiful. There is a temporary photography exhibition when I visit. It’s free for students so I wouldn’t complain anything about it.

Fantastic bit of architecture, we were there when the sun was shining through the stained glass and it looked incredible. The entrance is free unless you want to go to the cloister which is 4 Euro. The relics of Thomas Aquinas were on display and its a great place to see.

Love the gotic church a lot. Never had been in such structure, only the traditional one, three or five alleys bit never on two. The space is awesome from the interior or its presence on the exterior. What is making me think is the almost lgbtq+ art installation inside. Oh you have the remains of St Thomas Aquino inside. Pretty awesome.

Loved that place. The couvent itself was amazing with the sun reflecting throughout the windows, giving a mystic atmosphere. But my favorite part was the cloister! Beautiful and so peaceful place. I even managed a little power nap on the long chairs provided. The exhibition on Capitole opera was amazing! Highly recommend it! 👌

Absolutely loved this place. The sun was shining through the stained glass and looked amazing. The palm vaulting is fascinating. Worth paying to go into the cloisters. We were lucky because a pianist was practising for a recital and the music really enhanced our visit.

Any place of prayer is something that calms the mind, in my opinion. The is a true oasis in the city. Come early in the morning or late in the day to see glorious light flooding through the windows. The cathedral and its cloister is a wondrous place with its incredible architecture and dedication to prayer. It will leave a mark when you step out of the door and back into the streets.

Impressive Jacobin church with serene atmosphere. Free to enter, with boards around providing information in French, English and Spanish. The stain glass windows look great. You can pay €5 to go into the cloister area, which includes beach chairs to sit on. Well worth a visit to the church, even if you don't go into the cloister.

The rather austere brick façade of this church in a former convent conceals a magnificent and lofty interior with slender columns that sustain palm-like vaults. The last one, near the apses, is particularly spectacular. A must-visit if you think you could admire Medieval Gothic architecture. Admission is free.

This old convent is a stunning piece of architecture in the heart of Toulouse, that has been transformed into a modern art museum. One of the most particular and striking features of this place is the neon lighting that has been installed throughout the building. To be honest, it was unexpected for me to find these lights in such a historic building, but in fact they truly add a new dimension to the experience. They enhance the artwork, creating a vibrant and dynamic atmosphere that is sure to captivate all types of visitors. A must-visit destination in Toulouse.

The chapel and cloisters are beautiful, and the panels are informative and well thought out. The pineapple ceiling is truly an impressive piece of engineering. However, the highlight of the visit was the temporary exhibit about the opera of Toulouse, which was really quite extraordinary. The sheer number of exhibits in that one room was almost overwhelming. Would highly recommend for anyone who enjoys the theatre!

Now a museum this deconsecrared church was home of the Dominicans. It contains the tomb of St Thomas Aquinas who belonged to the order. The cloister and museum are accessible (for €4) from inside the church which itself is free. Like most of Toulouse it is made of brick, the city having a sandy loam instead of natural stone Don't miss the palm pillar vaulting the ceiling. From its unostentatious entrance, the whole is an oasis in the city with some absorbing history. The refectory, for instance, was used in the nineteenth century by the military to train horses. Look out for the video about the autodidact Maurice Prin who restored the site in the 1950s using, in part, pillar capitals scavenged from other ruined cloisters he found along the Pyrenees. There are loos inside the cloister, a shop but no cafe.

This major convent of the Domenican order offers a stunningly large church with beautiful stained glass ceilings and supporting pillars. A golden box underneath the central altar holds the remains of Thomas Aquinas. Entry to the church is free. There is a small fee of you want to visit the adjacent courtyard and scriptorium.

Beautiful convent rich in history, there was a very interesting exhibition. We were surprised to see a restaurant in one side of the cloister. I’m sure there was a reason for this but it’s a pity, it breaks the whole atmosphere.

I was denied entry with a valid American CDC vaccination card (which was accepted in every museum and even for immigration). The French health site says CDC cards are acceptable documents but seems like this landmark decided to choose a xenophobic policy. Specially ironic for a religious place.

Such a beautiful church. I love the modest outside compared to the simple beauty of the inside details. Of course the famous "palmtree" of the Jacobins is a wonderful sight. The choice of colours is quite unsual for a church and that was my favourite part. While I was visiting the cloisters it happened that there was a piano festival happening and I was fortunate to watch a piano seánce just by myself in such an incredible venue.

Very impressive structure with a nice garden on the inside. Nice place to come out for pictures. Although vast open space on the inside of the church there is not much to see.

What an amazing place ! If you're into history... This is your place. Amazing staff, easy accessible and not to mention the beautiful garden they have at the back.

A deeply moving experience. After reading much of the writings of Saint Thomas Aquinas, I was delighted to see his reliquary in the main altar of the church. The apse of the church is a glorious rainbow of colors bathing the main altar. Be sure to visit the cloister adjoining the church. A very beautiful and peaceful setting. You can imagine the monks walking through in deep contemplation.

A hidden gem that's worth a visit if you're in the area. Entrance is free. It is a church and Dominican monastery built in 1229 and is now the mother church of the Dominican order. One of the slender columns holding up the roof of the church is known as the “Palm Tree”, supporting 22 ribs of the vaulted roof, an impressive architectural feat at the time. St. Thomas Aquinas is buried beneath the church altar. Other than that, there is not much else.

Impressive main building with amazing stain class windows and an interesting light and sound art installation. Cloister is very impressive and an interesting interactive and informative display in the old rectory.

An iconic place in the pink city. I had the chance to discover it during the piano festival in September and I advise everyone to visit it. ❤️

Fantastic gothic convent building, and a nice shop. Very little to view inside except for some screens, reproduction of the times or maybe a AR experience would improve the experience of visiting.

Impressive place full of history, a few euros are due for the cloister. There are restrooms and a gift shop

Superb examples of gothic vaults, but restauration made it look a bit too modern. The multicolored shadows made by geometric stained glasses remind me of Iranian mosques. I don't think jesuites would have approved that, but the final effect is beautiful

Beautiful. A must see in Toulouse and a piece of history. Beautiful and peaceful cloister worth visiting (4€ for it and other rooms).

Although we had hopes before arriving, our expectations were far exceeded. A fascinating and unique place historically, culturally, architecturally..

I especially loved the cloister/garden, but the church is stunning, too. Interesting exhibit on opera costumes and props.
