Very unique museum about the machine. There are many interesting objects and you will be surprised to see the giant Centaurus moving. Strongly recommend to give a visit with your kids.

Similar concept to the Halle de la Machine in Nantes, which showcases fancy robot animals. The highlights in Toulouse are the Minotaur, the Dragon, and the giant spider. The idea is fun, and kids always fall in love with the place. Highly recommended for families.

This is such a fun and whimsical place. I was visiting Toulouse and my friend took me to visit this place since my engineering/tinkerer mind would love it. She wasn't wrong, I loved seeing the machines in action and the playful way the mechanics engaged with the audience to explain stories about the machines to bring them to life. The work they do is impressive...if I could have a dream job it would be to design and build machines at this place! Highly recommend the visit. I did go for a spin on the minotaur. It was okay, and maybe kids would enjoy it a bit more. A simple visit to the hall is a must though!

Unless you understand French, else nothing much u can do. All the machines you are unable to try it, just can take a look. Unless you are lucky when you are there and have the staff over there so you can see how it works, else just simply watch it. For the roadshow, i strongly recommended not to ride it. It is better u stand outside and watch it, better than you ride it, you can't see anything from the top. There is no show on how to operate the other two giant machines as well. Overall, it is a good concept, but i think need more organized planning

As previous reviews have said, understanding and communicating in french is vital when attending this museum. However, that wasn't the case for us being that one person in our group is French. A very interesting dedicated museum to invention and great possibilites. Staff were all polite and friendly, with lots of things to look at. There was also some demonstrations of how many contraptions worked. We also got to go on the minotaur which we all enjoyed. A worthwhile visit for sure.

Went on a Thursday afternoon. There were about 20-30 others there, and the staff were only demonstrating one machine at a time. There are no written explanations of the machines, and you can't touch them yourself, so you can really only understand them through the demonstrations. Underwhelming experience. Some of the machines that the staff tried to demonstrate were not working properly. Took 30+ minutes to demonstrate the Nutella spreading machine, which isn't really functional - seemed more like a stand up comedy act. Even my French-speaking friend was bored. For non-French speakers, I'm not sure I would bother. Perhaps its better to go on a weekend when there are more staff presenting, and perhaps something in other languages.

A fun visit for all ages. The museum has many crazy inventions to fascinate those who like DIY gadgets. The giant models are "must photograph" items and the ride on the Minotaur finished off the afternoon beautifully. Good refreshment area. The gadgets can serve diners, eg pour your drink, but that's a separate item that is only available at certain dates and needs pre-booking. Also note that the neighbouring l'envol des pionniers is closed on Fridays).

What a unique and special day out! My girlfriend and I really enjoyed viewing many interesting and strange devices as we walked around inside the hall! We found the machinists to be full of energy and their passion for what they do really shone through! Yes, you cannot touch, but isn't this the case with any museum? I feel that such works would be easily damaged if left to the public to mess around with! And yes, the descriptions are written in French, which I should expect, seeing as we are in France! People who have left one-star reviews obviously lack the patience and creative imagination to enjoy such a collection of curiosities. We got to try out the catapult game and the iron slider, plus we were treated to displays of the various musical contraptions, the smoke ring blower, the odd apple biting machine (and it's hilarious operator) and the firework shooters! The gem of the crown though is the giant minotaur that casually strolls around outside and occasionally enters the warehouse to spray unsuspecting guests with water! A classic! The key to enjoying this attraction is to take it all in slowly and be patient as the limited number of operators make their way around the museum to show the various attractions in action. Simply popping in and walking around quickly will surely lead to your own personal dissatisfaction. Great for little kids and big kids (like myself) alike!

Loved it, especially since we had to discover everything ourselves. There was no structure or timing known ahead (we even asked and it was not given to us in order to prevent spoiling it), so we were walking around randomly to just take in everything. The music, beats, machines, smoke, fire... Amazing and mesmerizing! Something I've never seen before. Cons: The smaller machines around the dining table or bread dispenser were truly boring to see (especially with the tedious presentation by this one man the whole time). These things should inspire kids to become engineers or be creative with mechatronics. Those were completely redundant to keep the crowd busy. Didn't really feel the merch, missed so much potential as Im an engineer. Would've loved a cool shirt with mechanic or electronic schematics. Bus stops, bit of a walk (10 min). The bar/cafe didn't really have a lot, but it was decent.

I was very excited to visit this place but once we got there I was very unimpressed. I thought it was an interactive environment. We weren't allowed to touch any of the machines, There were very few staff to show the exhibits to us. In general we spent a lot of time waiting for staff. We went during the week when it was quiet, maybe on the weekend there is more staff.

TRASH, if I could reduce this exhibitionto in one word, it would be trash. A museum where they take all kinds of scrap and "build" "machines" in the most USELESS way possible, without any use. Expensive tickets to see a bunch of rubbish scattered around in a warehouse. I give 1 star only for the show given by the minotaur which is the only thing that really looks like something and works!

I came to the Halle des Machines and the machines are great, really But I am outraged as one of the employees, before demonstrating a machine in the building literally rolled himself a cigarette and lighted it up while speaking in front of kids. This is really not right and this should be sorted out ! This kind of behaviour should get them fired. Last review from 3 years ago :I put three stars because I was a bit disappointed. The Halle is massive and the machines are incredible. However you can not perform the tour by yourself, there are no signs to read apart from the name of the machines this is a shame when you pay 9 euros to get in. All machines there are in a working state but you can't touch them only the staff can and they take ages to show you the tinyest machine. On the other side the structures are incredible, the staff is passionate and the fact that they take the minotaure for a walk gives you the occasion to realise how majestic the whole parade can be. Definitely something to go with the little ones.

This place is awesome. We did a ride on the Minotaur and went two nights in a row for free concert events! Also recommend researching the revitalization of the site that Halle de la Machine is located on. It used to be an airplane tarmac! Now it’s a great hub surrounded by restaurants, bars, and housing.

An engineering fantasy world. Lots to see and the staff will demonstrate how the exhibits work. The Minotaur is the star of the show and you can take a ride. There is plenty of car parking and a train station is a few minutes walk away. There is a shop and restaurant.

Halle de la Machine was absolutely brilliant! The machines were awesome! I especially loved the ones that made music. The staff had an amazing sense of humour and I spent the whole afternoon smiling and laughing. They should be on TV! My father and brother don't speak French so one of the machinists demonstrated the machines to us in English. Over time, our English speaking group grew and then the groups merged which led to a bilingual demonstration of the machines which was hilarious. The machines outside were awesome and the water cannons were brilliant for cooling down on a boiling hot day. The machines were great but the staff made this an amazing experience! Patrick was an excellent machinist and really made sure we got the best out of our time there. Getting to use some fantastic machines and have fun demonstrating them must make being a machinist one of the best jobs ever! I would love to return one day!

Great place with great machines! We took a tour or Minotaur. But it’s pity that all machines inside don’t move at all. Do you just walk and watch. 30 miners is enough to see everything.

A unique experience, this is the interactive museum and storage location for the world renowned giant beasts seen in opening ceremonies around the world. The minotaur in the photo is the only one you can ride on, operated by at least 5 people you will have a 20 minute tour round the outside of the complex, and it briefly puts it's front inside the museum while you are aboard. The rest of the museum is wierd and wonderful interactive structures, some you can play with, others you watch the employees operate. Musical instruments, painbrushes dangling from the 10 ton overhead crane which paint a picture as the crane moves. A modified flat iron on rails that recreates the old fairground strength test - can you push it fast enough along the rails to get it up the vertical and hit the special effect at the top?

Great place, for children and adults alike. Luckily we arrived as the minotaur was moving so got to see it in action. There are lots of crazy machines which the staff demonstrate. Really good fun and the full size machines are interesting to look at.

I was conflicted if to give it 3 or for stars to be honest.. Quite a cool museum of very cool inventions, though I am a bit conflicted whether they really take consideration and care of the plants they are using for their inventions in consideration to climatic change and the fact we need those and more plants healthy. Most of the ones we have seen in the museum were pretty much dead. Not sure if the money is worth it; looks much cooler to see teaching moving from outside than actually being on it, but was interesting in general. There are no plackboards explaining what the inventions are doing and we needed to hunt for one of the guides who speaks English and mainly so they can understand my questios, my French is to a nice level for every day communication, but to understand technology needs more obviously. The museum is a bit out of the way so better with a car or time your bus properly. You will need at least 2 hours in the museum to properly see, understand and experience everything and about half an hour before close the instructors go to get ready to go home.

Incredible steam punk climate. Great machines and unique experience. Many activities that include actions from visitors. Great for kids 6+. Don't miss Minotaur trip, it makes huge impression. One of the best tourist attractions in Toulouse.

This is a must visit! Longma will be gone in September - she is a sight not to be missed. The whole experience was mesmerising!

Super cute. A must visit if you are in Toulouse. If you don't want to go inside for 9euros. At least come by in the afternoon to see the minotaur and pay the 3.5 euros to ride the carousel.

Need to book, if you want to ride on the big machine. Machine ride is outside, everything else under cover. Parking free on streets around.

Very impressive steampunk museum. Some massive and technically crazy constructions. Kids loved it. Also nice to see the many people working there with such enthusiasm. A treatment for your senses. About 2-3 hours of marvel

Super interesting, I really enjoyed the tour inside. The best part was being told stories and the working machines inside. I also participated in the bread demonstration and it was very funny. I highly recommend a visit in "Halle de la machine".
