We had a fantastic evening at Stretford Canteen. As residents of Stretford for 20 years it's so exciting to be able to have such good quality food within walking distance of home. We had been meaning to come for a few weeks and it really didn't disappoint. They have got great food and friendly staff in a good atmosphere and we'll definitely be back! We have just revisited tonight and with a different menu we had a great meal which worked well for my wife who is a pescetarian and really lovely flavours. It's still good value for the quality of the food and very busy Friday and Saturday nights so worth visiting earlier in the week.

Perfect neighbourhood bistro. Attention to detail, carefully considered and executed menu. The quality of the dishes is in the understanding of the flavours from the chefs-the sauce that accompanied the hake for example was outstanding. Other highlights were the whipped butter with big crunchy salt flakes, panisse and the wine list offered something different and exciting. The dessert wine and cheese board were the perfect end. Great service and atmosphere too. I've gushed enough, go as soon as you can!

Finally Stretford has a top class restaurant! Expect delicious French/British fusions, sublime wines and the best bloody Mary in Manchester. Definitely would recommend, you will not be disappointed!

This place is amazing, lovely family run bistro. We had the short beef rib with dauphinois potatoes, which was mouth watering, I can honestly say it was one of best meals I have ever tasted.

A wonderful, family run addition to Stretford. Exactly what we wanted. Went as a small group and from walking through the door felt welcomed. Plenty to choose from and large portions even on the starters. Well priced with lovely decore and excellent service. Will be visiting again very soon.

We loved every dish we had. Steak, chicken kyiv, potatoes, duck rilettes, goats curds and beetroot salad. Desserts were also great we had frangipane and profiteroles. Cocktails and wine also really enhanced the experience. Atmosphere was great. However, service was mixed, wouldn't stop us from coming back though.

We recently had Sunday lunch at Stretford Canteen, a quintessentially neighbourhood vibe for sure. We were thoroughly impressed with everything from start to finish. The atmosphere was fantastic, with a warm and inviting ambiance that made me feel right at home. The restaurant had an eclectic small selection of booze, very thoughtfully put together. We were particularly pleased with the Madeira and vermouth options. The food was outstanding, with each dish expertly prepared and beautifully presented. The flavors were bold and well balanced, and I was impressed with the quality of the ingredients used. I especially enjoyed the classic French dishes, which were cooked to perfection and had a great depth of flavor. Turbot with clams, beef short rib, Salmon clams and fennel. All the classics, executed with exceptional seasoning. The service was excellent, with the staff being attentive and friendly. They were knowledgeable about the menu and made great recommendations. The staff clearly takes great pride in their work and goes above and beyond to ensure their guests have an enjoyable experience. In conclusion, I highly recommend this bistro to anyone looking for a fantastic dining experience. The combination of great food, delicious wine, fantastic ambience, and outstanding service make it a standout in Manchester for sure. They have just this week been voted number one restaurant in Manchester by the Manchester Evening News. Fully justified at only 8 months old! something special is definitely going on at the Stretford Canteen. This family run eatery has been founded by Dean Taylor and Joe Sandwith, Daughter of the famous Manchester institution that was king in 70s, 80s and 90s Beaujolais – a much-loved restaurant that to this day my dad still bangs on about….

This is the place to visit if you enjoy beautiful, well thought out food, exceptional service and gorgeous cocktails. I can't praise this place enough, its a meal we will remember forever! The restaurant is quaint and cosy with a lovely atmosphere. We visited on Christmas eve and have already booked again to celebrate my birthday at the end of January. I can't recommend Stretford Canteen enough.

Wonderful, flavorful food, cooked to order, served in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere. It's like eating at home, If only I could cook like this! We love it so much we asked them to cater our wedding for 120. I've never had so many positive compliments about the style, service, menu and food at any party I have given before.Thank you Stretford Canteen.

Came here for my dads birthday and it was fabulous! Great atmosphere, lovely food and everyone who works here is lovely! It’s so nice having the small plates, very sociable and nice way to try everything as it’s all so good! We didn’t compromise on what we wanted and it was a really good price! We are local and will definitely be coming back!

Came with my mum for a late lunch/early dinner on a rainy Saturday. The service from start to finish was immaculate and personal and the atmosphere in the restaurant is calm and super pleasant (music selection is great too!). The food was amazing, you can tell every dish has been carefully thought through and crafted by the chefs. We had a generous selection and the wines we tried were incredible. Both came out happy and full in every sense of these words. Thank you to the team! :)

Went for an early dinner with our 1 year old yesterday and had such a lovely time. The staff were really accommodating and had a good high chair for the baby. The food was so good! Really nice relaxed vibe and a great selection of wines. A proper gem! Very reasonable prices too

Stretford Canteen is my go to local restaurant. The menu is modern French, all the ingredients are locally sourced, top quality and perfectly cooked. The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere, great choice of music to eat to. And this is a bit bizarre but the toilet is a sensory experience in itself! Highly recommended independently owned gourmet food destination in Stretford!

Really lovely cozy restaurant. Not too expensive and the dishes tasted like they were made with quality produce. We had a really nice dessert wine also.

Having read about Stretford Canteen online, we were determined to visit. Because of their limited opening hours, and our commitments, it took a few months for us to get there - but it was worth it. As advised by our server we took a 'tapas' approach and enjoyed a steady stream of delicious dishes that were beautifully presented and cooked to perfection. Our server was also able to offer information about the sourcing of ingredients. The team on duty during our visit could not have been better. With an ambience very much in keeping with that of a classic French Bistro, Stretford Canteen is definitely a place to return to - and to bear in mind for special occasions too.

Visited for the first time this evening. Absolutely faultless - calm, kind and thoughtful service. Beef to rival any and the many I have enjoyed in France. Portion sizes perfect and excellent value for money. An exciting headline to a prosperous and positive future for Stretford.

Was really excited to come here, French food is my favourite. Arrive, was ignored by the first two wait staff, finally someone comes over and seats us. At this point we are told a lot of the dishes are not available - which is disappointing - in fact the whole meal I wanted to order was off. Decided to stay and ordered a selection of food from the smaller starters and larger main courses. For some reason the bottle of water and wine cooler that we ordered took a long time to come, the staff were on the floor, but didn’t seem engaged with the customers - seemed to spend more time talking to each other - so service was patchy and slow. Regarding the food, the Panisse was lovely, sadly the rest of the meal was average (the chicken was something you could make as a midweek meal better) / the courgettes with the burrata we’re way to thick and under dressed / seasoned. The most anticipated dish was also the worst - anaemic rosti and stewed mushrooms. The waiter challenged me as to what the problem was - which was a little embarrassing- however the owner did come over and provided service recovery by the way of a free drink on the house. The wine was good, mark up of around 250% a little steep but I’m sure there is more value higher up the list. Sadly, I wouldn’t return.

Absolutely blooming fantastic. Our first time visiting this lovely little restaurant, but will not be our last. Already planning round 2.

A proper French bistro in the old style but with a modern twist. Run by the daughter (and her husband) of the 60's restauranteurs of Manchester's famous francophile institution, (the) Beaujolais, how could it not be good? We had the most classic of meals - slow cooked beef, dauphinoise potatoes and roasted vegetables - all top of the class. They have a very good wine list and bent over backwards to serve us even though we turned up at the end of service. A boon to the community.

👍👍 My second time at Chez Nous Bistro. The Sunday lunch / roast was excellent. Roast beef perfect medium rare as requested. It is a lovely, quaint bistro with nice, pleasant staff. 3 course meal at £22 with £3 supplement for the roast beef was good value for money. Keep up the good work.

👍👍 This place is a hidden gem. Happened upon it as I don’t live in the area but would make an effort to come back. The breakfast burrito was so good! Didn’t like black pudding so they happily swapped it for avo and it was the best breakfast burrito I’ve ever tasted. They also do a mean oat milk latte....
