5 stars for the fish n chips! 1 star for the service. The new owners have certainly kept the standards high of this lil awesome place however, the customer service is shabby. Not forgetting to mention the little Asian lad who has zero customer service skills and a rude temperament towards people. Otherwise, the owner seems very nice. Enjoy x

Hard, stodgy boiled rice that was clumpy, cold and frankly inedible. I ordered on the phone for collection yesterday and was really disappointed with the rice and mushy peas. The peas had a layer of cold grease formed around them in the shape of the polystyrene cup they are served in. I did try and contact Charlie’s on Facebook rather than outing them and leaving a negative review but not heard a thing. Not one to complain but would really like to know if this is the standard for all customers as it’s not cheap?

I travel all the way from SALE to get the best Fish n Chips in this side of Manchester. As the fish os white, fresh flavour a flaky. The chips chunk and well fried. Highly recomend it.

Used to love charlies chippy! Went in today for meat pie and regular chips. The pie had been microwaved and pastry was hard and I don't know what was going on with the chips but some were soggy & greasy and some were very dark/black but hard inside. Very disappointed as it wasn't cheap either!

Despite most of these fake reviews. Highly disappointed! Got small fish n chips n mushy peas and curry sauce. The fish was 2 pieces of pure batter and scraps of cod. The curry sauce wasnt the Irish curry sauce. I went back to the chippy and they gave me the correct one. When I poored it over the chips it was like water. It's obvious their trying to save money. £7.50 for a load of rubbish 🤑.. Never going back. Use to be decenta few years ago

Portions are ridiculous! Spent 15 quid on two LARGE fish and chips the fish was large but you could tell they had just scantilly thrown a few chips in and charged £7.50 each. Been coming here a while and I'm really disappointed this time at how they're overcharging.

Just visited this evening, fish was lovely and fresh, Irish curry is stunning, plenty of chips in a large portion, unfortunately peas were a bit bland and needed cooking for longer, service was great

I go to the sixth form near this chippy, so often come in on my lunch break. The chips are lovely and I really like the Irish curry! The staff are friendly and made me feel comfortable. Overall , when I go to get food there, I am satisfied and happy.

Best chippy around! I travel from out of the area, just to come here! Well worth it! Staff are great, and always so friendly and helpful! The Owner, Fiona has done this chippy proud! As it’s been around since well before I was a child and the food has always been spot on! Top fav : fish, chips, peas and Irish curry is a must 😍

I have been coming here on occasions with my son after his swimming lesson on Saturday's. The fish and chips is superb. The batter of the fish is crispy and the chips taste excellent. The Irish curry is a fantastic compliment to the food. The owner is hospitable and always serves customers with a smile. I’ve been an Urmston resident for many years and hands down this place is miles ahead in terms of taste and quality compared to any other chippy is Urmston. Keep up the great work!

Delicious chips! Fluffy on the inside and crispy on the outside. Boy with red sleeves was very friendly and very helpful with my order! Definitely coming back again!! 😊

Used to be our go to chippy but has been on the slide for years, the last few times we have been it’s be very disappointing and again tonight have got our tea home, the chips are anaemic, stone cold and more expensive than ever. Will be going elsewhere for our chippy teas from now on…

Very generous with their portions and the food tastes great. The staff are kind and welcoming too. They were quick to give me my food and it’s a fair price as well.

Chips and gravy were lovely. Crispy, fluffy and hot with no oily after taste. Glad I dipped in for a quick lunch. Will be back, thank you. X

The portion size is not worth the money, staff training on portion control, maybe just started working there or not up to strach with understanding how much chips to put in boxes, 3pound 75p more on the food i had ordered, is that the box and paper bag price on top of food order. 😕

FINALLY!!! A chip shop that actually does really nice chips! I had chips and fishcake. These are the nicest chips I've had in years, there was not one black bit on them, every single one was edible, amazing, super rare to find that these days. Fishcake was the proper chip shop type. I'll definately be going back when I'm in the area next.

Having heard good things about this chip shop I decided to try it out myself. As soon as I walked in I noticed that most of the staff were basically children, only a year or two out of primary school. However, as I was only one of 2 customers I was asked immediately what I would like by a polite young lady. I replied please could I have chips with Irish curry and a meat pie to which I was asked by a keen young lad if I would like salt a vinegar on my chips. No thank you I replied to which the young girl replied it won't be a minute. During the following couple of minutes the angry looking lady who was obviously in charge told the young staff not to switch off as the shop was not closed and to keep busy and also to make sure to remove the meat pie from the microwave with 30 seconds remaining! The nice staff who were obviously mortified wrapped my food and said to enjoy my food. When I got home and unwrapped the pie it looked and tasted disgusting, it had clearly been reheated more than once and tasted stale and dry! These owners are on the brink of modern slavery and must hope every night they don't get a visit from the food hygiene people! Never again will I set foot in that dingy little establishment

Staff were lovely but unfortunately our order of large fish and chips did not represent good value. Chips seemed to be refried as they were very hard and to be honest pretty much inedible. Fish itself was ok but mushy peas didn't taste very nice either, seemed to be quite tasteless. Disappointing as I have been in previous years where it has been nice but not sure if they have made changes.

Friendly staff, always polite and welcoming. Was in a rush so had a Friday chippy tea this week. Everyone at home was happy with thier meal, all said great food. Thank you Charlies.

Went to this chippy this evening asked if I could pay on card and was told no by rude young man, so had to go to the cash machine, when I came back the woman next to me paid by card 🤷, when I got home the food was cold!

Positivity all around this chippy. I can see why it is voted 4th best chippy in Manchester. Amazing, generous and polite staff. Wheelchair accessibility if needed around the back. Parking is great as many people park in the proper Eden Square car park so the car park next to Charlie's Chippy is wonderful, free and open to anyone. It has disabled parking spots aswell for people. 5 out of 5.

Best fish and chips by fare, good quality service you must give it a try.

Just stopped here today to by some lunch. New owners here now, not the original Charlie but the food is still very good. The place is even cleaner, probably the cleanest pie and fish display cabinet I have seen in any chip shop. Would have given 5 stars but the chips need to be a little crisper on the outside for my taste, and needs more salt and vinegar if asked for.

Fish wasnt nice seem liked it was overcooked the chips were ok both meals wasnt worth the long trip to try this place not sure if id go back. Two Saturday ago around 530pm was when i came in

Fish was very large and crispy. The Irish gravy was delicious. I'm looking forward to coming back soon.

I have been going to this chip shop for years, I love Charlie he’s a lovely guy, however sinse a change of management, the staff hired are not great , the young guy is lovely some of the ladies not so much .. how can I tell you what I want if you are talking over me at lightening speed? Second time I have had an issue, I’ll stick to the good catch on Brooke road

Been eating chips from Charlie’s since I was a toddler. Love the way the new owners have kept the great service going. Even when they’re busy and I ask for my chips to be cooked longer because I like them crispy they do it with a smile. Thanks guys 👏
