Very good restaurant in the historical centre of Troyes. Interior is very tasteful decorated. The staff is friendly. Food was very good and fresh. Champaign is used to make Kirr Royal.

The most lovely restaurant in Troyes. You can choose the onion soup or the grilled fish together with their selection of wine 🍷 This restaurant discovers recently a cave underground!

Exceptionally interesting and creative food. Some retro like devilled eggs and some Asian fusion like my steamed sea bass, salmon and prawn with Japanese sauce. Great ambiance and excellent service. Want to go back all the time!

The time on google is not accurate and the lady on the front kick us like we were wrong... even with empty tables. The lady on the pic was very rude

Excellent experience in Troyes, great food and service not a tourist stop but real French food at a good price. Our complements to the wait staff and chef, very efficient team working together.

L'Illustré is a popular french brasserie in the historical heart of Troyes city. Once inside you can admire the typical wooden beam construction for which the Troyes' historical heritage is so well-known. Furthermore L'Illustre serves typical french dishes with a lot of taste and flair. The staff is friendly and co-operative. The place is definitely honest and not to be considered as a tourist trap.

Great place for a relaxed meal. Friendly service, great food (varied menu with some veggie options), and good wines. Would return

Service was quite chaotic and erratic, but in the end they managed to get everything on the table. Food was very good quality and staff very friendly.

Fantastic food and very professional service. A great brasserie. We had a tuna tartare, a fillet steak and a burger, and all were excellent.

Returned to L'Illustre for dinner enroute back to the UK from a skiing trip having had a wonderful meal there last year. Unfortunately it had changed in our view quite significantly to what felt like part of a generic chain. The menu was limited and uninspired. My meal was brought to the table barely lukewarm and I sent it back, my wife's was only slightly better and she ate hers ...mine was returned after she had finished....the meal was OK not the great meal we had previously.... very disappointed.

Great place to grab a drink and sit in the beautiful narrow streets and watch the people walk by. Especially good on a hot sunny day was there is plenty of shade. UPDATED: Although my usual place to grab a coffee and watch the world go by, my Christmas visit was not so good. My typical Long Coffee arrived and was closely followed by the bill for €4.40! The dozen previous times I've had the same coffee here it's less than €2. I mentioned this to the waiter. He apologised and said he had ordered the wrong thing - it looked and tasted the same to me. His apology did nothing in regards to the cost. It remained over double the price. Needless to say I will be finding another place for a coffee in the future.

Really lovely place with such friendly and welcoming service. Have a great range of food including vegetarian dishes which aren't always easy to find in smaller towns in France. Large selection of wine also

Big place with an upstairs so accommodated a big group with no booking on a saturday. Very french menu ( hardly surprising) not cheap but not too expensive either. After dinner, cafe gourmand very good.

Feel like I ate in a different place to all the reviews !!! Waiter forgot our drinks, my partner got wrong salad mine had no dressing and was full of limp lettuce !! The waiter that served didn’t have the curtesy to acknowledge that he had heard us and then tried to embarrass us by suggesting that tap water would suit us !!! RUDE !!

Delicious food and very helpful staff. We arrived very late at 10.p.m but were able to get a table. I had a gorgeous goat's cheese salad and my husband had a melt in the mouth fillet steak. We were made to feel very welcome and our waitress( unfortunately I don't know her name) was delightful. Very reasonable prices too for such high quality food. Would cost a small fortune in the UK! Highly recommend this place.

Rude service by the waiter ( the name on the bill was Nathan). Plenty of tables in the shade (33C) but the waiter made us move to one in full sun. I accept our French is poor but he brought 2 beers we hadn't ordered. A lady on the next table translated and explained we hadn't ordered them. He still pretended he didn't understand and wouldn't take them away. In fairness our platters of cheese and ham very very good but we knew the bill would include the untouched beers which it did. Fortunately another waiter resolved it but the poor service had tainted any pleasure in the lunch. By far the worse service we have encountered in France on this trip.
