Very good fish dishes. Definitely thumbs up. Friendly staff. Updated AUG 2023: The restaurant has the same prices as the Bucharest branch (very expensive) and the fish soup was tasteless, so the dishes are for the tourists, losing the local deltaic flavour.

Great food! Clean bathrooms, nice staff. Probably the best fish I’ve ever had. We came off season so some of the courses were not available, but other than that - a lovely surprise in Tulcea.

Excellent fish restaurant on the Danube side. The menu is limited which for me is a sign of authenticity. Also, according to the staff all the fish served is fresh and comes from the Danube. The prices are also very reasonable. Ate here 4 times (every evening during our stay in Tulcea).

Renowned for its fish dishes, Ivan delivers in full - excellent service, very good food (quickly served) and all seasoned with sone Danube views. Just great! Be prepared as it is on the upper price range.

Nice food for fish dishes lovers, fast and polite serving, good prices and plenty of option in menu to chose from. All dishes made with fresh local fish, you can eat inside where they have air conditioning and also outside on the terrace. Also they have inside a gift shop where you can find something suitable for all ages. No booking need , for sure I'l visit again.

Malasolca, is a dish name that sounds weird but exotic. Malasolca means a little salty in Russian (mala-a little, salionîi / salionaia means salty). It is made from dried fish, just like scordolea. They are simple, fishy dishes with a special taste. Ingredients: Dried fish, potatoes garlic or horseradish hot peppers-optional. I made this description for others to avoid surprises as I did. I chose a dish that unfortunately it tasted strange. I am originally from that area and for me it should not have been a problem reinterpreting the recipe but here there was a problem with the fish that had a different taste. Maybe it wasn't fresh, maybe it wasn't properly coocked. I recommend to try the restaurant when you go to Tulcea, but I advise trying scordolea from their menu, that is also a traditional food and delicious! Prices are medium, with a good value for money.

I'm sorry but I really couldn't eat it. Terrible in taste ... a little imagination and fantasy in preparing dishes would be useful in this place. The given to us English-language menu is a lack of professionalism and respect for a foreign customer. I'm sorry but I cannot recommend your place to other travelers like us.

Friendly staff and very welcoming, the food was really good, one of the soups was not as hot as we would loved it to be, we forgot about it quickly as the main course was spot on. It was warm outside but we decided to dine inside due to the comfortable seating and slightly rustic style.

The best location for traditional Danubian Delta cuisine in Romania including many dishes which are not easily found elsewhere. Great location right in front of the Danube offering beautiful views and easily accessible in Tulcea. Highly recommend the Storceag soup. Excellent local Dobrogean wine options are a big plus. Staff was great throughout our whole meal.

Of course, here's a sample text you could use: "I recently eat at this restaurant and unfortunately, my experience was quite disappointing. Not only did I receive poor service, but I also encountered an instance of racism that left me deeply unsettled. The service at the restaurant was incredibly slow and inattentive. Despite a relatively empty dining area, it took an unreasonable amount of time for the waitstaff to acknowledge my presence and take my order. Throughout the meal, I struggled to get their attention for basic requests like water refills and condiments. This lack of attention significantly detracted from the overall dining experience. What was even more distressing, however, was an incident of racism that occurred during my visit. A staff member made a racially insensitive comment that not only shocked me but also made me feel unwelcome and uncomfortable. Racism has no place in any establishment, and encountering such behavior is deeply disappointing and hurtful. I believe it's crucial for Ivan Pescar to address these issues promptly and effectively. Improving their service quality and ensuring a welcoming and inclusive environment for all customers should be a top priority. I hope that my feedback can contribute to positive changes and prevent others from having similar negative experiences in the future."

Very good food and affordable. The restaurant has a nice view over the Danube, but if you go there on weekends, prepare to wait at least 1 hour for most of the food. Tip: if you are hungry, ask the waiter what are the dishes that come faster (ex: if you want something prepared in the over can last longer).

The food is great and the service is always good. So you don't need to wary for anything, just enjoy the order and relax.

Arrived here thanks to a recommendation. The place is very cozy, with a various fiah menu. I tried the whelk with spicy sauce and it was a delight. The whelk was soft and well cooked. Try the desserts, they are delicious!

Amazing fish-roe salad, a very diverse deltaic menu. It was my first time eating in Tulcea - a place to return whenever in the area.

Never disappoints. One of the few restaurants we always visit when we're in Tulcea. The service has always been on point, the food never took more than 20 minutes to arrive and try as we might we could not find many faults in the dishes themselves. Overall a great dinning experience. One issue, as I am writting this, was the construction project happening just in front of the restaurant.

As expected in a fish bar in Romania, the veggie options were limited... However, what we had was fine. Staff were friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere was welcoming. They didn't even mind us watching Boris Johnson's resignation whilst we ate!!

Exquisite food. We had the Ivan platter as a starter and as main dish, the Sturgeon brine and the Zander a la plancha with polenta and garlic sauce (they’ve been so kind to amend the dish for us). Service extremely friendly. After having tried the other 2 good restaurants in Tulcea, can definitely say this is the best place to eat in town.

When visiting Tulcea I had to eat fish for dinner. Permanent. After looking and checking there was simply no other place to go than the Ivan Pescar fish bar for the best fish restaurant in town. Arriving here on a Thursday evening it wasn't crowded at all. I have been served very quickly by a friendly English speaking waitress. Looking inside the kitchen you directly have the feeling the food will be prepared instantly and not in advance. Good signs. For a pre-starter I took the Marinated Sardines in wine/oil/spicy oil (Sardeluță marinată în vin / ulei / ulei picant) which was tasty and lovely with my red wine. It could be perfect if they don't serve the red wines cold, such a shame cause after a while when it reaches surrounding temperature it taste delicious! There was some cork inside the glass, but that have been solved by a new glass of wine after a small negotiation;). So, the soup Storceag with surgeon meat was the next dish, which was delicious as well, also by dipping the complementary bread in it. For main I had the Plachie de somn or Catfish stew. Again delicious and as expected nice fresh and warm polenta and not preprepared! My belly was already pretty full, but with the good quality I couldn't resist to try the Plăcintă cu mere și fructe de pădure (Apple and berries pie which is basically a strudel). Again, full of taste, big, crispy and richly filled. I had a great dinner! See the pics for what I got!

Fish was perfectly prepared, soft inside with crunchy coating. Good selection of local wines and spirits. Only thing to improve: please do not serve toast bread. It's not corresponding quality-wise with the food you make.

Best fish I had in my life(zander in white sauce). I appreciate nice amd very polite stuff who tried to explain me something about missing ingredients. Even though I didn't understand, they brought something exceeding my expectations.u Unbelievable cosy for average prices. I wish I could come back again, but I am not from Romania. Highly recommended!

Since we knew this restaurant from Bucharest, we expected the same service and atmosphere. But it was not the case. The appetizers came together with the main course. The main course was cold (the boiled potatoes and the grilled vegetables especially). The fishroes were very tasty. In the end, even the excuse was that the restaurant was full, we had to go inside to pay the bill, nobody showed up with it.

Very tasty food. Good service. But the stray cats jumping on the benches and asking for food and rubbing upon your clothes and purse while you are eating are irritating. Nobody is doing anything about it. It is not the fault of restaurant, but the fact that a stray cat which possibly has parasites and for sure is dirty can jump on the bench or the table with your food makes the whole impression spoiled.

Food is ok, but not great. Prices are a little bit high, but the location maybe justifies the prices. Service is sloppy - they forgot mid order to take the drinks order for half of the table.
