Horrendous. I fractured my wrist whilst on holiday and was told I HAD to have surgery to attach both an internal plate and external fixator. When I arrived back in the U.K. the NHS immediately removed the external fixator - for which there has been no need but will now likely cause arthritis. They also replaced the internal plate which had been fixed using the wrong size screws, trapping my carpal nerve. Over two months later I still have no feeling in my thumb and index finger and the necessity to be in plaster for 3 additional weeks post op has caused a frozen shoulder. The orthopaedic surgeon is an absolute cowboy who played my insurance company for every last penny. I am left devastated and out of pocket due to time off work sick and private physiotherapy.
