Damgrete is located close to the government House of Abia State in the best part of Umuahia city, i spent two weeks in their facility so i can say quite a bit about the hotel. There's lots of room for improvement in restaurant service and food. A quality chef would give them a perfect 9 out of 10

Location of the Hotel is perfect. The rooms are clean, with air conditional and water heater working perfectly well. Very polite receptionist and security guard. My off is the kitchen, or took the kitchen more than an hour to prepare simple mill as jollof rice. Omo chop before you come here ooo

Hotel staff are rude especially the front desk. Complimentary breakfast was a chore with lots of complaint. The shower head was not working throughout my stay. The hotel amenities are not modern. To be honest I didn’t even bother to take pictures of the room.

Quality speaks even after many years at Hotel Royal Damgrete Twenty years later and with new solid competitors, Hotel Royal Damgrete can still claim its self-assigned moniker as the best hotel in Umuahia. Quality speaks and lasts—Damgrete benefits from the excellent finishing of its exterior and interior many years later. I was here first in 2000. It is still spick and span. The marble finishing has helped it age well without the disfigurement and loss of colour that often happens with similar facilities. Each hotel defers to its environment. Hotel Royal Damgrete offers mainly local cuisine, from breakfast to dinner. It is just as well. It is one of a few hotels in Abia State and the South-East to offer local delicacies such as ukazi with achara. They are niggardly with the achara, but they had it to serve. On this visit, Ikeddy Isiguzo and I hosted the Umuahia chapel of the Correspondents Association to break bread and bond. It was an exciting evening. The next day, April 8, I shared drinks with my schoolmates at the Federal School of Arts & Sciences, Aba. Our school no longer exists because Nigeria phased out A-Levels, but it exists in our hearts and minds with shared experiences. The service at Hotel Royal Damgrete is courteous. The staff are helpful. They are available and willing and do not disappear as in some other hotels. The rooms are spacious and outfitted with the right mix of facilities. They offer now standard air-conditioning, desk, Wi-fi, and television with a choice of many channels. The bathroom is neat; it reflects its age with a bathtub and handheld shower. They would do better with more recent wash facilities and showers. And more than one towel, please! Hotel Royal Damgrete offers reasonable grounds. There is a swimming pool, a lawn tennis court, and a gym. People sit out as we did poolside with a bar. Then there is a well-equipped gym. I found some of the art furniture on the grounds alluring. Hotel Royal Damgete on Factory Road, Umuahia, deserves many repeat visits and stays.

The front of the building is misleading, the rooms are so old. My basin tap didn't work for over 2 days with excuses daily. Breakfast is a precarious affair as it's limited and a lot is an extra such as having to chose between water or tea. WiFi didn't work all the time and is not protected. The pool was nice though and the staff were generally polite

First of all, I must start by saying that i found Damgrete to be homely. De staff are efficient, calm & warm. De hotel seats on a massive portion of land within a walking distance to de city center. However, de neighborhood is quiet. De compound is not only big but all the roads are well paved & tree lined. So guests could walk around de grounds conveniently or use the gym, which has many gadgets for exercises or workouts. Furthermore, there is an inviting swimming pool with crystal clear water and a pool bar. The structures are generally well arranged without cluster. The food is tasty, fresh & timely with extensive cuisine prepared àla cartè. The rooms are big, clean & well laid out. Sheets & towels were changed with relatively new sheets every day while i was there. Though my friends in Umuahia complained why i stayed in Damgrete, which is about 22 years old when there're newer hotels in town, i found Damgrete functional & welcoming. I wasn't given a reason to complain & won't mind another stay next time I am in 'God's Own State'. Good organisation & and setup, I must say

It is a nice place to be. Located at the heart of the GRA, closer to the government house in Umuahia. Its poolside bar is something to explore with friends anytime anyday. It holds lots of fun. The pool is the best you can find around

A non-smoking zone without a non-smoking 🚭 sign. My colleagues were fined while leaving. Outside that, it's a cool place as long as you can afford the rate.

This hotel is pretty good judging by the different hotels i stayed at in owerri, lagos, and port harcourt. One of the best for the price. No mosquitoes, no roaches. The fridge works, a/c chills cold, hot water to bathe, tv has 9 channels, bed is ok. The location is safe and close to abia mall. But no swimming pool.

Located a few metres away from the historic National War Museum. Their services are average, but the staff are dedicated and courteous. It has a moderate car parking space. The place is secure and accessible.
