Arewa house museum, Kaduna. •A historical museum that holds several collections of cultural artifacts, photographs, and books. It also contains 19 satellite galleries which exhibits the individual Northern States, their civilization and cultures and also the life and times of late Sir Ahmadu Bello, Sardauna of Sokoto (whose portrait adorns the 200 Naira banknote). •Entrance fee is #100 per adult, and a guide is assigned to take one around and explain in details the history of late Sir Ahmadu Bello, the various artifacts and books on display and so much more! •It’s a clean, serene and safe environment with good parking space!

So I've always known Arewa to be a library and museum of sorts. (Arewa House is a research center of sorts) They have the halls for events and all that but this past week I found something else I didn't know about Arewa House. They have accommodations called the Post Graduate Hostels! From outside it looks very unassuming but when we got in, the rooms are not bad at all. Clean and well kept. We had a thing with the sockets on the walls, but eventually that got fixed. Security looked good. Only ish is there isn't any food there. If you plan to stay there, just be sure to eat before coming in! 🤓

It's a nice place filled with Northern monuments, complete with libraries, artifacts and plants. My personal favorite spot (captured in the photos) is what used to be the house of Sir. Ahmadu Bello's residential home. I was able to see personal items of his (wasn't allowed to snap), pictures of events that happened there, members of his family and home protocols. There are important trees there, one of which was planted by Sir. Ahmadu himself, another that is said to be the first Kola tree ever planted in the region. You should totally check it out.

🥰🥰🥰🥰🇳🇫🇳🇫🇳🇫 Arewa House is the center for historical documentation and research of the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Nigeria. Located at No. 1 Rabah Road, in the Residence of the late Premier of Northern Nigeria, Sir Ahmadu Bello Sokoto, Sardauna of Sokoto. The center is concerned, not only with research and documentation of the history and culture of the people, but also with contemporary studies on Policy, Peace and Leadership. The aim of the House therefore is to serve as a center for documentation and research in history and contemporary challenges. Though under the authority of Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, Arewa House has an independent Board of Trustees and Governing Council. It is headed by an executive Director, who runs the day-to-day activities of the House. As a center for historical documentation and research, Arewa House is concerned with procuring, preserving, analyzing and discussing issues of national and International interest and in particular with issues of specific interest to the development of northern Nigeria. The history of Arewa House as a Center for Research and Historical Documentation goes back to the year 1970 when the “History of Northern Nigerian Committee” was given the responsibility of writing a book on the history of northern Nigeria. This was after the dissolution of the three regional governments in the country and the creation of twelve states, which also led to the establishment of the “Joint Interim Common Services Agency” (ICSA) to oversee the joint assets and liabilities of the six newly created northern states. It was in this respect that the residence of the late premier of the Northern region, Sir Ahmadu Bello Sardauna, was formally approved to serve as an office for this project with the name “Arewa House”.

It's a historical centre rich in information about the history of Arewa that is Northern Nigerian region and it's leadership icons of the past and indeed Nigeria at a large. Arewa House is one of the first structures erected by colonial Masters before independence. The then Premier of Northern Nigeria Sir Ahmadu Bello Sardauna lived in with his family as the official residence of the Premier. It was after his assassination in 1966 that the house was converted to a historical centre for documentation and archiving.

Arewa House is beside Sultan Mosque at Angwar Sarki. It also borders popular Rabbah Road in Kaduna metropolis. Arewa House is now a custodian of historic documents of Ahmadu Bello University. A library for Post Graduate Students. Arewa House also contains a Guest House of the first Nigerian Prime Minister, Ahmadu Bello when he was in Government. Arewa House is really an historic house.

There is a guide and someone to explain everything in detail, full history of sir Ahmadu bello sardauna from his background, his education and political history. A Museum of Northern Nigerian History, Archive, library and Alhaji (Sir) Ahmodu Bello, First Premier of Northern Nigeria's Residence all in one place. Managed by the History Department of Ahmodu Bello University, Zaria. Eco friendly environment with adequate parking space. The museum contains artifact from the 19 States of Northern Nigeria this a aside the main gallery dedicated to the life and times of Sir Ahmodu Bello. At the Official residence of the premier can be found personal properties of the premier ranging from cloths, books, praying beads, sword (of title) etc. They also have the best customer service around, their staff are so professional and friendly, they will make you want to come back. The next time you visit Kaduna, do locate this historical edifice and pay them a visit, I'm sure you will be glad you did.
