Went here for whisky tasting from around the British Isles. Hosted by Alison, who was really knowledgeable and passionate about her whisky. My son and I had a great time learning so much more about the aromas and taste- this will make getting tipsy/drunk so much more pleasurable ๐Ÿคช๐Ÿ˜Š Definitely recommend this lovely friendly micro pub for not just the whisky but also the choice of real cask ales.

Alison, Phil, Andrew, Abi and Danny aren't just the face behind the bar, no they're the old friends that welcome you with open arms every time you open their door. I'd go as far to say as they're the most hospitable host in all of Havering! They know everything you want/need to know about the drinks on offer and they're yet to make a recommendation I've not enjoyed. The Hop Inn is a firm staple of living in Hornchurch and long may it continue.

I gave The Hop Inn a 0-star rating for food as they don't serve food apart from crisps. The overall atmosphere and service are excellent and the knowledge of their beers, wines and ciders is really good. The proprietors greet everyone as they walk through the door and have a quick chat which makes you feel welcome and valued. I would recommend this little pub/microbrewery to anyone who likes a decent beer or cider.

Went yet again to The Hop Inn with my best friend Ed a couple of weeks ago. We tried everything on the board beer wise and had some of the infamous Slabs crisps. We also tried the special, unique Irish cream liqueur that was on offer. Once again the staff were warm, welcoming, friendly and experts at their game. Good value too. Thank you. We will be back!

We've lived in Hornchurch for about 2 years now and kept meaning to visit The Hop In. The staff were friendly, very welcoming, and knowledgeable about their products. We tried some beer, gin, and cider, which was amazing! The price of the drinks seem to good value and similar to the price you would pay in Hornchurch. I would highly recommend it to family and friends! I am sure we will return again soon to try some different drinks.

10/10 would come here again. First off, the service was amazing. Was greeted by one of the owners and gave us a nice seat in the corner of the busy pub. He took the time ask us questions about our preferences and because we are not big beer/cider drinkers he took us through the menu. We got a strawberry beer and a nice fruity cider which was amazing. Will deffo be becoming back!

As you maybe aware Iโ€™m a big foodie who loves dining out in the finest of restaurants. But when it comes to choosing wine we either go for the countries that we know or we leave it to the recommendations of the sommeliers. So with this in mind we wanted to broaden our horizons letโ€™s say by learning more about wine in general ie taste , smell , tannins , acidity etc. with the additional knowledge of knowing what wine wine is good value for money and which style of wine goes with which style of food. So we gave it some thought and approached our good friend and drinks expert Alison Taffs at the Hop Inn Hornchurch our local micro pub to see what she thought and because it was only going to be the two of us if it would be worth her while. But after a little chat we discussed a budget so it would make her time and effort worthwhile. We gave her a couple of weeks to put together a format and gather some wines to taste and talk about. This led us to sunday when our tasting would take place. We arrived at the Hop Inn and our table was laid out in the corner. You could see straight away that Alison had put a lot of effort into this to which we were very grateful. She had laid out tasting note sheets , an iPad screen displaying various information and a list of the six wines we would be tasting. She decided that we should keep the discussion to european wines and in particular Portugal , France , Austria & Germany. Her knowledge was incredible as she guided us through the different stages of tasting wine. This begins with appearance which will include the colour. This is followed by smell , condition , intensity and the character. Then itโ€™s time to taste to find out if the wine is sweet or dry as well as how much acidity , length , body and tannins. To finish you would decide what type of food you would match the wine with. We followed this by talking about pricing and what wines from specific regions when you look at a wine list are good value for money. This information really was invaluable and will certainly help us in the future. Weโ€™d personally like to thank Alison for a fabulous wine tasting afternoon. To listen to her knowledge and passion really was a pleasure and we definitely got more out of this than we first thought. I would highly recommend if your interested in wine to arrange a session yourselves whether your a couple like us or a larger group you will certainly benefit from her vast experience in the industry. Weโ€™re certainly looking forward to booking another session with her soon

Owner was super friendly & very welcoming. All staff very knowledgeable. Cask offering was phenomenal. Good wine selection. It's a micro-pub. But not a pub pub. It was super busy on a Thursday night. The future?
