Let me tell you, we LOVED this place. My kids and I went here on a Sunday afternoon. I we parked on the side of the road but they had plenty of parking. They even had little go carts to take you from your car to the barn. All the volunteers and workers were so sweet and very knowledgeable. It was so cool that all the animals had their own names and stories. I’m so glad that they were rescued and have such a pleasant home now. We were able to pet EVERYTHING!! That was so awesome to my 2 year old especially. It was such a nice and relaxed atmosphere too. This place is really legit. Such a great place to go with the fam or with some friends. They’re were people of all ages there enjoying themselves. That was really cool to see. Definitely going again. Love this place.

The animals are so sweet and friendly! You can tell they are very comfortable here. I also appreciate that animals are assigned volunteers to keep an eye on them and give visitors more info. They do a great job of introducing every animal to you as an individual with their own past experiences and unique personality. I really enjoyed hugging the cows. They were much softer than I expected and very warm and gentle! It was a hot day, but I bet snuggling with a cow on a chilly day is a wonderful experience. This is a great place to take kids, and I think the annual pass is a great idea if you live nearby as it lets you skip lines as well. I really enjoyed my trip here, the staff is friendly and the snacks and food were a lot better than I expected. Would recommend!

Great place to take the kids to see animals of all shapes and sizes! Beautiful "origin" story also.

Why go to Disneyland and waste $200+ when you can spend a third of that and help animals in need? What a fun and unique thing to do. The animals were looking so well taken care of. Shout out all to all the volunteers who made the animals live in peace. But I think that more families should come visit and help support this wonderful cause.

Beautiful opportunity if you are looking for a barn experience for your kids. Parking, guidance all done by volunteers as far as I saw. Vegan hot dogs and select drinks available as well as a free water fountain if you have bottles.

*I deleted my previous negative review of The Gentle Barn (California) after they contacted me to make things right with a miscommunication on their part over a previous re-scheduled visit. This is my updated review of this location. We visited The Gentle Barn on April 16th with no trouble finding parking within the grounds itself. It happened to be a beautiful day and the heat was tolerable until noon approached, then it got hotter. I'd recommend a hat and bring bottled water. Snacks, vegan hot dogs, and some drinks are available on-site and there are picnic tables available. Their website specifies what foods not to bring onto the grounds. Overall the experience was enjoyable. The staff were friendly and did their best to answer questions we may have had about the animals' background. I enjoyed brushing the cows, along with meeting Sky, one of the service dogs who was actually a buddy / partner to one of the young cows (John Lewis Thunderheart). I had a great time in the next area meeting and coming in contact with a mixed group of animals. It was therapeutic, sensing the calm energy of the wonderful animals I came in contact with. From the likes of; Queen Joni (llama), Earl (emu), Tulip (chicken), Molli, Humble, and Jellie (pigs), Brave, Compassion, Lennon, Paloma, Romeo, and especially Sun (turkeys). We concluded our tour with the horses, where I received a kiss from Magic which was a funny experience! As we made our way to the exit, we dropped by the gift shop and made a couple purchases to end our great day. I would recommend paying this location a visit. Enjoy the experience, and appreciate what the staff and volunteers are providing for these animals, a forever home.

Amazing animals and the workers were great with these wonderful creatures. Place was super neat; being able to see/ touch, brush some of the animals was such a good feeling!! We also bought a couple of cute souvenirs featuring the animals, so go check it all out! Only thing, no "real bathrooms", so be prepared..

Phenomenal spot. Took my fiancΓ© for her Bday. Can't speak more highly of the Gentle Barn. They actually care of our animal friends. They actually look happy and roam around happily. Staff is great, founder is amazing. If I won the lottery, this would be one of the first spots I would donate to. I love how they will do anything to rescue these wonderful animals. It's great for kids or adults or dates. If you have ever wanted to hug animals, this is your spot

Really enjoyed visiting all the animals you'd find in a barn at this local Santa Clarita sanctuary. Loved letting, hugging, feeding and brushing all the residents and hearing how they came to be saved. Please support with a visit but be sure to schedule a reservation well ahead of your visit.

The Gentle Barn is the best name to describe what this barn and all its occupants is all about: Gentle stroke, Gentle words, Gentle thoughts, Gentle conversations, Gentle love ❀ Ellie Laks has infused in the Gentle Barn all her healing love and harmony πŸ’• All the animals, from the smallest to the biggest are Gentle and welcoming toward everyone, little children to elderly adults. Dogs are allowed, on a leash. There is a way to eat lunch or drink something on location for a Gentle price as well. They are -of course- big vegan advocates as they are very much aware of the love, emotional bond, and stories they share with these animals, and rescue them from slaughter houses. Support them Visit them Organize your next event over there It's so much worth it!!! Love and appreciation to all of you at the Gentle Barn.

Waiting, Waiting, and more Waiting. We had two adults and two kids in our party. We checkin and are told to hang out in the waiting area until we get our "safety briefing." The area is filled with kids and their parents. There's nothing for the kids to do in this area, and they have is waiting for 30 minutes. I finally ask one of the staff members what's going on, and when we are going to be able to go in. I was told the owner is coming down soon, and only she can give the safety briefing. She finally arrives, and we are taken for a 5 minute walk to the area for the briefing. This "Safety Brief" is a 13 minute infomercial from the owner about how we can sponsor animals, and the benefits of veganism, followed by 2 minutes of safety information. So many of the kids were stir-crazy, as they'd been waiting for 45 minutes now and are listening the owner trying to convert people to veganism. This 45 minute process could have been done in 2 minutes by any other staff member at the checkin area. We are finally released to see the animals, where we have to waiting ANOTHER line to get into the animal enclosure. And inside the enclosures...More lines. By the time we even touched a single animal it was almost 90 minutes in.

THE BEST!! You can tell the animals are happy and well-taken care of, and each animal has a volunteer or staff member assisted to it (yes, EVERY one) that has a relationship with the animal so that they can both educate visitors and monitor the animal to make sure they can meet his or her specific needs. Go hug a cow, it’ll change your life!

This is such an amazing place. The docents and staff were wonderful, and the animals are well cared for and obviously loved. It was the most humbling thing to hug a cow they are such gentle giants. All the other animals were lovely to interact with as well.

I am so disappointed about our visit and misleading advertising that i am writing this review in the middle of the night. Like many people I am struggling to get make ends meet, but splurged on what i thought would be a healing experience. This was really not what we expected. We were expecting a farm.with free roaming animals that you could actually hug. My child has major anxiety issues and I thought this would be a healing experience for her and the whole family. But it was truly a super crowded petting zoo. The place was much smaller than I pictured. All of the animals are in enclosures. You literally have to ask to pet them. The horses are carrot driven so you have to pay 6 dollars.for about half a carrot chopped into chunks to feed them and the horses do not want to be touched just feed One literally pushed us away with his head because we tried to pet it without feeding him at the same time. We never even got to see the cows Because the line of about 50 people moved so slowly that the place would have closed before we got to see them. While walking out we got glimpse of the situation and it was just like the rest of the place no hugging just veiwing petting. I left feeling disappointed. There had to have been at least 300 hundred people there and only 3 small areas to visit and view the animals. No hugging . I thought maybe they had just recently became super popular so they just needed time to adjust to the crowds but after reading the reviews I see that this has been an ongoing problem for over 6 years. I think they need to accept less people at a time maybe 20 per an hour so that you can truly have the experience of bonding with an animal. Maybe spend less.money opening new facilities and buy more land for the animals they have now. Maybe a nice pasture for them to roam in. I think all the people made the animals more anxious then happy. Which does not seem inline with their values. Sad and disappointing and over stimulating for the visitors and the animals. Picture a petting zoo with lines like Disneyland.

Today was magical and brought tears to my eyes. I came out from Salt Lake to celebrate being done with chemo treatment for Breast Cancer. They gave my boyfriend and I VIP access. I met the owner and cried when she hugged me. This place is a gift on this earth. Thank you to the Staff, Ellie, and the animals. You softened my heart.

Adorable place to visit for both adults and children. The caretakers are great, all animals are called by their name and they're happy and friendly. See Rosy in the picture

Husband and I paid for a private tour and had a wonderful time. Kim our guide, was so nice and told us the history of each animal at the sanctuary. I couldn't say enough good things about our experience if I tried.

The best experience. Learning all the animals stories and how they survive and thrive with all the love and care the get daily. Also the cleanest barnyard I have ever seen.

This is a sanctuary and rehab center. All of the animals have gone through something. Expect not to have a lot of one on one encounters because the animals will be shy and hesitant. Expect it to be hot, dusty and dirty. We did a private tour. They took us to three different sections: 1) goats, sheep, llamas, pigs 2) cows 3) horses. The staff was friendly but not professional or knowledgeable about the animals, they were story tellers mostly. I don't think I'll be back. Would I recommend it? If you like stories with happy endings and animals then yes. Just be careful and watch your hands and feet, we had injuries on our trip.
