Went to this restaurant last night before a show. It's a very convenient 2 minute walk from Queen Elizabeth Theatre. My friend and I had a hard time deciding what to get because everything on the menu sounded so good. We ordered a couple of aburi sushi. One with salmon, and another one with black rice and eel which was torched tableside. We also ordered the hot stone bowl with beef and mushrooms, and sukiyaki. I absolutely love their scallop motoyaki. The drinks are refreshing and tasty too. The service was attentive and friendly. Price is a bit on the expensive side. All the food tasted good and was served piping hot and fresh. I would still go back to try the other items on their menu.

Very skipable. Staff and service was great. The food was very forgettable. Karage looked crispy but wasn’t crispy. Pretty pedestrian. Hamachi Kama wasn’t fresh for such a cheap cut. It was mushy and very fishy. The sushi platter wasn’t good. Everything was trying to be too different. Heavily sauced sushi and couldn’t taste the fish. I mean who puts black olives in sushi?! It over powered any other flavors in the sushi. Rice was poorly seasoned. California roll was very bland in tasted and presentation. They just added extra imitation crab on top to try to make it seem special. Tempura was decent but the sauce was too sweet in my opinion. Overall very forgettable. Our bill was about $180 with a large sake. In my opinion It was kind of pricy for what we got. The leather in the seats were tore up and the ambiance was that of a lunch venue. We were traveling in town saw the 4 star reviews so we came but it was a very regrettable meal. There’s tons of fantastic food in Vancouver. THIS AINT IT

Hands down one the best sushi places in Vancouver. Friendly staff, nice vibes and quality food. Prices are a little more expensive compared to other sushi places but keep in mind this is Izakaya, and the food has high quality. I always brings my friends who are visiting from out of town, and they are all impressed.

Came here during lunch and tried their teishoku lunch box combos. Love these lunch combos. Only issue was my chicken karagge was served to me cold that was a disappointment. But everything else was decent enough. Sashimi was ok. Worth a try izakaya

Rolls and sushi were okay but their sizzling rice and beef bowls were absolutely delicious!!!! Big Sake selection if that's your thing

Lovely izakaya right in downtown! Tried and loved the aburi platter and beef sukiyaki, particularly loved the black rice roll! Everything tasted fresh and seasoned just right! Would come again! Reservation suggested.

My first time experience here is so amazing! Friendly staffs and they really take care of us💖 I love black mentaiko. I’ve never try black rice before but it’s my favorite now. And I would recommend you to try Aburi Hakozushi platter that a good starter and you will feel more enjoy eating.

Overall ambiance was pretty decent, got the beef sukiyaki with poached egg and rice, the soup tasted good, but beef tasted pretty unseasoned. Overall the dish was decent, not amazing but would be interested in perhaps coming back and trying something else.

Just stopped here for lunch. The best way to explain it is "underwhelming". Nothing tasted bad, everything tasted good. Just not special. Also found it strange that they pre portion the amount of soy sauce you can have... Was disappointed in their sushi selection. Maybe 5 classic rolls? So personally, unless you're strapped for time and working out of CBC Studios, I would definitely skip it.

Where to start. First time here. Love the vibe.. such friendly and attentive servers. Everything we ordered ranged from pretty damn good to complete and utter deliciousness. Soy sauce is world class. The sushi rice is perfection. And can we talk about the music? There was chair dancing.. keep doing how you do. Will definitely recommend and be back !

Went here with friends, the server and service are amazing and welcoming! I like the food here. Tried couple dishes and they are all delicious! The mystery tapa set is interesting and the sashimi are fresh. I also enjoy the udon, but compared to other dishes, udon is above average. The grilled beef and a unagi roll are the best dishes! Looks so fancy and taste very delicious. They are must ordered on my list!

We found this place online. We were downtown and after a massage we were looking for some good food. When we arrived it was just at capacity and we snuck in with 2 seats at the bar. The service was good overall, with a couple small glitches. My girlfriend asked for the resiling on the wine list and they were out. I asked for the Asahi super dry also out. So we each had to settle for something else, which was fine but obviously not our preference. The food itself was good. We had 2 of their specialy rolls, a regular roll, squid appetizer, tuna tataki, and the beef sukiyaki. Portions were fair size and we left full. Presentations is excellent and the service fast. Our favorite was the jalapeño tuna roll, squid, and tuna tataki. $$-$$$

Izakaya type of restaurant, so you come here to drink rather than a full meal. That being said, the items we ordered tasted good. Sukiyaki, Raw marinated crabs (pre-ordered through Instagram), salmon nigiri and Uni. Rating 4 on food because for the price, I feel like I could have gotten a full meal elsewhere.

My sister and I came to this restaurant a few weeks ago and this is now my favorite sushi place. The rice was perfect, the flavors were delicious and the service was fast. It was great to quickly get in and out before a show. The chef came and checked up on us to see how we liked his food while we were eating and as a person who has worked in the industry, I appreciated his gesture. I will definitely be coming here again and bringing more people to try the food.

Nigiri tastes like kimbap. Their food is a fusion of Korean and Japanese. Not really an authentic Japanese food. Overall, the food is good, but not my things.

Friendly servers but this place is not for my palate. Everything we ordered was on the sweeter side even the sauce soy. We ordered Aburi Hakozushi platter, Black Mentaiko, Unagi Roll, and Sukiyaki with clear noodles.

A really fun vibrant vibe, small place with that classic Izakaya variety. The sashimi was fresh, flavourful and delicate. I love squid, octopus and cuttlefish and I have it often - so the butter based Ikayaki was a treat. Opulently rich and creamy, it was memorable. Service was very friendly and I appreciated the insight shared about the food. Not a cheap place but won’t break the bank if you’re looking for a nice meal.

There were a bunch of great tapas to try. I recommend the steak bites, clay pot rice, and sashimi. I wasn't a fan of the ebi fritters because of how thick the batter was. Also, the sauce with the fritters was super sweet, which was off-putting. The creamy udon is something you can skip. It just tastes like fettucine Alfredo, but with udon. Overall, it's a place that's worth a try.

Passable, sushi are probably good but very expensive, the place isn't even much of an upgrade compared to "plastic chairs" restaurants. The service was good, though I waited in the entry for a while before being brought to my reserved seat and taking our orders was also long. Chicken karaage was just okay, the rice had no taste and they don't give you much soy sauce. I tried the green tea plum cocktail because it was the cheapest option but it was awful and I couldn't finish it. They had no more black rice Jameson for my friend nor IPA so we just went for drinks elsewhere.

It’s a fairly decent sushi place in downtown. I went here a lot with coworkers for lunch because they were relatively filling with delicious food at a reasonable price. I really like their bento boxes because it offers variety of different dishes in small bite size pieces. Its usually not too busy during lunch time so I recommend that you check this place out if you are ever in the area!

Food was ok but fish on the rainbow roll was small and not a single piece. It seems like leftover pieces put on top of roll. Sushi rice was nice. Each grain was individual. They gave so little soy sauce (the pic with the soy sauce with the uni was the only soy sauce they gave me) and since there is not bottle at table, had to ask server but I rarely saw my server to ask that some pieces I had to eat with soy sauce since in a rush to leave to watch a show. Nothing spectacular.

Food is absolutely delicious. Gyu katsu is so good. Lollipop looks pretty and is refreshing. Will come back for other dishes.

It wasn’t very busy on a Sunday night. Food was good, but in a way felt more like a restaurant than an izakaya, the atmosphere wasn’t as vibrant as some others, maybe because it was more spacious and not as packed.

I love the sukiyaki here it’s really good and pretty big portion. The staff are nice and friendly. Place is very clean. And I like that they seat us right away even though we didn’t have reservations.
