Pretty disappointing. Was a regularly in their pop up. The new format is charged by weight + a fixed fee for the shaved ice. Scoopy is served in a deep PAPER bowl, this is not practical at all. Your topping is at the bottom and make a mess digging it out. The more topping you pick = less shaved ice?? Seriously makes zero sense. Will not return.

We’ve always been a fan of this bingsu place and got a little excited for their new bigger place. They also have a new concept which is choosing your own toppings for your bingsu which was interesting. However, as per our experience, I think it has not been executed well. The flow of the customers is just chaotic. Before on their old place, their was an organised queuing of people outside and before having a dedicated seat where you can actually enjoy your bingsu. However, this time, we, including some customers, were left standing with our bingsu in the middle of the restaurant while waiting for other customers who have finished their food and just chatting. It was such a bad experience. Staff needs to be more assertive for other customers who are next in line to enjoy their bingsu. The bingsu quality was not as good as before too. It was less flavourful. More so, I think as they cater to more customers, the quality of the shaved ice was negatively affected. :( I hope they get to manage it better and bring back the quality and service as before.

New Place Same Amazing Taste They recently moved and changed the concept of the place. Now it is DIY bingsu so you can choose your own flavour and topping I highly recommended the Taro and Milk Tea flavour! The new Honey Dew flavour is amazing too The q is long but the line move pretty fast! The service is good and the staffs are friendly

Nice venue! Friendly and helpful staff. We got the Thai Milk one. Not too sweet. Small to share between two people. I think the price is a bit high for what it is, though you are paying for the ambience too. The almond flakes is a nice crunchy touch otherwise nothing to write home about.

It was better before they relocated. The self serve just does not work since you select the “toppings” first which end up being in the bottom of the bowl. The good thing is you do get a lot of toppings to select from. The toppings are $38/kg. I spent $5 on toppings. All the base flavours for the shaved ice is $11.50. The shaved ice flavour is good (got honeydew) but the texture is bad. It was mushy and not light and flaky. It also melted pretty quickly. Eating it was like eating sweet icy mush. You do get the option of free whipped cream and condensed milk. I also don’t like how they served it in single use containers and utensils. The paper bowl is packed quite full and it’s easy to make a mess. Before it was proper bowls and spoons? Now more things are going to end up landfill. I wouldn’t recommend going here as there are better bingsu places in the CBD.

This is the Bingsu Mecca. Creamy shaved ice imbued with the most delicious favours including our favourites Royal Taro and Mai Tai Times. So awesome that we now get to choose our favourite toppings and indulge in as much topping as we want too. TEXTURE HEAVEN! Love the fit out Scoopy, the perfect confluence of wow, yum and fun!

After moving to a new and larger location, Scoopy no longer offers preset menus. It's a total DIY concept, allowing customers to create their own bingsu/shaved ice flavours and toppings. It would be great if they came with topping recommendations to help customers with a "lack of creativity" (myself included 😅) to make it easier and quicker, and prevent long queues. There’s no waiting list system like the previous one. However, their space is quite limited. So be prepared to standby and wait for the next available table even after you get your bingsu.

Very creamy shaved ice. The flavour and texture are worth trying. However the shop itself was quite messy. Self serve area for the toppings were quite dirty with pieces of food everywhere on the counter. The fresh fruit toppings were looking quite sad. There were also not a lot of staff to clean the table given the presentation of the dessert makes it’s quite messy while consuming the food.

Finally it’s time to say goodbye to Melbourne’s winter. My friend and I came here for some DIY bingsu. In terms of taste, it’s absolutely brilliant! I highly recommend it due to the generous portion size and the wide variety of toppings available for selection. We opted for the strawberry and chocolate flavours this time, but we’re definitely planning to return to explore other flavours.

Scoopy has always been my favorite, especially with their taro and thai milk tea flavours. With their recent renovation, they’ve upgraded to a weighing system (personalise toppings). The price was okay, however, would love it better to change how they serve with a cup. It is so messy and sticky to hold on to the cup, especially for takeaway.

Very good dessert place. A bit pricey but worth every cent. The taro was our favourite. The milk tea is less sweet. Another favourite was the lychee one which was also vegan. Can’t wait for the new location on Latrobe street to be opened.

A hidden gem down a lonely lane way! Great dessert place after a heavy city dinner. Delicious Korean bingsu, absolutely refreshing and very delicious! Good variety and very reasonably priced. Portions are big, great for sharing. Lovely busy vibe.

Bingsu / korean style shaved ice dessert with flavor. Friend recommended this place and shared Taro flavor, we both like taro so great choice. I like how the shaved ice is creamy , not just cold water with syrup like some other Asian dessert. Worth a try. Price for slightly pricey for a bowl of dessert (medium size) $14 but for sharing is ok

scoopy has always been one of my fave bingsu spots since their very first store opening on a’beckett st and i’m so happy to see how much they’ve grown since !!! their new build-your-own concept is innovative + being able to choose ur own toppings adds a bit of fun to the ordering experience 😋🤩 the total cost will be the base price for bingsu ($11.50) + the cost of toppings (by weight) and they also have a huge range of bingsu flavours to choose from - my all time faves are the royal taro, lychee bloom, hoji-yama, honey dewd & sunny mango !! defs can’t go wrong with any of these flavours + they have seasonal flavours too - i tried the pandan & coconut which was fragrant and not overly sweet YUMMM !!! 🤤🤤🤤 my only complaint is the lack of seating at their new venue but it does get really busy with a lot of foot traffic in store 🥺🥺 check out @asdfghjklcn_eats on ig for more food reviews :)

Despite some of the recent reviews, our trip to Scoopy’s new location was quite enjoyable! We were grateful for being able to pick the toppings according to taste, whether or not you wanted it on the side or in the middle, and how much you wanted to pair with the bingsu so I guess it depends on the person. The bingsu itself was great, nice & flaky, along with a larger portion (I got the $9 size and felt it was very adequate) & free optional whipped cream & condensed milk. Staff were also nice and accommodating so I’ll be coming backk😋🍧

Great ambience, and the Bingsu was very flavourful without being too sweet. Definitely go a bit earlier as it does get very busy. Would definitely come back to try more flavours. Takeaway options are also available if it's too busy and you do not want to wait.

Last week, my friend and I visited again our favourite bingsu place in Melbourne and as always, we enjoyed it. We picked the option for the toppings to be in a separate container this time but we're not fussed even if the toppings are on the same container and in the middle. What matter to us is the taste, it is sooo yummy and the ambience is great. Will be back again soon Scoopy 😀

Great place for dessert. We went on a weeknight, and there was no queue. There's a variety of flavours and toppings to choose from. We went with lychee blossom, which was delicious, but I'd be keen to return to try other flavours!

Photo on the left is the new location, photo on the right is the Glen Waverly location (which is how the old location used to be). The new scoopy location next to Melbourne Central buries the topping in the middle of your bingsu. Not only does this decrease the amount of bingsu you get but it also makes it much harder to eat your toppings whenever you like throughout the experience. The ‘friends’ size is also much smaller. Spent $19 at this location and $20 for the old location for a much better product. The Glen Waverley location is still good, would not recommend Melbourne Central though.

Wow! That is so good. We really enjoyed the Taro and My Thai flavours. Some things to note - it's quite busy so arrive a little earlier to book yourself in the queue. It's also quite loud inside, but that does make it a vibe.

Delicious icy dessert. Probably the best bingsu in Melbourne. I always come back here. Taro is my favourite and a permanent on the menu. But they have a lot of seasonal flavours as well. Now that there are a lot of other places it's not too busy anymore as well. Staff as always friendly and attentive. Highly recommend this place

Hidden in one of Melbourne's many laneways, you likely to walk right past it if it wasn't for the crowd outside. It was our first Bingsu and we had no idea what to expect. We had the Taro and Mango, and we were pleasantly surprised. It's like shaved ice cream made from bubble tea - sweet, creamy and fluffy. The condiments matched well with the selected flavour. However, we felt it's pretty pricey ($10 for small) for what it is.

This place is so good! The bingsoo all tasted very good and is reasonably priced (for bingsoo) the presentation is great as well. I would definitely come back, one of my fave dessert sports. I guess one bad thing is the wait (ages if u go during a normal dessert time), but the customer service is also very good and they gave us a call when our spot was ready. I recommend scoopy and is definitely a spot u shud visit if u havent before :)

Friendly, helpful staff. We ordered the taro and milk tea bingsu. I recommend the milk tea one if you’re looking for something low sugar, and taro for something sugary. The taro was the best one, it tasted great and it’s for a reasonable price. Definitely come during the week rather than weekends as on weekends it’s really crowded. Presentation was also great.

Amazing! I had previously tried Bingsu and didn't like it. I'm so glad I tried this place. It was so good we came back 3 days in a row. We will miss you! Every flavour we tried was delicious. Try 1 of everything. Small is enough for 1 person, but you won't regret a regular size. Hopefully, we'll see you again in 12 months.

Welcome back Scoopy! The warehousey space has been exchanged to a cafe still near Melbourne Central. Unlike before it's now froyo style-ish! . 1. Select your "toppings" to go inside 2. Select your bingsu flavour (it helps guide your toppings selection) and checkout. Hand the bowl over 3. Your order is processed . 🍨Coco Pandan 🍊Mandarin . 💵 Base $11-12 (we forget) + 3.80/100g for toppings . There 3 new flavours: Black sesame, mandarine, coco pandan. The pandan had a unique salty aftertaste to it. My mandarin was perfect! Yuzu x mandarin was strong and refreshing but with depth, this is the one to get. . 🍧 @scoopymilkbar 📍Opposite Homm-ish past David's (same side) 💵 $17-19pp (but these are perfect for sharing between 2-3)

Overall had a great experience here, the dessert tasted really good and the toppings were yummy. The service was really nice even though it was our first time and put in too much toppings they just put the shaved ice on another cup. Only improvement would be better indicator of how much toppings to put for first timers. Will definitely be coming back again though!

There is no contest. This is the best bingsu ever. The purity of the ingredients used comes through in the shaved flavoured ice and its cleverly paired with well chosen toppings. The Taro and Mango flavours are must haves. Highly recommended!

A casual place for "Instagram aspiration" Korean style ice cream sundaes. You may have walk past this place and double back, re-checking the location on Google map - the warehouse-like setting is a coffee place during the day and dessert place in the evening. You may have a history with sundaes like me - one or two scoop of ice cream, various fruit and nut toppings, and then topped it all with spurts of fresh cream from those cannister. That basically sums up the ice cream experience on offer here. Although it styled itself as Korean ice dessert, this is not the fluffy and airy form of Korean Bingsu. The texture here is firmer and creamier.

Desserts at @scoopymilkbar: the queue is long but moves relatively quickly. Finding a spot to sit on a weekend night is a bit tough though. Thankfully the turnover is reasonably fast 🙂🙂. The bingsu here is decent, with plenty of choices for toppings, which they put in the middle of your bingsu. Overall it was good, but there are plenty of choices for bingsu here in Melbourne 😜😜.

We visited the place before it relocated to the outside. Still, I don't really like this place as the portion was really small and not worth the price tbh. We ordered matcha and thai milk tea, taste ok tho. Scoopy Central 📍303 La Trobe St, Melbourne VIC 3000 ⏰ 4pm - 10pm 💰~$40/3pp ☑️ 🌕🌕🌗🌑

New location - mostly the same good old Scoopy’s but in a larger with more seating and more sterile, less charming location. It’s now self serve, where you fill your bowl with toppings first, then weigh up the bowl and a staff member puts ice on top of the toppings. No complaints on that front, having the toppings on the bottom of the ice doesn’t change the taste! Used to have long lines but I came on a Sunday afternoon and there was heaps of space!

Creamy, delicious and refreshing. Got takeaway as the line was too long to dine in. But still taste great. Went with mango flavour but will be back to try the other flavours

RESPONSE TO OWNER: Thanks for your thoughtless response. Suggest you refrain from commenting on matters that don’t concern you and focus on improving store’s signage. REVIEW: Was expecting an out of world experience since I love Bingsu and the reviews were raving! Really liked seeing the vegan options - lychee and two other specials pandan and mandarin. We ordered the lychee and pandan flavours. First thing I didn’t like about this place It doesn’t tell you how much you pay per 100g weight of the topping in addition to the flavour base. Suddenly during billing, it’s $11.25 for the flavour base and then close to $20pp on top with the toppings. That’s even more expensive than a meal! So as one can expect, we were hoping for a great experience if this is the price charged. The flavours were so bland and somewhat bitter and it just didn’t taste like good bingsu.

Really love the bingsu here, not too sweet❤matcha flavour the best, taro and hojicha are also very nice☺️. Super friendly staff and great atmosphere. A perfect dessert place after dinner👍👍

My husband and I got ourselves a MILKY BREW to share. The taste of Viet coffee was prominent enough that it made it better than the name itself. The bitterness from the coffee and the sweetness from everything else made it perfect! Will definitely come to try the others!

  • 5/5 Kelli N. 1 year ago on Google
So delicious! The shaved ice is very creamy and comes with a lot of toppings. The regular size is a good portion for 2-3 people. We got the Thai milk tea flavour which was delicious. We went early in the evening and didn't have to line up. The dessert also came out very quickly.
