This is a great hotel overall. The location and staff cannot be faulted. The downside of a great location is always that the rooms are small and that is definitely the case in the Grand Ferdinand. The room decor is more cool than luxe and will not appeal to some people. The large schnitzel factory restaurant downstairs is a tourist trap. The rooftop restaurant and bar are delightful and are the best feature of the hotel. We paid extra for a suite as the standard rooms were smaller than expected.

Good afternoon! My review is not about the hotel, but about the cafe. We walked and walked past, went in and saw an almost empty cafe inside. about 20-25 tables and 2-3 are occupied. The hostess asked for a reservation, we said that there was none and that we have time for dinner from 16 to 17 approximately, we have a concert, we will eat and leave. the hostess said that she had one table and seated us near the toilet behind a large column. We made an order and realized that every 2-3 minutes the toilet door slams back and forth and the place is the worst of all. we called the waiter and asked if there was an opportunity to change seats, we would leave in half an hour. he called the Hostess again, who replied that it was impossible and that she NEEDED ALL the tables. this is very, very strange. not to transplant guests for half an hour to comfortably eat and leave them defiantly near the toilet is the only case in my life and such an experience. We finished dinner in 25 minutes, and when we paid the bill, a man came up to us to clean the dishes and asked if everything was fine. I answered honestly about this situation, he was surprised and asked why we did not ask to change the table. I said that they asked TWICE. We saw how he asked this Hostess what was the matter and when we left, she whose job was to take care of the guests lowered her head and did not even say goodbye. Well, I definitely will never return to this cafe, I hope that the review will help pay attention to elementary things like service and customer comfort. Unfortunately, it left a residue with me.

Do not trust the website pictures. Lot of disappointments. Unimpressive lobby and front desk. Unfriendly and inattentive service. Hefty price paid for this wannabe trendy place. Few stylish touches. Mostly off taste. Tiny pool, full of people, unstaffed. Impossible to get a lounge chair! Be aware, check-in not before 3pm (high season). Breakfast is good, but pastries are not daily fresh.

The hotel has been completely renovated and the rooms redecorated. Its an old building so I guess difficult to modernize, but the designers did a great job adding lots of lighting and a young design sense. The rooms feel fresh and are very comfortable. The room sizes are on the smaller size, which I think I just due to the age of the building. There is no lobby, just a small reception area and an extremely popular restaurant that has the "World's Best Schnitzel." No BS. The 1st floor restaurant is very popular and requires an advance reservation to get a table. But no worries the hotel also has an 8th floor restaurant to cater to hotel guests and the World Famous schnitzel from the 1st floor is on the menu. It's not a luxury hotel, but very comfortable and well managed. Just across the street is the Ritz Carlton, so for 3-4X room rate, can get that big room. Location is the best in Vienna. Convenient to all the most popular sites and all the trams stops are just a short walk away. I was completely satisfied by this hotel and would stay again.

Hotel location is super. everything is easily reached by foot. the hotel has a famous restaurant to eat the viennese veal dish and it was so good. Room size is good for one person, a bit compact but good if you will be out all day exploring the city. However, the room is very very dusty, even after housekeeping (which i informed them) there is a lot of dust so if you have allergies like me, be careful. other than that this is a great location and the rooftop pool bar is a plus!

Here for business. 4week stay. Location I think is very good. Staff at reception are very hospitable. Be careful of the room you book as the room facilities can be basic if you have the standard room, the showers are behind a glass door which face the bed so no privacy if you are sharing, check reception and they will advise. Breakfast is my favourite, it is on top floor and faces the rising sun therefore you get a great picture looking out to the city, a terrace is there too. If you want the pool then use the other lift so you don’t walk through the restaurant of which the main elevator will. My reduction in stars is the breakfast room manager, he rides a cloud of self importance, attitude that doesn’t best befit this class of hotel. Sit away from the kitchen as they don’t have the ability to stack plates or cutlery quietly. Plus they have one Album that plays every morning and not at a level that is not noticeable. Food from kitchen is very very good.

We stayed there as we began our trip to Central Europe and enjoyed it so much we stayed there again as we were winding down our trip. Great location that was central to everything we wanted to visit. The Concierge was quite helpful with recommendations and in getting us tickets to concerts. Room was spacious and comfortable and the restaurant on the roof served delicious food. We had a very positive experience!

Amazing location as everyone here mentions. You could not ask for more on that front. Also in my case the staff has been very friendly. The rooms are somewhat a disappointment; Small for the price and also has some really strange features that others have mentioned, to keep your reading lamps on you need to keep the light on in all of the room, making it impossible for you to keep them going if other person in room wants to sleep. The workaround is to stand up on the bed and unscrew the lights from the chandelier in the room. Location of shower is also a bit strange with a glass door right next to the bed. First hotel for me with no body lotion or hair conditioning. Just one product for body and hair, nice that they are in large bottles and don't have single use bottles. We are still here on our second day and they have only given us one bottle of water the two days. Coffee machine would have been highly appreciated. The mini bar doesn't work in our room. Place has tons of potential, needs work.

Great hotel. Comfortable rooms (though cozy in size) with nice beds , great central location, great rooftop, great included breakfast. Thoroughly enjoyed my time here. If you’re looking for a hotel that is itself a destination, this isn’t it. But if you’re looking for a really nice home base from which to explore Vienna, look no further.

The first impression was perhaps not the best. You could put in more effort and talk to the guests. We loved our room. The shower is separated from the toilet. All's Well! The rooftop pool was very cold. Even though it was high summer. The breakfast was good and the young girls and boys who worked there behaved exemplary! The little things I mentioned reduce grades to 4/5. But we are still happy and could return!

You can see it’s a great location, but the team working there do their level best to deliver great service. The check in was first class. The roof top bar, is very relaxed and delightful. The ground floor restaurant to time to take us threw a Austrian Red Wine experience which was both educational, and fun. Vienna is a fab city, and this is a place to stay

Our second time staying here which is very rare for us. We’re delighted with the location, staff, the decor and overall vibe. We didn’t go to see the pool this time as it is quite small and can get crowded but given what we’re looking for in a hotel in Vienna this is perfect for us.

Disappointing. No dresser for clothes - stayed for 4 nights and had to drape clothes everywhere. Had to walk downstairs to get more hangers For a 5 star hotel, not enough attention to detail. Old candy found on the floor when we first arrived. Half empty vanity kit. No cups for coffee or tea. Same one bottle of soap for hands, hair, and body wash, no conditioner. Concierge was lovely, but check in and out staff not friendly. Didn't even ask if we had a nice stay. Poor service at breakfast. They were indeed very busy, but for price expect that we do not need to wait 15 minutes for a coffee. The attached restaurant on the bottom floor though was quite good - excellent tartare.

One of the worst restaurants in Vienna. 0 service. All the stuff are disgusting and never will come to you or bring your food(until you will ask them). I’ve been waiting for a schnitzel((33 euros btw) for more than hour. Oh yea, food was really bad(worse than schnitzel from kebab store)

The location is perfect . The staff are very friendly . The room is ok. Just not comfortable to have a shower in the room . And cleaning of our room was missing couple of times during our stay . As usually the staff came to clean our room around 3 o’clock while children was slipping in the room .

Comfortable hotel in great location. Room was a bit smaller than expected, but it looked recently remodeled and the finish work was all very nice. Very comfortable bed and bedding. Good shower. Staff was friendly and helpful.

I stayed in their dormitory room. It is the most comfortable dorm I have stayed in! My experience with the staff ranged from ok to good. I slept really well, was situated in a good location and the staff helped keep medication in their fridge for me. My main complaint is that I wish there was a bigger seating area in the lobby to drink a coffee, relax or work. Additionally, I wish rooftop access was available in the evening to sit outside and view the city at night. I assume it’s closed due to safety reasons because the pool is there too.

Nice location, very close to the old city. The rooms are particularly, the hotel has 3 very good restaurants, one is gastronomic and need previous reservation.

Perfect. Exceptionally beautiful hotel, very nice and extremely helpful staff. Enjoyed the stay very much. The hotel is located close to the pedestrian area, a very short walk to the sightseeing spots. Book a room and go there!

Charming hotel located in close proximity to the pedestrian area, public transport and attractions. In the area of customer service..we were extremely satisfied with all of the hotel staff here. Everyone here is super friendly & accomodating and readily available to make your stay outstanding. In the area of rooms, I found ours clean & very charming. The bed was a little bit on the firm side and in order to turn on the bathroom light, you have to turn on the whole room. Having said this, that was such a small thing and easily forgiven based on all the other positives we experienced here. The restaurant is excellent and we enjoyed our breakfast, dinner and even coming back at the end of our evening out for night cap in the bar. Great atmosphere and wonderful people! Can only recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking for a top place to stay while in Vienna.

Great staff, friendly and serviceminded. Small room. No curtains bit wooden plates to cover the window, which is a fun idea but seemed cheap and not efficient. Chandelier was covered in dusty spiders web, floor had dust balls and window haven't been washed in a long time. Location is very good and interior decoration very stylish

Oh!! Everything is fantastic about this hotel. The rooms, the service. Loved my stay in this hotel. Very clean and high tech. Nice behaviour of staff. Don’t miss the pool on roof top. Although small, but great view of city. Very central, trains station, trams all nearby.

We stayed in the Hotel Grand Ferdinand for a family birthday. When we arrived, no one greeted us at the door to help us with our luggage. All our rooms had double beds, were extremely small and the shower was within the bedroom. While the staff accommodated our request to move rooms, we did not receive the service we expected. The rooms are not suitable for anyone other than a single person or couple. The rooftop bar, pool and views were incredible and the location is excellent. The staff and quality of the food at breakfast was also of a high quality. However, this was not a 5 star experience and very overpriced.

The hotel has an amazing location, attentive staff and a great rooftop bar with a small pool where you can rest after a day of sightseeing or shopping. The rooms are rather small for a 5*, missing proper bathroom (see pictures online before booking a stay) and some expected amenities like a bathrobe or tea & coffee making option in the room. Other than that it was a very plesant stay.

The hotel is beautiful. The whole concept is unique and very chic. The only downside was that the breakfast was not up to my expectations, although it costs a lot. The omlette was horrible and the selection of cheese, hams was fairly poor. You can sit on the terrace and enjoy your breakfast, which gives you stunning views of Vienna.

Amazing service and quality and location. Truly top ! Why not 5 stars? 1) room is priced as normal luxury room but has no privacy for shower and the sink is in the room like studio 2) gym is anemic: no proper machine or weights/tiny 3) pool is tiny However balcony is great and the two restaurants are run like pros and staff is top notch

Great air conditioned room with a very comfortable bed, beautiful breakfast, super location. The restaurant downstairs is also good. This is a boutique hotel, so not a Ritz level 5 star stay, but very nice for what it is. The customer service staff are all very young, with some seeming a bit new to hospitality. Very friendly but we got a bad recommendation from the front desk to a chain restaurant and sometimes the service on the rooftop was a bit chaotic. But these are small details as overall our group was very happy with our stay. I would definitely recommend and return there myself.

Really enjoyed the rooftop for breakfast and drinks in the evening. Bed was comfortable, quiet aircon for the hot days, comfort room was plenty spacious. Would happily stay again next time I visit Vienna.

Very nice hotel. The bar and restaurant on the top floor give a very good view of the city. Friendly staff and all English speaking. It is in the middle of the city the Opera House is a 5 minute walk.

Hotel is nice and location is perfect. But the rooms were really small with no closet. Friendly staff. Little overpriced for my liking. But the rooftop restaurant and the restaurant at the Hotel was awesome. Great schnitzel and wine.
