Horrible -5 unorganized, dirty, rooms stink. I booked a female dorm and in the middle of the night a man arrived in the room, this is unacceptable. The other girls didn't like it either. Reception has to be aware of this. No one there is nice or understands anything about hospitality, they must not even have training. The Hostel is really bad, I would never go back. It doesn't seem like a safe place either, the doors to the corridors are always open, anyone can enter. The lockers are were all broken.... The elevator stank of cigarettes and they were really unhygienic. The room didn't have a curtain and we sleep with the window open and with the noise from the avenue, and in the morning the sun doesn't let you sleep.... really horrible

Very dirty Hostel, with partly mould on the walls, and yellowed bedsheets. The toilets in the lobby smell and are definitely not recommendable. The staff is unfriendly, I had to wait over 10mins on the Bar to even get noticed. If possible I would give 0 Stars. Really guys, safe your money and get a good hotel near the city center, I recommend at least 4 stars.

The rooms are dark and scary, and the walls aren‘t painted. In the shower almost no water comes out and the sink tap is also very bad. You should rather sleep on the streets.

The location is not bad. The rest is a separate conversation. At first we were given a room on the attic floor and the attic window did not close there. There was a constant draft in the room and it was impossible to sleep there, given the rainy weather. We asked to do something with the window. After 20 minutes of unsuccessful attempts with the window, we changed the room to a more spacious, which was a little amusing. What I did not like - the walls are just cardboard and you can hear everything that happens in the neighboring rooms and on the floor. Also, very few guests hold the door and this constant slamming of the door creates a lot of discomfort, especially late at night and early in the morning. The windows are such that you can hear all the noise on the street, even if they are closed. But it is impossible to keep them closed, because the rooms are very hot. On the plus side - you can ask for an electric kettle on bail and make yourself a drink just in the room. There is a luggage room where you can leave as much luggage as you need. Also, the staff regularly asks if you do not need toilet paper and change towels, although the rooms themselves are rarely cleaned here. Another unpleasant moment. We had very heavy suitcases and on the phone we were assured that you can leave your luggage at the reception and someone will help to bring them into the room. As it turned out, in fact, no one helps with suitcases because such an option in the hotel simply does not exist. If the elevator went to each floor, it would not create serious problems. But to get to the elevator you had to go up one flight of stairs and with suitcases and also from the elevator you had to carry a suitcase one flight. In general, the hostel is very budget and if you do not pay attention to the problems, it is quite a good place.

Well located place you are 3 minutes away from station by foot . Good option if you are travelling on budget but considering poor room service I feel they charge unfair *Poor room service ( there was some red stain on our blankets and they didn't change our towels during these 3 days There wasn't any shampoo or hand soap , or toothpaste ) Breakfast buffet is complete and staff there are very nice and helpful Most of Staff in reception part were super nice ,responsive and friendly also they were ready to help no matter what time of the day it is . All in all I will back only if I want to stay one night for more than 2 days- stay I wouldn't choose it again .

Easy to find, generous parking, friendly reception. Our room 107 is wonderful, a corner family room. Many windows, at least 12 sockets to charge phones etc. Loadsa hot water. Sheets clean. Room slightly lived in, but hey. The price is ok. Only negative: to get to the lift you need to go down steps, then get out, and go up steps. Seriously. Disabled will be so happy.

I had an amazing 5 day stay. I had a single room with private bath. The room had a queen size bed with little room around it and no storage space. However it was clean and quiet. Like most houses there is no AC. I was comfortable because the night were cool/cold but the days got up in the high 80s. Breakfast was ok, plenty for me and well worth the extra$. Quieter than others not withstanding the presence of many high schoolers. I will 100% stay here again.

[This is a review that I left on Booking, but I decided to leave it here as well to see if the owner can have a better visibility on it] The hostel provides a great breakfast. Its location is also very comfortable, since you can catch any kind of transport nearby. Also, restaurants and supermarkets are in the closest vicinity. The hostel itself is quite modest, but my room was clean and tidy. However, the receptionists are quite rude. On the night when I arrived, there were some men banging on my door and walls, so I was afraid to stay in my room, as I travel alone. So, I approached the male receptionist N. and he was quite rude to me, like he was doing me a favor checking the corridor. I asked to switch the rooms, but he completely ignored my request and told he will only check the corridors and that's it. Thank God it only happened for one night and then those men left. And I stayed in my initial room. The rest of the nights were relatively calm, but the walls are quite thin in this hostel, so you can hear pretty much everything. Also, when I checked out, the girl was not very nice too. Please, give your receptionist a training on how to speak to clients because their job is not only to deal with computer. In addition, on the day before arriving, I had some troubles in checking in online, so I sent a message through Booking, but no one replied to me, so, please, work out on this as well. I will definitely not come back nor I will recommend it to my colleagues in any city of Europe. Besides, the situation I described above has happened to me for the first time in my life and I travel alone quite often. I also do not think that putting single female travelers with a big group of adult men on one floor is wise from your hostel. You do not know the people that are living in your hostel, so you cannot be responsible for each one of them. Imagine if something bad happens?

If you're looking for a top-notch hostel experience in Vienna, look no further than a&o Hostel Wien Stadthalle. From the moment you step through the doors, you'll be struck by the friendly atmosphere and welcoming vibe. One of the standout features of this hostel is the staff. In particular, I have to give a shoutout to Georgina, who works at the reception desk. She is an absolute superstar! From the moment My wife and I arrived, she was kind and welcoming, answering all of our questions and providing us with plenty of helpful tips for exploring the city. No request was too big or too small, and her positive energy was infectious. But it's not just Georgina who makes this hostel so special. The entire staff is clearly committed to providing exceptional service and ensuring that guests have a great stay. The rooms are clean and comfortable, relaxing after a day of sightseeing. The communal areas are well-maintained and inviting, with plenty of opportunities to meet other travelers and make new friends. And the location is simply unbeatable with easy access to public transportation to explore the rest of the city. To recommend.

Unfortunately, I did not have the most positive experience in the hostel. I stayed alone, the room was very high and far from the reception. At night, a drunk person was pulling on the door, I called the reception, but no one answered. I did not feel safe in the hostel. There were problems with the room card for three days, it did not work regularly. It was impossible to sleep, noise from outside and the corridor. Breakfast was good.

The hotel is not maintained very well I believe, on all the sinks water was accumulating and not flushing out easily. The room was very small for a family to fit in, but we had to accept. Be careful, the parking is not free.

It was an excellent experience for us! The staffs were welcoming, and really helpful! It was clean when we arrived there, even the corridor was tidy! But I agree the bed itselft not really comfortable, but no issue for me! Keep it up a&o team!

Terrible a&o hostel. For the night of our reservation the hostel was fully overbooked. Although we paid for the reservation and the stay, there was no room for us at all. We got a key card to “our” room and entered a private twin room with other guests sleeping inside. Full lack of security! Huge nightmare also for other guests! After hours of search in the middle of the night we received a room with dysfunctional bath sink, dirty bathroom, without curtains in the window and with broken window, which we were not able to fully close. Please be informed the hostel is in front of a busy/noisy street! Additionally, the room was entered by cleaning and repair-stuff without knocking and us still being inside. On top of that, there is no reply from the feedback/complains-service rendering the a&o company fully uncapable to provide hospitality services. Never ever again.

had a really great stay!! check-in was easy, luggage room available before & after checkin & checkout which is helpful. staff was very nice & i believe 24hr available. very clean room, stayed in a Private 2bed and it had its own little room for a toilet & sink, & another for shower + sink. heated towel rack! One bed was a little squeaky but overall comfortable and clean, window can open at top for air flow. Overall really good price for the night

Unfortunately, my stay at A&O Hostel in Vienna left much to be desired. Firstly, the location was quite inconvenient, far from the city center and major attractions, requiring a lengthy commute. The rooms were subpar and very congested and I didn’t feel comfortable. The common areas were often crowded and noisy, making it difficult to relax or socialize comfortably. The breakfast provided was underwhelming, with limited options and mediocre quality. Overall, A&O Hostel failed to meet my expectations, and I would not recommend it for a satisfying stay in Vienna.

I want to give zero stars, however the app doesn't let me. Overall experience at the hostel has been very bad. We stayed in a private room which was dirty, the beds had hair, the floor was dusty and the shower was dirty with stains. Luggage storage room looked like a trash room, don't think it was cleaned in the last 1-2 years. The hostel is in a very bad location too, it felt unsafe walking in the night. Do yourselves a favor and don't book this place.

The location is ok, the only good thing. The room hasn't AC, it was very hot and i couldn't open the windows to don't bother the other people. I think it's ridiculous that we have to pay for our sheets and then put them by ourselves.

It was a nice and clean place to stay. There is a Turkish shop nearby (a minute walk) to buy halal food. Shifali was at the reception and she was very helpful to help us with re-booking another room on short notice. We also asked her for recommendations for good Indian food around. She was too generous to give us her time and suggestions. Many thanks!

Looking at the reviews, i feel like me and some other people - we'd stay in a different hotels) Super friendly reception, yes, check in at 15:00 is a little late (but it's the same almost everywhere around EU), if you had a long tiring travel, but the lounge is so nice and comfy. Room is super clean, silent, the view to the city, all was good Parking area is huge, location is nice as well, very close to all kind of a public transportation. Cheap and nice host, definitely recommend

Hostel ,like a hostel the worst I ever been, i never see so terrible place, people work there like someone die before 1 hour. No smile, no regards, nothing. No any program for guest, animation, information, but if you ask them for information they are bad in all languages accept Ukraine. Only positive guy in that house is guy from night shift i think his name js Raymond, guy is legend, english perfect, german perfect, always smile, and ready for work, the rest of team should take something from him how to work. I work in gastronomy 17 years, and I never see something like this. Never again.

Nice place, i recommend choosing it if you need a cheap accommodation with good location. The stuff was kind, rooms clean, spacious and comfortable. The only inconvenience was no access to the kitchen.

  • 2/5 Graham G. 11 months ago on Google
Tiny room with no a/c so heard every siren of every police car or ambulance that went by. The restaurant next door played loud music into the night. But worst, asked the front desk where to get a bite and he said nothing opened until 6 pm for dinner...in the huge city of Vienna!!! Really! We found plenty of places open to serve us.

The hostel is close to a metro stop which is great, but not close to any of the sightseeing locations. Checking in went quickly, but nothing was explained about any areas or facilities of the hostel. The beds weren't made, you just get handed your stack of bedding, which is fine but the cover had a few rips in it and the pillow was covered in blood stains. There were also no lockers in my room so I ended up carrying my backpack around for the rest of the day after checking in. There is no air-conditioning in the room, but there is a nice big window which brings reprieve which would be fine if the hostel wasn't located right next to a busy busy road. I would definitely not recommend this hostel.

I've stayed here twice. Was really impressed by the hotel and price/value for money. Was better in winter, since in summer it was unbearably hot in the room. I woke up at 1 am with vertigo, had to crawl down to reception to get cold water. I have a heart problem and this happens when the weather is too hot. Receptionists are wonderful, and the hotel is otherwise GREAT.

We stayed in a "double room" for 3 nights but it was rather a single room with a double bed with basically no storage space (wardrobe or shelf) for our belongings, so we could not unpack after arriving. We could not sleep well because there was extremely hot and we had to open the window letting the outside noise in. The hostel is located next to a motorway which is quite busy at night as well. Breakfast was ok / nothing special but at least they filled up everything frequently. I would not recommend the place even for a short visit and would definitely not give it a second try.

Good place for an emergency stay after cancellation elsewhere. Rooms were a little warm and had a slight security concern with the door onto the street but staff were very helpful and quick to act. Kitchen could be better. For the price it was good and staff were great

  • 5/5 Shaden M. 9 months ago on Google
Check in and check out were super simple. The room was clean and the window provided enough ventilation for the temperature to be comfortable even in early July when I stayed. I stayed in a private room with its own bathroom. The space was small and simple, but it is a hostel and such should be expected.

Great location, It is easy to get anywhere, even at night It is pretty safe. Rooms might have been cleaner, staff working at reception is friendly. I needed to stay in Wien for transit connections and it was my choice since the cheap price and brand of A&O.

The bed was comfortable and so were the pillows. Linen was clean and fresh. Rooms are tiny. OK if you go with your own people. But strangers in the same room are right up beside you in your face. Hated that.

Best price around, good enough comfort. It is little bit old and grey here...but if you just trying to find cheap place to stay for a night or two this is the place for you. Very close to public transport. Close to Stadthallenbad...

  • 3/5 Michal H. 2 years ago on Google
Didn't fulfill my expectations, based on their presentation on Booking. Looked like a neat, professional hotel, but the staff at reception was very unprofessional, not being able to handle few guests. The walls and doors amd very thin, everything can be heard. That's not the biggest problem tho, because despite the location being amazing, 7 min walk from public transport, the road right in front of the hotel makes awful noise through day and night. Difficult to sleep even with closee window.

Very welcoming on arrival. All the things were well explained. Felt homely. Room is perfect with all the facilities we required for us. Stay here easily without paying a fortune.

  • 4/5 Mk B. 1 year ago on Google
It was a nice hostel with welcoming and friendly staff. There is no AC, so on especially hot days, you just have to try your best not to die of heat stroke inside. Not very close to the center of the city, but it is only about a 30 minute walk or so if you don't want to spend the money on public transit. Close to a mall which has a lot of restaurants and a supermarket so it's easy to get food or anything you need while staying there.

The location is excellent. Walking distance to Westbahnhof, to cinema, to library. The hostel is huge , but my room had a view to the inneryard: good. Not noisy. Tables and seating in the yard: good. The room was minimalistic with a huge bed and a tiny desk. Clean.

  • 2/5 Thijs H. 1 year ago on Google
We knew we booked ‘budget’ but this is ‘budget budget’ I guess. I would definitely recommend to spend your money somewhere else. The room is very small, no airco, no working ventilation, the doors to the hotel are open 24h a day, the shower is changing from ice to bloody-hot in 5 seconds, the towels are not changed daily, snacks in the lobby are crazy expensive (snicker €3,-) and the hotel is at a very noisy street. The location is fine (metro/tram close-by) Tip: you can park your car around the corner for €6,- a day @Hofferplatz parkgarage

One of the most extraordinary A&O hotels I've ever visited! The staff was super helpful and friendly. The breakfast was good, and the location of the hotel was stratagic I highly recommend this facility

  • 2/5 Ricardo G. 2 years ago on Google
The rooms are quite small comparing to the annouced photos (even though the staff may be kind and get you a family room if you are staying for a long period of time). Nevertheless, for several times during the night the room door was opened by someone, which can be a security problem. The coffee machine works just fine, but if you want to grab a beer from the hostel bar you may not be able to order a beer from the website's list, it will probably depemds in what they have on the fridge.

    1. The check-in time was 3pm. We went at 3.10pm but couldn't check-in until 4pm. There was only one receptionist and it was very very slow. 2. Just after check-in when we went to our room (4 bed room), we locked the room from inside, but suddenly someone opened the door from outside. Is it like the doors can be opened by any key card? Or the staff just likes to go around in the room? It was not a cleaning staff because on our door knob there was still the sign that "this room has been disinfected". So, no privacy or safety? 3. We got a room on the road and cafe side. People sit in the cafe and make so much noise that you will never be able to sleep. You will have to keep the windows open because there is no other ventilation, no fan, no AC. From the reception the fans can be rented but this is the first time we are seeing that if there is no other ventilation. The hotel is making money out of it by making the fan being rented. 4. Apart from outside noise, there is continuous noise from within the hotel. You can literally count how many times other people opened or closed there own doors. Atleast there can be a sign saying "don't slam your doors, our walls are too thin" Some positives: The room was very big and clean. There were enough charging points. The room was nice that is why I increased one star in the review!

Yeah, A&O mostly at its best. staff super cool, road little noisy.a little more green recreational space wouldn't hurt, better learn from A&O Berlin Ost or similar. In terms of furniture etc: not quite as new as A&O at Hauptbahnhof.

We stayed in hotel room for one night. Room on the fourth floor, small but clean. No AC, but what do you expect in budget place. Window with bad blinds, but we were too tired to pay attention to it. Very bad pillows, our necks hurt a lot 2 min from subway which is awesome Overall I would say it’s pretty ok knowing that u can’t find smth better for such money

Location is decent with proximity to U bahn and Bus stop. Reception and staff are good. Rooms are exceptionally pathetic to say the least but if you somehow stop thinking about it in comparison to the price paid it makes sense. Washrooms were clean. I think if you've high expectations of hygiene you should definitely avoid this place. Rooms are not very clean other than that everything else is 5/5

I am a huge fan of A&O Hostels' services as I use them frequently. Unfortunately, I have to write an honest review for the specific A&O branch (A&O Stadthalle Wien) in Vienna. Regarding the rooms, they were not clean. Additionally, the toilets were not in good condition, the sink was not working, and the lights in the area were almost too dark. Honestly, I have used other branches of A&O Hostels, and they were fantastic, especially in Venice and Prague. However, in Vienna, I was disappointed with their staff and the condition of their rooms. I hope this review helps people before they book rooms at this specific branch.
