Came for lunch....decided on a sharing platter instead of the carvery. Was not disappointed. Polite and helpful staff. Thanks, we'll be back

It was a very pleasant experience from entering until leaving. The greeting was as it should be, the staff were friendly, helpful and efficient, which is a credit to them, but ultimately down to management. We opted for the carvery, one of whom decided to go for the vegetarian option; which he was very happy with. The rest of us went for the carnivore option, and tried a variety of the meats on offer, all were served in an acceptable portion, while the very good selection of accompanying vegetables were cooked to perfection. The establishment and grounds were in good order, and very clean and tidy Keep up the amazing work lads and lasses, Brian.

Very nice enjoyable evening with some work mates in here on a midweek, the staff explained there may be a bit of a wait before we could get our food order in, which was perfect. The food was great value and very good, quality was better than I expected too. Good pub and friendly staff make this place a winner!!

Called in for a breakfast before a busy day out and about. They greeted us and informed us of the seating and methods of purchasing the meal. We got our plates which were nicely warm and the choice of breakfast items were great. Everything was hot and tasty. The place was clean, tidy and the staff was constantly around the place.

Been today for a special meal for our 42nd wedding anniversary. Welcome was lovely but despite being nearly empty we were put at a tiny 2 person table,my husband is 6 ft 6ins and 20 stones ordered our food mixed grill and gammon I don't eat pineapple so just had egg which I don't know how else to say but snotty swopped my hubby one but his was totally opposite solid yolk with a skin on and chips were awful. We used to use Silkwood every Monday when I ran a pub and every Sunday for our lunch really sad but after today we will not be going back. So disappointed.

Great fresh carvery, fantastic selection of desserts and a takeaway cake station (highly recommend the giant eclair). Really friendly staff - whatโ€™s not to love?

Not bad, not too bad on the portion side either and great for families. The carvery. Oh I wish I had gone for the carvery. It looked yummy. Next time?..Definitely!..We will sample it.

Weโ€™ve been sampling The Carveryโ€™s around Yorkshire for a while & have come to the conclusion Silkwood Farmhouse Wakefield is the number 1๐Ÿ†๐Ÿด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ฅ๓ ฎ๓ ง๓ ฟ๐Ÿคฉ eatery for your fresh carvery everyday & twice on a Sunday ๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿ˜ unbelievable fresh veg every time along with great cuts of meat. A big thanks to the hosts Deborah, Andrew & Sammie. Highly recommended Donโ€™t forget your cheeky slide of cake for afters ๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿ˜‹

Ordered curried chicken skewers, came with yogurt on the meal, explained that I can't have milk (I'm new to this no milk ๐Ÿ˜ข) they got me fresh and also mentioned the curry sauce may contain traces of milk which I thought was lovely and for me went above and beyond. Lovely food and amazing staff. My pic is of afterwards lol

An honest , warm, friendly pub with excellent customer service and great food. Was going to have a pub classic but was tempted by the carvery - wasnโ€™t disappointed!! Lots of choice in terms of vegetables and sauces, a mountain of gravy and generous portions of meat. Lizzy was really friendly and helpful, as well as the team behind the bar. ๐Ÿ‘

What's to say? Pub grub. Good value, non Michelin star food. Service is polite and friendly but sometimes a little too informal? Great for a quick bite. They offer blue light discount. Though its not easy to claim. And they offer simply awesome cake take aways. Good point. Ask the dishes come with calorific values on the menu. All in all. Recommended. And very near to 4 stars

Ate here today as a family of 4, it was nice to put our feet up and let somebody else do the cooking. From the moment we stepped through the door we were greeted with smiling faces, lovely Christmas atmosphere. Clean and spacious table. Food was tasty, hot and filling. Service was a 10. Regular check backs even though it was bustling and busy. Will definitely be back in the new year

Terrible service. My son is disabled and sometimes struggles to remain seated during meal times. I also have a 5 month old daughter who is still too small for a high chair and as a result stays in her car seat during meal times. The car seat will just about fit on a standalone chair, but is much more secure squeezed into a booth. For both these reasons I made sure to request a booth when making our booking. For whatever reason this request was ignored and we agreed to compromise by sitting at a corner table with the hopes that our son could sit between a wall and a parent. We then proceeded to order, my husband and I ordered a carvery and we ordered our son a pizza. Usually we are given an approximate ETA for our sons food so that we can coincide our carvery with the arrival of his food. No time was given so we waited around 10 minutes before getting our carvery. My husband and I grabbed our food and when we returned to our table a waitress asked if we had everything we needed. We told the waitress that we were still waiting on our sons meal. I didnโ€™t see another member of staff until my husband and I had finished our meals and they attempted to clear our plates. We explained that our sons food still hadnโ€™t arrived. Another 5 minutes or so passed and another member of staff attempted to clear our plates. Once again we explained we were still waiting for our sons meal. This waitress apologised and explained there was a new chef working tonight which explains the delay. I personally do not accept this as a valid excuse. Presumably management was trying to reduce staffing costs by scheduling a new member of staff to work alone rather than shadow an experienced chef. By the time my sons food had arrived he had become very worked up and refused to eat his dinner. We asked yet another member of staff if we could get a takeout box for our sons food as he was visibly upset and wanted to leave. By this point my son and 5 month old daughter were both visibly distraught, however the waitress chose to carry on cleaning a table and then proceed to clear a further 3 tables before grabbing us a takeaway box. When coming to your establishment to enjoy a meal with my family I certainly donโ€™t expect to be leaving with myself, my son and my daughter in tears. We shall not be returning and I suggest you invest more time and effort training your staff.

On Arrival, customer service was quick reliant, and we were seated reasonably fast. Inside is clean and spacious. There is plenty to choose from on the menu. This place is fairly busy the majority of the time, which shows it's doing something right. The food arrived fairly quickly. But you do get what you pay for. The starters were nice and spot on, can't go wrong with cheesy garlic bread and souther fried chicken strips. The mains were alright, we ordered crispy chicken medley and the dirty hunters burger. (Please see photos) The burger was nice, but the bread was quick to fall apart, so eating it as a sandwich was too difficult and messy. The corn on the cob must have been boiled as biting into this left a puddle on the table ๐Ÿ˜… But the overall standard was ok. I'd recommend this place as a quick pub lunch or tea to have a bite to eat rather than a big occasion to celebrate

Joe & Lucy were great with us at Silkwood Farm today! Joe, the chef, made the perfect burger for my Mum. In this heat to stay positive and ensure the quality of the food en keeps with the norm standard of excellence really is amazing! Lucy was our waitress and she went above and beyond to make us comfortable, informed with our order progression and didnโ€™t leave us needing to ask for anything. Great local restaurant, great staff & atmosphere.

Came for a meal yesterday with family. The food was immaculate especially the puddings. Donโ€™t think iโ€™ve ever seen a place give out as big as a portion as i have here. Definitely worth the price. On the other hand staff were nowhere to be seen. Didnโ€™t see one waiter/Waitress check on any table near to weโ€™re we sat only saw the odd couple pop up when a table needed cleaning. Other than that 5 star for me

Good food, good atmosphere, warm and welcoming staff. We have eaten here several times and will continue to do so. Also, the cakes are amazingly good too. A nice coffee to finish off the lovely meal.

Shout out to Niall and Jack for their service tonight. Friendly, helpful and professional. Mixed reviews from us today. We've been coming to Silkwood fairly regularly since it opened but our last few visits haven't been as good overall as they used to be. We both had a carvery at roughly 4.45pm. No complaints about the meat at all, between us we had turkey, ham and beef and they were all great. However, the veg wasn't great at all. Apart from the cauliflower cheese, that had just come out and was red hot and fresh. The rest of the veg looked dry as though it had been under the lights for ages. Roast potatoes were soft and dry and other veg rock hard. Yorkshire puddings were bought in, soft / soggy. We ordered puddings later on and each plate was enough to serve 3-4 adults and was delicious! Atmosphere in the restaurant was fine, few feral (!) children running the stretch between the bar, past the carvery and round the corner to the children's area. I'm not sure if they were short of staff but there was only one person serving the bar and taking food orders which led to a few customers yelling out for more staff which didn't do the atmosphere much good. Also unsure if it was due to a fewer staff however the tables The ladies toilets need sorting out ASAP. One door has no lock at all so a huge hole in the door, the other had a lock that's hanging off and leaves a huge hole on the door to see through. Not ideal. There really is no reason you can't get a joiner in instantly. The air con was broken too. Has been a while. Apparently the bosses are in no rush to fix it. Well, until some of them came for a meal and were red hot themselves. Again, not ideal. It's only been 10 months since was fixed last with a 10 year guarantee! The pub gets packed and it's far too warm. Every customer commented on being uncomfortable as did a number of the staff. They were clearly roasting. Unfair working conditions and there's no reason for it to be that way. Still given 3/5 as everything that was wrong today are easy fixes. Just do it! Book a joiner, call the aircon engineer back in and hire another bar man! Thanks again to Niall :)

We called in for a bite too eat and we were very happy with our overall experience ๐Ÿ˜Š it was very busy so we made sure we booked and we were seated quickly and we ordered from our table with the app. The drinks and starters came out at the same time and they were hot and tasty. It did take long for our mains to come out and they were brilliant portions and we're perfectly cooked and tasted really nice very happy with our food. The staff were very friendly and happy to help and it was a cosy atmosphere we did look at the cake away (huge cake portions you can take away or eat in the restaurant). So I would highly recommend this restaurant it's great for families and for couples and anyone who wants a bite to eat and drink

Lovely staff and food. The food was delicious and hot. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Food took a bit long, but staff reassure us that it wouldn't be too long. This didn't stop us from having a great dinner. I would recommend this to anyone.

I visited mid afternoon, mid week on a very wet day. Parking was plentiful and there were electric charging stations if needed. The venue had a number of customers but it was not noisy or crowded and no blaring background music so easy to talk. Lots of tables of different sizes to choose from. An excellent menu but the carvery won hands down! Small, regular and large plates were on offer. Turkey, beef and gammon were the meat choices and so many vegetables to choose from. Onion or ordinary gravy to top it off. Calories marked up which was great for my two colleagues on diets. Reasonable prices. Sadly no room for the HUGE cakes. Nice to see a Macmillan fundraising table. Service was excellent.

Not a very warm welcome and rude staff, to start our dining experience with, probably because they were over worked, due to lack of staff. You really do need to have separate staff serving drinks and food. They canโ€™t do both, and customers donโ€™t want to wait in the food queue to order drinks!!!! Our food was basic but tasty. We enjoyed what we had. The Christmas decorations are fab and there was a lovely atmosphere. Wishing you luck with the remainder of the holiday season. Smile!!!!!!

Huge Carvery very well spaced out inside and cheap! That does not mean the quality of the food is bad either. I only had a gripe with the roast potatoes being dry but maybe at the time I went, those that were brought out were not so good and the next hour better ones came out. Such is how this kind of place works, all the staff are friendly and look happy.

Was as expected - cheap & cheerful! Meals were hot & well presented, both of us enjoyed. Only blot was lack of cleaning/tidying outside. England as a whole really needs to do better, take some lessons from Spain!!

Went for a breakfast 3/11/21. What a change last time I went was cooked fresh for you and it was beautiful. Now you help yourself and I was not impressed at all. Everything was cold or well done, it was not late in the morning arrived about 9 am so everything should have been warm. Service was slow staff sat about talking. One was walking about coughing with no mask on. I don't usually leave reviews but I think your table service was alot nicer...

  • 3/5 Jo W. 2 years ago on Google
Food was tasty, however the mashed potato had massive lumps the size of a dessert spoon in places and the beef was too tough to cut, but tasted nice. Only 2 meat options as the gammon 'wouldnt cook'. We thought maybe the oven was on the Fritz as the roast potatoes had no colour to them.

Ordered 2 carverys on the app to collect last Sunday. When I arrived to pick them up it was rather busy. I was advised to head over to the till and they'd get my food, they were fast at serving me. I was expecting to have to wait briefly for my food with it being Sunday and being so busy. The manager kept chatting to me and reassuring me it wouldn't be long which was lovely of her. The food and cake was amazing! The amount of food you get too is incredible! From start to finish by experience was fantastic. I would 100% recommend. All the staff were so lovely and polite and the food was delicious ๐Ÿ˜‹

First time visiting this evening with my family, the place was extremely busy but the manager managed to seat us straight away and go over the whole ordering process with us since we mentioned it was our first time. She explained how to use the app or that we can still order at the bar. A lovely pleasant evening, food was great and very good value! The manager made our visit for us, we felt at ease and she always had a smile on her face even though she was running round everywhere making sure everyone has the best experience! She delivered exceptional service and is an absolute credit to the team! Will definitely be back!

First time visiting and so glad we came. Initially service at the bar was prompt and polite, then once seated we were served by Steph who was really attentive and polite, she was obviously new but she was friendly and professional and in a few weeks she will be flying!! Truly cared about out customer experience and that is very special and essential for someone working front of house. Food was lovely, well priced and well I'm still speechless over the size and selection of cakes and desserts. Thank you too to Debbie who also made us feel very welcome. Would highly recommend after today's visit. Thank you.

Always wonderful service. We are regulars and they always make us (and our four young children!) feel so welcome. Great food, value for money and always happy to return. Big thanks to Claire today who was incredibly polite, prompt and incredibly helpful. Would certainly recommend a visit!

Excellent carvery. Proper homemade Yorkshire Puddings not the usual "Aunt Bessie's". All the vegetables were hot and very tasty. Would definitely recommend. If you have been before and not been impressed try it again it has improved 100%.

Had a lovely visit this morning. First time having a breakfast and won't be our last!!! Definitely would recommend. Naomi, Alex and the lovely cake lady were really welcoming and friendly. The General Manager also made time to speak with us. Amazing service, lovely environment and friendly atmosphere -

Nice place and lovely staff, but the roast potatoes and Yorkshire puddings could have been cooked better. Both were rather hard. Otherwise, a good time was had. The Eton Mess was a particular delight!
