We had a great meal here last night, everything was delicious except for the bruscetta starter which was a little stale and tasteless. The service was fast and our waiter was very friendly. The only other thing I found surprising was that the two main pasta dishes were still full price (£15) despite us asking for the meat to be removed from them. I'd have expected them to be slightly less due to them being made vegetarian - but this is just a thought and maybe I'm wrong.

Went with a friend for lunch today and all I can say it as absolutely fantastic. Once a month we meet for lunch and have been going to another well known Italian in the City. Never again always Ask from now on. John our waiter was phenomenal, I couldn't believe just how good he was. Nothing was a trouble to him, he is an absolute asset to this restaurant and we will certainly be back.

Heating not working but the staff couldn’t do enough. They gave us a complimentary hot drink and a lovely warm blanket for around our legs so made it very cosy. Nicole our server was lovely, chatty and very attentive. Food was delicious as always.

Been several times of late. When the waiter remembers you instantly from the last visit it shows you matter. Excellent wine, perfect calamari lovely range of mains and desserts. Would highly recommend to anyone

Arrived on time, table not ready asked to wait at the bar. Fine but nobody took a drink order for 15 minutes and the table we were waiting at was being used às a general dumping ground. See photos. Finally get sat at a table under the stairs, so dark you need the torch on your phone to read the menu. Ordered a mixed platter to share which finally arrived for the starter. Cheese frozen and rock hard, supposedly fresh bread had that cold tinge of obviously being microwaved. Manager said there would be no charge for that as it was not right, which is fair enough. We cancelled the mains as we had now waited far too long and restaurant by this time was largely empty. Offered to pay for the drinks but to be fair they said not to pay anything. It was a shambles. Avoid at all costs. One star as zero not an option.

I used to think ASK Italian was the best pizza place in town, so I decided to order a quick pasta before going to the theater. Unfortunately, the standards of the past are no longer upheld. The linguine was limp and overcooked, the seafood was tasteless and bland, and the sauce was watery and flavorless. I ate it anyway, hoping that dessert would make up for it. However, the desserts were also disappointing. The salted caramel panna cotta was cheap and tasted artificial, and the Amarena cherries & mascarpone were bland and boring. The only good thing was the raspberry sorbet. Overall, I was very disappointed with my meal at ASK Italian. The food was mediocre at best, and the prices are high. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. Specifics of the food The linguine was limp and overcooked. The seafood was tasteless and bland. The sauce was watery and flavorless. The food is good just like most the ASK Italian restaurants. However, the service is outstanding. The waitresses are really nice and friendly. We went there at noon so there wasn't too many people.

Lovely date night with my dad. We booked in advance, thankfully, as it was busy! Service was great, we were shown to our table quickly and our drinks arrived quickly. The food was delicious, although the portion sizes were big. We also had a voucher for a dessert, which you can vet by signing up on the website. Great value for money. Our waiter, Simon, was outstanding. He was cheerful and so helpful and really made our evening so enjoyable.

Good quality of pasta and pizza. Very creamy pasta and rich cheeses on margarita. Slightly expensive but I will come back.

I had previously been to Ask Italian in York and really liked it. So trying out the restaurant in Liverpool was an easy choice. The food was amazing service was great and the price was very reasonable. It was that good we went back later in the week for lunch.

In Liverpool for a short stay. Service was excellent. Food was good quality. Monday evenings are never really buzzing, but the staff made for a very pleasant, relaxed atmosphere. We returned the next day, so highly recommended.

First time visiting the Liverpool restaurant of this chain. Nice, clean setting and friendly staff. Tried two new items on the menu, the wilted spinach, potato, crispy Parma ham and chicken salad was very nice although not very filling so had the sticky toffee, coffee pudding too! At first I was disappointed at the size of the portions but it was very rich. It was fairly quiet for lunchtime not sure if it was because the restaurant is in an elevated position by the bus station. Nevertheless it was reasonably priced and we would go again

Nicole our server was lovely and friendly. Really helpful when asking what was in dishes. Nicole also helped us by advising where to go and visit in Liverpool. Was greeted with a shot of still lemonade which was very freshing. Food was lovely, fresh and hot.

Been here once before and wanted to again. Much busier this time but they found us a table in no time. The atmosphere is lovely and homely, especially with all the families. Our server Nicole was absolutely amazing. She was cheery and bright and so so attentive. Appreciate it so much. Saw her working around and she was especially kind and playful with the children. The food was amazing, especially the side of lasagne fritti. Highly recommend!

The waitress who showed us to table was very knowledgeable and friendly - mentioned that lemons used for complementary lemonade drink were coated in wax that is not vegan. The food was very good, but there was a very long wait for dessert. We were asked if we would like Parmesan with two very clearly labelled (literally labelled!) vegan main courses, which was a little disappointing but I wouldn't downgrade somewhere due to that. If it wasn't for the long delay on dessert I would rate 5 stars.

Food was delicious but ordering on the app is not great experience signal disappearing an order going through to kitchen twice multiple times can make a very expensive evening we where lucky the waitress realised and sorted it out for us

For seafood lovers it.s the jackpot. The butterfly king prawns are toooooo die for! The staff is very friendly and i appreciate that they.ve been so understanding about my allergies. In most places i feel judged because of them. Clearly coming back again.

I love Ask Italian but didn't feel upto the usual standard here. Seating and general decor is a bit basic compared to others in the chain. Some of the food was cold but the pizza was delicious as always.

  • 1/5 julie 2 years ago on Google
if i could put half a star i would. carbonara was tasteless and the ‘specialty’ pollo milanese was two sad soggy breaded fillets with no flavour whatsoever. the broccoli was hard and undercooked and the potatoes were just pitiful. don’t waste your money here.

A group of six adults and a child walked in and were instantly greeted by a member of staff. Our meals were with us quite quickly and we're absolutely delicious. The friendliness of the staff was brilliant. I've never been to this restaurant before I liked it so much I plan to go back very soon

Always a winner! From atmosphere to food this place just hits every time! Made to feel welcome straight away by Simon and he looked after us for the remainder of our meal, excellent service. Would recommend the N'duja dough balls as a starter, enough to share for 2 as long as you can handle a slight spicy kick. I have had a few different mains but the one for me has to be the Lasagne and going "grande" is a must. If I could give this dish more than 5* I would, great value for money, can't wait to come back!

Food and wine OK but why did the waiter address me as 'mate'? Call me old fashioned (I'm a man in my 50s) but as a paying customer I'd rather be addressed as 'Sir'. Plus the floor wasn't clean. A better standard of service and some attention to detail would go a long way.

Delicious food and very friendly staff. Not sure on the waiters name but he was on his break eating his food but he still seated us and took our order fair play to him. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit and would come back again! 😊

We were a party of 2 adults and 3 teens. Didn't book but we're welcomed in regardless. Handed homemade lemonade in shot form as we were seated which was lovely and quickly given out menus and drinks order taken. We had calamari and king prawns to start which were both amazing and the pasta mains were equally as good. Unfortunately there isn't one of these restraunts near were we live other wise we would be regulars 🙂

Had a great pre-theatre meal here last week. Restaurant was really busy and staff were working as hard as they could to meet the demand. We were really well looked after and impressed with the service even when the restaurant was as busy as it was.

Had a nice lunch here at the weekend. It's pretty quiet around 2-3 on a Saturday. We shared a pizza, some burrata, calamari and zucchini fritti. The Primavera Forever pizza was really tasty, and it worked very well to dip the stonebaked crusts into the pesto dip with it. We took the leftover pizza home as it was so nice. Burrata was nice enough, but it looked a bit sad on the plate and could have been perked up with fresh basil or a crostini. The zucchini was fine for nibbles, but as a side, I would have liked to see more substantial chunks of courgette rather than small bits. I'm afraid that the calamari was pretty bad. It was just tasteless and chewy to the point of being difficult to eat. There was no lemon served with with it. I had a strawberry mocktail which was very nice and not too sweet. I was also happy that they brought plenty of cold tap water to the table. Service was good and we had a friendly server. I would eat here again, I just wouldn't have the calamari! As far as chain Italians go, it's pretty pricey but had some nice options. Pizza is always a safe bet.

Food and service very good. Pity you couldn't tip the waiter though, due to their policy.
