First off, neat looking place! Clean and very welcoming atmosphere with a very pleasant and friendly staff. Food looks good and taste good! Massive and juicy chicken tenders 3x that of chick fil a! A little bland to my taste but the BBQ sauce with hot sauce did some justice. Got my order wrong but was very happy to replace it. The soda was flat and also was very fast to take care of the issue. Like I said the staffs are very nice and lovely. Price is very fair for the excellent meal. Will come back to try other items on the menu.

So it's pretty much what it says, it's a test kitchen that has a bunch of stuff. Catfish, rib tips, turkey tips, ribs, fried mushrooms just to name a few and dessert. A bunch of stuff as well as regular chicken. Make sure you ask for sauce 😉

Came in town for Naval graduation...came across this place...good food..cabbage,yams...turkey tips, rib tips, just GOOD!

The BEST soul food and fried chicken in Lake County. Staff is friendly and menu has lots of delicious options. Banana pudding and cherry kool-aid are my treat to myself. Love their man n cheese, black-eyed peas, okra, fried mushrooms. A welcome break from the everyday options around. Locally owned, black owned. Hope they stay in business a very long time.

We have been getting Brown's for years now. The most we have spent is over $100. Adding sides is what gets costly. The problem is, they all are yummy!!! This time we just got chicken, breaded mushrooms, biscuits, LG order of rib tips (came with rolls), Mac n cheese, beans n rice and mashed potatoes. Oh yeah, side of fries. There was 5 of us eating this meal. It was delicious! I've never had the ribs before, but will definitely order them again. I usually will not eat anyone but hubby's rib tips, so that is saying something! Very tasty and sauce was tangy. Biscuits are the best out of the chicken joints!

After having moved out of state 6 years ago, I've constantly annoyed my wife about how much I miss Brown's. Well, came home and immediately went there for lunch and it's just as fantastic as I remember! The staff was friendly and the food was on point!

This place never disappoints. I used to eat here and get the same two chicken sandwiches once a week for 3 years while I had to commute down to Gurnee 3 time a week for work. Eventually I no longer had to commute and my stops at Brown's were the only thing I missed about the commute. I stopped by here today for the first time in five years and it was just as good as I remembered it. No change in quality or flavor whatsoever. Absolutely phenomenal.

This is NOT your ordinary Brown's Chicken. They cook SOUL food here in addition to their Brown's selection. This expanded menu ranks as some of the best bbq in the area. AND, the staff treats you as if YOU are the most important guest of the day. AND...they have electronic gaming! OMG!!!

Good carry out chicken. Beats any KFC chicken hands down. Friendly service, 8 price mixed parts order only had 6 pieces. I let them know and they made up that diff with 4 pieces, no argument.

Food was good. But I'm excited that THIS Browns has started a SOUTHERN SOUL FOOD Test Kitchen! I'm not sure if it's at every Browns or not, but it's here. Sat 4pm - 8pm. I WILL BE CHECKING IT OUT!

They Italian beef sandwiches so damn good better then portilos and I'm not over exaggerating the only thing I don't like about this place is they are not open enough during the week but other then that the food is fu#king delicious

Their food is great! But they can NEVER get my order right. I go there often and every time I go they always mess something up or missing items in my order

Was looking forward to coming here since my hours are crazy. Had high expectations and the food quality was LESS AND UNDERD0NE AND UNACCEPTABLE. SERVICE WAS EVEN WORSE. NO POINT IN ASKING FOR A REFUND BECAUSE THAT'S HOW AFRICAN AMERICAN BUSINESS WORKS...JUST DON'T WASTE YOUR GAS OR MONEY

I’m gonna start off by saying the staff is very pleasant to interact with and this was one of the best “customer service interactions” we’ve ever had. Now the food… would not chose to eat Brown’s over competitors. The sides are below average tasting and the fried chicken is way too fatty and the flavor isn’t anything special. My kid didn’t even wanna finish his fries. I really wanted to like it, but I would honestly only return for desserts. We had the caramel cake from there and it was amazing.

I can and order a few item tonight and my liver had to be old and sitting out and my gizzards. I tried to call but they are closed and I just made it home to check. It’s a first but said to say..

First time, the server was super nice, gave us a sample to try ..which we selected the brisket , which was so tender and delicious. Corn bread was so-so, but the mac and cheese was terrible ..cheese tasted kinda sour ..had the consistency of cheese wiz, yuk..

Absolutely OUTSTANDING! We don't have Brown's Chicken by us anymore. My son saw the Brown's while driving in Waukegan. We decided to have lunch there.. not knowing the homemade BBQ was part of it! The Brown's Chicken was still amazing, but the BBQ? To die for! We had the cabbage as one of our sides. I have never tasted anything like it! It was absolutely delicious! The homemade Bourbon sauce was amazing! Everyone there was just so friendly and nice. We don't live anywhere near Waukegan, but I told them we will DEFINITELY BE BACK!!

We ordered the 8pcs chicken and when i got home the chicken they gave us is burnt u could not eat it no matter how hungry we areand when we complained this girl name gina is so rude rude rude.

First chicken place i go to... where they are soo busy---- but still manage to be so so nice. Now brown is our only chicken spot... oh and great ribs too!!

I went during dinner rush this time, hoping to get a fresh, edible meal. But, rib tips were burnt, chewy like leather. Couldn't eat them. Went about 8pm another time, got old, cold, overcooked chicken that sat around awhile. I have had good chicken from here plenty times, but recently the food has been overcooked.

Ever since covid happend they closed down their eat inside option which causes a line problem through the drive thru. They also screw up orders easily because of the speaker that might not work very good on either end. You also have to yell for them to hear you. It was way better b4 covid.

I love all the choices on the menu. Plus kool-aid wow. Ribs are great but skimpily! CATFISH CATFISH CATFISH bang for your buck there and it taste great. I haven’t gotten the chicken since tasting that. I haven’t tried the Cajun yet. Its my go too with the two sides it’s a good size meal. The desserts are a bit pricey. love the staff

Great food but they NEVER answer the phone anymore! So to drive all the way up there to find out that they are out of the things I wanted is disappointing to say the least.

This place is so good. If you want comfort food this is the place to go… I’m guessing they’re not used to tips but if you tip they will take care of you

🥰Well, initially my wife ❤️had stopped off and got some ribs at Brown's unbeknownst to me. I thought they came from City or Hillary's or some of the other places around town like Big Ed's maybe. But she said they came from Brown's Chicken! I was pleasantly surprised so today she went back, picked up a big order, and the ribs were done to perfection! Now, they have lots of different sauces to choose from, but the flavor of the ribs is such, that you don't need any sauce! And that is the mark of delicious ribs and an expert Pitmaster. Cut into the ribs, and you can see the smoke Corona from that slow cooking around the edges and in about a 16th of an inch. Inside super tender and juicy! No additives needed! The price is very competitive to the other barbecue joints, including captain porky's. Really the best value for your buck at browns, and the best flavor.👍
