Small Japanese market with a surprisingly wide selection! The prices are very fair, comparable or cheaper than Mitsuwa/Sunrise Mart from what I’ve seen (UCC Drip Coffee at Sunrise Market was a dollar more than at Taiyo). I have not tried their hot food items but it’s a cool that they have those available as well. They have most of the basics you would need to create Japanese cuisine (Mirin, Dashi, etc.). Additionally they carry Japanese beers which I love! They have Hitachino Nest beers, Sake Jelly Shots, and some other beers. Also they serve hot canned coffee - just like in Japanese combinis. If you’re in the area it’s well worth a quick visit.

This spot is a hidden gem for Korean / Japanese dishes. The food is so fresh and tasty, only the finest ingredients seem to be used here. Highly recommend the spicy pork rice bowl. Great selection of interesting groceries too. The bubble tea and ice coffee here is excellent as well!

Small Japanese marketplace featuring a dining area that serves hot food! The ramen is freshly made & perfect for a cold day. They offer household items, vegetables, groceries, snacks & a ton more. Check this place out & get some ramen!

I was skeptical about the ramen. I have shopped at this store over on 45th st and queens Blvd. but this location is literally a few blocks from my apartment. Right now I’m eating the miso ramen with jambo shrimp and extra menma and am loving it! The broth is delicious and the noodles taste great! If you want some great Japanese ramen, please come here!

This store has quite good variety of goods for such a small place. Prices are very reasonable and some things are really cheap. My favorite Meiji Hello Panda Cookies here are just $0.99! They also have a hot foods available such as miso soup, ramen ($8-9) and udon ($6-8). As well as they have frozen stuff, condiments, etc. Basically everything you might need/want. They might lack of some brands or variety, but most likely you’ll find a substitution. Customer service seems to be a low quality and not considered as a priority, but I got only a pack of cookies, so I didn’t run on any problems so far.

This has been my best discovery in Woodside so far, and I've lived here for a year. I came in just needing some dashi, and the lady (whom I presume to be the owner) asked me what type I needed. I didn't even know there were types. Anyway, she helped me choose one based on what I wanted to cook. Beyond the lady's kindness, the grocery has a great selection of Japanese goods (noticed the Meiji Choco Baby, which I grew up snacking on). Tried the teriyaki chicken bowl, too - very delicious! While preparing my order, the lady offered me a taste of the seaweed they use, which is definitely fresh and natural. Overall, this place is an 11/10, would recommend. Please support this small business.

Great place to pick up Japanese groceries, bentos and snacks. Newly opened second location. A bit smaller and less products than their original store in Sunnyside. Update 04.19.18 They now serve ramen and other hot foods there and you can eat there like a Japanese conbini (convience store) 🍜🍱🍙
