Matt Is a true master in his element. His restaurant is a true expression of his gift. His food is his gift. My family had the pleasure of enjoying one of our favorite meals of all time at his restaurant just last Saturday. We enjoyed many items from the menu including linguine, gnocchi, deconstructed lobster, ravioli, rack of lamb as well as appetizers which included mouth watering mussels. I look forward to visiting this small and unassuming fine dining establishment again soon! Thanks so much, Matt! You and your staff made our special dinner amazing!! I would highly recommend visiting this Italian Ristorante! *Oh, I almost forgot to mention their wood-fired pizza - Margherita style was off the charts, mouth, watering and something to be savored even as a leftover!!!

Matteo’s is definitely my top 10 restaurant not only coz the food is extremely well prepared , tasty , fresh and delicious mouth watering dishes . My favorite is Alfredo fettuccine , gnocchi , caprese salad , stuff ricotta pasta with rose sauce . Everything they make there is amazing fresh and delicious . Me my whole family loves to visit Matteo’s every so often . They give us complimentary bread with the dip in which is my dads absolute favorite he almost likes it more then everything else . Breads always fresh cut amazing selection of wine and whiskey . amazing restaurant extremely amazing team of people always smiling and u get served with love . If u r new in town or if u visiting or if u r a foodie like me u should and must visit this place and try and let me know how ur experience was :) I bet the pasta u eat here will make u want to go for more :)

All we can say is wow! We’ve been craving a wood oven pizza and we’re so happy we chose this restaurant! Perfect amount of toppings, a nice sauce- not too sweet! Full of flavour! Worth the wait! Thanks! We will be back!

Ordered takeout on Friday night; had to wait 10-15m however, I was acknowledged and re-assured that my order would be finished soon. For the time being, I was offered a small glass of wine to enjoy while I waited and was thanked endlessly for my patience. Fantastic service; other restaurants have a thing or two to learn from Matteo's!

Update 2/22 Impeccable service, fantastically fresh food and handmade pasta. Review stands years later. Historic Stopped in for dinner, greeted with a warm friendly smile. Food was fantastic, service was on point. Attentive all the way through. Prices are reasonable, food is quality and tasty. Great value, highly recommended.

My husband & I made a last minute decision to go somewhere local for dinner on a busy Friday night. When we walked up we were worried there wouldn't be a seat available for us. They made space for us & took care of us. They even started us off with some tasty appetizers, which were amazing. Our food was fabulous, my husband got the Atomic Pizza which was full of flavour & so yummy. I ordered the Chicken Milano which was cooked perfectly, and the vegetables on the side were all tasty as well and cooked just right. Thanks for a great meal ☺️

I work 37 years in Reastrants and hotels business. Matthew's it's unique and cozy Italian place. The food is prepared likes grandmother cooking delicious well served. The selection of wines from all regions of the world. Try the your self you will loved and will be come a regular.

This is a smaller establishment with seating for maybe 20-30. It is a family owned and run Italian restaurant and the food and service is absolutely amazing.

Recommend to us by friends. We were not disappointed. Outstanding presentation and flavor. Great menu selection with something for everyone. We loved the lobster ravioli… best ever enjoyed. Sat near the wood oven and enjoyed watching the pizzas come out…. Great aromas…. Look great. Really good selection of Italian and California wines. Matt and his team were fantastic and went out of their way to make sure we enjoyed our meal and their ristorante. Highly recommend. Only advice is to make reservation. Inside seating for only 32-34, with additional sidewalk patio in summer months. Pricing very fair for simply fresh fare.

Amazing! Can't say enough good things about this place. 6 of us went here tonight for dinner. Everyone's meals were incredible. Service was top notch. Owner made us feel at home. Absolutely amazing experience all around! Thank you for such an unreal experience.

We went on a Friday night and we had reservations for 5:30. The restaurant itself is very small so you might want to call ahead for reservations. We ordered the prosciutto and arugula pizza along with the scallop , shrimp and mussel pasta. Unfortunately I wasn't a huge fan of the pizza, the pasta was nice and spicy but then again I just found it okay. The mussels and scallops were delicious I just wish the sauce had been different. Our waitress was super friendly, but unfortunately we did have to wait a while for our drinks and then also quite a while for our food. We were given for small pieces of bread and a tiny bowl of balsamic vinegar with olive oil with chickpeas and some veg all mixed in , it was tasty but very strong on the vinegar side. I would really like to go back to matteos and give them another try in the food department because I did see some meals that looked really good.

It was my first time visiting the restaurant. We were graciously greeted by the owner, and both he and his staff sought to ensure we were comfortable. Food was excellent and was of a high quality. Thanks again for a most excellent evening. I would definitely recommend!

Matteo’s is a breath of fresh air! It has the most amazing pizzas and pastas around and he even does TAKE OUT! The staff are courteous and friendly. The manager even remembers your name! The angliotti is heavenly. I definitely recommend.

Absolutely delicious food. We were so impressed with the service and friendly staff. The food was fresh and filled with flavour. It reminded us of our vacation in Italy. What a wonderful little gem in the heart of Welland. Definitely going back!

I went for dinner with my partner, we didn’t have reservations and it was busy yet as soon as we got there the staff was so welcoming and we were quickly seated. The service was so excellent that we came back the next day for lunch . We had pasta the first day and forgot to take pictures but the following day we got pizza and wine. All of the food is so fresh and made to order. I have not one complaint for the awesome place

I’ve been enjoying this restaurant for years. Chef Matt and his staff make dining here an absolute fantastic experience. Terry service is amazing and really compliments the meal every time. The pizzas are some of the best I’ve ever had including Chicago and NY. I always get the trappenese comes with spinach, red peppers, caramelize, onions, and really tasty Italian sausage, perfectly crisp. He’s a master with the wood fired oven. His pastas are fantastic. Last visit we shared carbonara with linguine and they serve a really fantastic fillet topped with blue cheese and garlic butter. They pair of those wonderful steak with sautéed asparagus, roasted potatoes, and candied carrots we took home a dessert it was a pastry with caramel sauce, and it was absolutely delicious, we always have a good time and a great meal there

My boyfriend and I had the honor of dining in Matteos a few times. Not only is the food phenomenal, but the service was incredible. The owner, Matteo, is very customer focused, and does his very best to make sure everyone is happy. The restaurant is pretty small, but the atmosphere is very uplifting. All staff are very welcoming, polite and attentive. They have an amazing wood oven, and the pizza comes out perfect every time!! The food is super fresh and always delicious and well portioned. Definitely one of a kind restaurant. They really put the fine, in fine dining! Would rate more than 5 stars if I could, it is the highest quality gourmet cuisine I have ever had. Will definitely be back!

This place is absolute hidden gem, every time we enter this establishment we are treated like royalty from the amazing staff to the wonderful owner who goes above and beyond to deliver and beautiful and memorable fine dining experience for all his guests. I’m not in Welland often but have a couple friends out that way who have raved about Matteo’s so I figured I’d give it a go. And they did not disappoint! Beautiful restaurant. Amazing staff. Alexis and Terry were attentive, personable and gave us some great recommendations! Their service was impeccable along with the chefs outstanding food. Highly recommend Matteo’s to everyone! Will definitely be making the trip back! I don’t post reviews but this one definitely warranted a review!

My 94 year old aunt and I just had the most lovely time at Matteo's. The server was so kind and helpful. Matteo, the chef/owner genuinely cares about his customers and makes sure that everything is of the highest quality. If I lived in the area, I would definitely be a regular. How fortunate is Welland to have such a quality restaurant. If you haven't already discovered Matteo's (and if you live here I can't believe you haven't eaten there yet), you will definitely want to go for a meal.

We found this Gem completely by surprise, and we were not disappointed. My partner and I arrived 10 minutes before close, and chef welcomed us in, I know it can be frustrating when people walk in last minute but we appreciated him allowing us to sit. Our server and chef made us feel at home and welcomed in every way. He came out to talk to us as we enjoyed our meal. We ordered the prosciutto and goat cheese app, and the anchovy pizza… WOW!! Outstanding! The food was fabulous and the the service was outstanding and hospitable. We will be back for a date night soon. Favourite dinner place in Welland! Family owned authentic Italian small restaurant with reasonable prices. Call ahead for reservations so your not disappointed waiting. Veal Parmigiana had so much flavour and cooked to perfection. This Chef Mateo loves what he does and it comes out in his meals. He should be charging a whole lot more for his dishes but Shhh, don’t tell him 😉

From the beginning of our experience to the end it was the best dining experience we have ever had. The food was phenomenal. The atmosphere was cozy and personal. The chef and staff the most welcoming and had the best personal touches I've ever experienced. The whole evening exceeded our expectations! This is a must try restaurant!
