Mixed review. Cute place with an old fashioned vibe. Free pie slice with meal on Thursdays. Chicken fried chicken, western hamburger and chicken fried steak were good. Mashed potatoes and fries were good, green beans were ok, the cabbage was awful (slightly steamed with no flavoring) and the corn had no flavor. The rolls were good but cold. The coffee was weak but hot. Service was awful. Seriously awful. Our waitress never smiled, was terse and bordered on rude. (Do you have vanilla creamer? “Not much”. ) Each interaction with her seemed to inconvenience her. I could almost feel her rolling her eyes. We saw her once during our meal - when she delivered the salads 15 minutes after the main dishes were served. She was unable to tell us which pies were available. (She said it was confusing.) She brought (and left) 3 carafes of coffee (on a small table) as we ordered 3 cups of coffee. One cup she brought had a large lipstick print. She was so bad I am not going to write her name in this review. I’ve never had service that was this totally awful. Everyone at our table was irritated by the complete lack of professionalism.

Nice batch of people. We all had a hankering for pie and they were deliciously displayed on the racks when you walk in. Not wanting to just dive into pie, we ordered entrees, and they were decent enough. But when the pie came around, it was the funkiest tasting stuff. My lemon meringue, which was 90% meringue reeked of putrid saltiness and gamey meat. Meringue actually means calf foam or slobber, so it just might've been very authentic. My wife, who ordered the chocolate creme, spit hers out. She said hers tasted as one would think food falling into a sink full of dirty dishwater would taste like. My daughter liked her apple cobbler just fine. We paid for it all and tipped well be because the service was good.. and wasn't their fault about the pie, it's whoever was baking the stuff in the kitchen.

14 minutes just to get a glass of water. Ordered the country biscuits and gravy. I ordered it with the two sausage links. One sausage link was great The other one was like a Slim Jim, hard and dry. Girlfriend ordered the same thing except with bacon and ordered the bacon crispy and came out barely cooked. After spending 25 minutes waiting for food we were getting ready to leave when the food came to the table. Dust all over everything and looks like the ventilation system hadn't been cleaned in years. Service was slow and not once did anybody come by and see how we were doing.

Thursday is a great day to try this place out. They're famous for pies, and you get a free piece of pie with your meal on Thursday. I recommend the sliced brisket, although the whipped potatoes and brown gravy that come with it were uninspired. Onion petals make a nice side (not so heavy and greasy as onion rings can be). I had the coconut meringue pie and it was fantastic. The service was attentive and unhurried. It's a great place to linger, but if you're in a rush they bring your pie to-go.

I was sadly disappointed. I'd ate at Spears a few years ago and was very pleased. My experience on 1-27-23 was not great. Our waitress was very nice but couldn't remember much. Our food wasn't the greatest. I had the beef tips and noodles. Meat was very tender but had a funny taste. Way to much pepper also. My friend had the steak and shrimp. She said the steak was not very tasty but shrimp was good. The peanut fudge pie was ok, the coconut cream was not the greatest and the crust was way to thick. My strawberry rhubarb pie was excellent. Prices are very reasonable. We will not be going back.

I was with a group of 8 last Saturday around 10:30. I gave my debit card to the waitress who promptly brought it back and told me she couldn’t run my card. I took my bill and paid cash up front. I looked at my online banking and they did run my card and took my cash. The manager was very nice and returned my money back.within 10 minutes. I normally don’t look at my account daily or I might have never would caught it. Shame on you Spears. We won’t be back ever.

It is always a pleasure coming here for brunch or dropping by to grab some pies for special occasions, events, or celebrations. I really enjoy the home styled brunch cooking with the fried chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans, corn bread, macaroni and cheese, bread pudding, and all of the different slices of pies you can select from. The staff is very friendly and always welcoming. The larger the group, the longer the wait time. I would recommend keeping your party size 6 or less to avoid the long wait times. The holidays are coming up and they sell ready to go Thanksgiving meals to accommodate those that prefer not to cook. I’ll be back soon to grab some pies for these holiday feasts too. There’s so many great options for pies too. I’m like a kid in a candy store, but with pies. 🥧

The buffet dinner was good. The fried chicken was moist and good. The mashed potatoes and gravy was good. The macaroni and cheese was dried out. It was definitely not creamy. The corn and green beans were good. For dessert I had a lemon meringue pie and it was alright. The service was ok. If they had a bit better service and there macaroni and cheese was creamy I probably would of given them a 4 star rating.

Absolutely the best Hot Roast Beef Sandwich I have ever ate. I started eating them about 1976 and never have I had one with the meat chunks pilled an inch thick. Potatoes in the lower bottom, sandwich on each side cut into with brown gravy smothering it all. 😋 yum. And the homemade pies are out of this world.

Labor day lunch, it was quiet. The wait for food time was to long. Chicken fried chicken was the thinnest I have ever had. Who got my other half ? Flavor was okay, to much breading. Very little gravy. Iced tea not fresh or a bad lemon. I have had better here, that's what frustrates me. I expected what I used to get food wise, raise the price but don't make me not want to come back. Other restaurants have raised their prices so raise yours. People deserve a good place, and you have provided that in the past.

I love the pie selection! Apple, Dutch Apple, Blueberry, Coconut Cream, Cheesecake and many more!

Four and a half star pie. We got chocolate meringue and peanut butter fudge. They were lighter than expected and delicious. $6 for two.

Let me start by saying Thursdays are FREE PIE a day! Get a slice of pie with any entree. Very comfortable and clean family restaurant! Service is fast, friendly and very attentive! I had the Thursday special of smothered steak with salad. Salad was cold and crisp. Would like to have had some croutons . The smothered steak was simply delicious, it was a lightly bread cube steak smothered in mushroom gravy with a side of mashed potatoes! Served piping hot and fresh. I chose the Dutch apple pie and the flavor was so delicious!

Clean place with a lovely atmosphere. The food was fine, not bad or bland just nothing special or memorable. Granted, they're famous for their pies and they looked delicious we didn't partake. Everything was cooked properly and to our specifications. Our waitress was what really killed the experience and rating. Short attitude and only checked on us once, possibly because we were a younger crowd and this is very easily a senior dominated place (the other two tables in our view she had lively conversation and visited them often). The table across from us wasn't bussed the entire time which I found odd considering they weren't too busy, maybe 1 party of 8 and a few couples at tables. Overall, its not a bad place to eat, but it isn't a diamond in the rough people should try at least once.

The atmosphere is really nice and it is quiet! The food is really good. I got chicken strips with a side of onion petals. I would definitely recommend getting both. The chicken was very juicy and tender! The service was a bit slow, but not to the point of being a problem. The pie slices are pretty large and they were tasty! I definitely plan on going back.

There are sooo many things to choose from but what I chose was great. My only complaint is that the prime rib was dry. The garlic salad was great. The pot pie was homemade and delicious and the different breads were great and were hugely sized pieces...

Decent prices for a nice atmosphere! I'll definitely come back to try Sunday brunch. I would love if Spears would be more conscious of gluten and carb sensitivity. Maybe have something on the menu the waitress can recommend for people like us. I ended up asking for a grilled chicken entree which was not on the menu, and my daughter had a burger from the menu without the bun. No Gluten Free soup option that day. 😟 The grilled chicken was preserved and rubbery (no wonder it's not on the menu!) But otherwise we all were satisfied except my son who was still hungry even though he'd added a salad to his entree. The future is in large platters with fresh veggies, and clean meat without gluten or chemicals. The Meddy's model of ordering at the counter before being served seated could help bring in more customers. If Spears could offer this at these family friendly prices, we'd be regulars!
