First impressions are everything, other than the smell of cigarette smoke, they exceeded my expectations! Looks can be deceiving. Who would've guessed such great food was being served inside building that doesn't really look like a restaurant. This place has a mom and pop feel to it, not over extravagant but family oriented. Great service and amazing food!!! The give you Large portions of food with no lack!. Chicken strips are very large, juicy, tender and full of flavor. I've got my money's worth plus some. So for this reason this place gets a 5 🌟!

We had a great visit to this hole in the wall from the days of old. The staff was personable and courteous. The chicken gizzards were definitely my favorite. The chicken fried steak was good as well. The cheeseburger was delicious along with fries. When trying the mini corn dogs, they were good as any other corn dogs. We really look foward to returning again.

Big Ernie's is a hole in the wall diner that serves food that tastes as though grandma is in the kitchen cooking. I had the Belly Buster deluxe. It is a 1 pound patty with lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, onion, bacon and cheese. It was absolutely phenomenal. The restaurant gives off a vibe of old school diner vibe with a homey vibe. The staff are friendly and the food seems priced well for the portions you get. Overall I would most likely eat there again. P. S. Get one of their famous brownies they are awesome. 🤤

The steak was cooked just like I asked. I thought the mushroomed were little skimpy and over cooked. Green beans had great flavor. Hard to beat there country fried steak if your not on Keyto

We came here after raving reviews from our local FB group. We were promptly seated (10 min). They were busy, all tables were full. Our server was nice and was hustling taking care of all the tables. I ordered the lumber Jack and my husband ordered their Chicken Fried Steak after hearing about it and seeing all these pictures posted. I switched my hash browns out to fries. I’m kinda mixed feelings about the food. The chicken fried steak was ok sized, not huge taking up the entire plate like others have posted. My husband removed his hash browns to a small plate so he can season his eggs. The real disappointment was the fries. They were soggy, oily and not crunchy whatsoever. The were undercooked! We also ordered onion rings to share, but those too were not good. Thick batter, soaking up oil and not crispy😕

You want down home cooking that is awesome and good priced with awesome customer service this is the place. I highly recommended you visit this place. The food is some of the best I've had in years and the portions are huge. I garentee you won't be disappointed. Reminds me of an old fashioned dinner. The atmosphere is do peaceful. 10 outta 10 for Fat Ernies Servicedog friendly place as well. 😉 was told main cook Chris is the man here so to spot light him. Iquote.( if Chris is sick the restaurant is closed. We also had Biscit and gravey the following day and it took me back to Grandma's home cooked. Ya'll gotta check it out people. Enjoy.

No frills family dining, food was the star! All hand made fresh! Good old fashion fried chicken like grandma made! Brown gravy you could put on a flipflop and eat! Home made New York style cheesecake 3 inches thick! Chicken fried steak fork tender!

One of the best experiences I've had sense moving to Wichita about a year and a half ago. The servers there seemed to really enjoy being there and all seemed rather friendly. The food was very good for the price. My wife and I both got stakes and very much enjoyed them. The cooking was a little inconsistent (we both like rare) but not bad overall. There was a slight mix-up on one of our appetizers (chicken livers instead of gizzards) but the mistake was noticed and handled very quickly without me even having to say anything. All and all a very nice experience. We will be coming back for sure! Edit: my wife and I went back and had yet another wonderful time. Just wanted to say thank you to everyone there. Great food, great service.

Food was good, except we got chicken fried chicken and the crust was soggy and chicken was tough . Mashed taters were delicious. Our waitress did not seem interested in checking in through out meal. Our family has been coming to Fat Ernie's for years and this was just a subpar experience. We will go back and try something different next time.

Man oh man, this was good food! I had fried potatoes that were perfectly cooked with diced onions and seasoned well. The chicken fried steak was so big that i could not finish it! The okra was fried well, also. This was all you can eat by the way. The food was hot and, very tasty. I can't wait to come back and try more food. I saw this big chef salad that the next table ordered and I'm excited to try that.

Stopped for a late lunch and the place was hopping. I had the chicken fried steak all you can eat with mashed potatoes, green beans, along with a house salad and roll. I was only able to finish one serving. Slot of food at a good price (especially if you have more than one plate.). I'm glad we stopped by. The server was very friendly.

I have eaten here over the span of about ten years. It has remained consistent in quality and service. It is there typical roadside care with above average food. I eat and critique all over the US. This is the A #1 home town food.

Old school dinner experience 100%, parking was a bit rough, but I did get there a peak lunch rush. The food was great I need to go back during the week while they have there all you can eat specials going on! The pies were fantastic! I had the chocolate and they have many more I want to try. The staff was great, and everyone was super friendly. Food didn't take long to come out. I had enough time to enjoy the salad. I would have gotten an appetizer, but other dinners talked me out of it since the main course was going to be fairly big. They were right lol. I would not have finished everything if I had gotten an appetizer. I look forward to going back 😁

We went on a Thursday around 6pm. It was pretty busy but we were told to seat ourselves and we found a nice booth. The place seemed fairly clean with big signs describing the daily specials. The waitress was very nice and kept our water glasses filled. They were out of most pies, so I got the dutch apple pie which seemed like a store bought one with a dense crust and the usual apple filling. The special that day was all-you-can-eat chicken fried steak, so 3 out of the 4 of us ordered it. It was very bland, had a lot of breading, and the meat was like ground beef. The lack of flavor had us pouring salt and pepper in it but it did not seem to help, even the white gravy was flavorless. They may have been flavorless due to the all-you-can-eat special requiring them to be made fast, but overall it was a big disappointment. Our 4th person got a burger and she was happy with it, so there was probably better things on the menu. For the sides we had fried okra which was good, but my husband said the fried mushrooms were bland and burnt. The fries were good, but needed salt. Overall we might go back just to see if it was a fluke, but it was not a great experience.

Great food and prices! I ate on my dinner for three days! My wife and I came in with our service dogs and the folks sitting beside me turned their bodies toward us and wouldn’t stop staring, as if they’d lived under a rock their entire lives. I don’t feel like this place attracts the highest caliber of folks but the venue in of itself is great! Highly recommend!
