EDIT:
The
Retreat's
response
below
my
review
is
a
token
gesture
on
their
part.
When
I
attempted
to
contact
them
three
times
last
summer
about
how
unacceptable
it
was
that
they
made
three
women
clean
the
common
room
after
holding
the
bachelorette
party,
I
was
continuously
met
with
a
voicemail.
They
lack
the
spine
and
ownership
to
face
up
to
what
were
abhorrent
decisions.
Once
again,
I
cannot
be
forceful
enough
in
telling
you
to
please
look
elsewhere.

We
moved
in
to
The
Retreat
at
Seven
Bridges
at
the
height
of
the
COVID-19
pandemic
in
July
2020
from
downtown
Chicago
into
a
one
bedroom,
one
bathroom
unit.
We
were
given
a
virtual
tour
of
our
soon-to-be
unit
by
Raphael.
As
my
wife
called
him
on
the
day
of
our
virtual
tour,
she
said
her
name.
He
reacted
confusedly
-
she
then
said
that
we
had
an
appointment
today,
to
which
he
abruptly
responded,
"No,
we
didn't!"
He
proceeded
to
double
check
his
system
and,
lo
and
behold,
we
did
have
a
reservation.
"It
just
didn't
take
in
their
system
for
some
reason,"
he
said,
"and
this
never
happens."
This
was
the
beginning
of
what
would
become
a
painful
saga
and
familiar
refrain
living
there
for
only
one
year.
We
had
21
maintenance
requests
within
the
first
two
months
living
there.
There
were
several
issues
that,
had
preventative
maintenance
been
done
prior
to
our
moving
in,
could
have
been
avoided.
There
was
even
shaved
facial
hair
caked
in
toothpaste
on
the
uppermost
shelf
in
our
bathroom.
We
had
black
mold
in
our
bathroom
that
necessitated
a
complete
repair
and
new
allergy
medication
for
me.
At
every
turn,
we
were
met
with
open
skepticism
by
the
front
office
and
outright
denial.
"This
never
happens"
was
a
phrase
we
heard
often.
And
that
became
harder
and
harder
to
believe
as
time
went
on
and
our
maintenance
requests
piled
up.
Our
dryer
had
to
be
replaced,
our
drywall
in
the
bathroom
was
knocked
out,
and
there
were
dried
paint
specks
all
over
our
bathroom
and
kitchen
floors.
Raphael,
Beth,
and
Irene
-
the
property
manager
-
were
all
complicit
in
being
negligent
toward
and
about
us.
They
constantly
placated
blame
and
did
not
take
ownership
over
any
issue
we
had.
And
when
my
wife
and
her
friend
-
a
fellow
resident
-
threw
a
bachelorette
party
for
another
friend
in
the
clubhouse's
common
space,
Raphael
even
brought
in
the
mop
and
told
them
they'd
be
forced
to
clean
the
space.
In
short,
my
wife
and
I
could
not
be
stronger
in
our
telling
you
to
steer
clear
of
this
property
at
all
costs.
We
picked
up
and
moved
out
after
only
one
year
-
we
gladly
decided
to
take
on
all
that
comes
with
a
move
this
past
July
2021
(one
week
before
our
wedding,
no
less)
than
live
there
another
year.
