Padang Vegan Damai, nestled in the food court area of Malioboro Mall, offers a pleasant surprise with its affordable pricing for a mall restaurant and twist by presenting Minang cuisine in a vegan-friendly manner. Despite the common association of Minang dishes with meat, this restaurant creatively adapts them to a plant-based palate. The Nasi Padang Rendang, which I tried, exceeded expectations with its generous portion, abundant fillings, and authentic flavors. Remarkably, the rendang had a convincing texture resembling real meat, providing a unique and enjoyable experience. The owner's friendly and informative approach added to the overall positive impression of this affordable and distinct Minang-vegan restaurant within the mall.

A nice vegetarian stall inside Malioboro Mall food court (mall entrance is next to Novotel Suites hotel). Great location and serving no allium. I ordered the Nasi Kari Padang (curry rendang fried rice) and a separate side dish of rendang. The rice dish is OK, more like fried rice but freshly fried so it’s served hot. However, the rendang dish is cold (pre-prepared) and side dish portion is very small, was expecting bigger, hehe. The rendang tastes is OK. Great option for vegan/vegetarian while travelling to Jogja. ***added on 30 Jan 2023*** went back for their Nasi Padang Jamur (mushrooms). It was so delicious that I had it twice - for lunch and dinner! Price was super friendly at IDR 18,000! Definite must try for vegetarian/vegan.

It's located in a very convenient place in Malioboro Mall. The tricky part is that the food court can only be accessed from the entry next to Novotel Malioboro. I ordered paket nasi rendang that's made of soya. Super delish. I loved every part on my plate. It is quite cheap too, 25k. I recommend this if you are in Malioboro area.

I absolutely LOVE this place and am still somewhat in shock that it actually exists!! I’m currently studying in Padang and my two vegetarian parents came to meet up with me in Yogyakarta for the holidays. For the past few days I’ve been yearning to show them Padang food, but due to the amount of meat in traditional Padang food, I couldn’t figure out how. That’s when I stumbled upon this gem. The food was delicious and the Bapak who served us was so nice! It was also cheap and 3 paket meals and 3 drinks from across the food court came to 99,000 IDR. I would highly recommend the jengkol rendang which has an authentic rendang flavour traditional to Padang food and also allows you to try jengkol, a vegetable unique to Indonesia!! This place can be a little tricky to find, but you need to go through an entrance to Malioboro Mall to the left of the Novotel entrance to find it. Once inside the mall, go up to the very top floor and head to the food court. It’s the first shop on the left. Do yourself a favour and check it out!!

It was a happy surprise! I ate Paket Nasi Rendang in this resto. Rendang is normally made with beef, so I hadn’t tried before. It was soooo delicious. Definitely I will come back to eat delicious vege Padang again!

The food was good! I love padang food and am glad that I found a vegan version! It might be too spicy for those who are not used to spicy foods. When we were there, the service was a bit slow because there was only one person there.

Seriously tasty food, the area was quiet and peaceful too. As per the other reviews, it's not easy to find. I basically walked all the way to the entrance of the Novotel Suites Building before I saw a tiny sign pointing to the Malioboro Mall entrance (photo attached). The Mall security guard kindly directed me to the food court from there.

Vegan Padang at its finest. This is the excellent place for anyone who wants to try padang food in a vegan version. I'm trying the rendang, and it's delicious, it tastes like real meat, but it's vegan. Also, the price is really affordable, you just need 10k to get one rendang. They also have a clean place and food. It's definitely worth it, and I hope they open another one. I will most certainly return.

Since I switched to Vegan diet I was missing some of delicious Indonesian food. Here they have them all in plant based version... And delicious ! You can also buy different products to cook at home. My "NON VEGAN" friends also loved it. High light RENDANG: I don't know How they can make it so similar to the real one using Mushrooms. Highly recommend!!!

Yeeeeeee haw this is some delicious vegan Indonesian food! And so cheap! 😍 Definitely a must if you are in Yogyakarta. Unfortunately it’s located in the worst designed mall I’ve ever seen. Basically the mall is split into 2 and the entrance is located next to Novotel. Once inside go to the 3rd floor and you’ll see the food court. It’s a shame because the other side of the mall is so much busier and this one was completely empty.

Took abit of finding, this place is located on the 3rd floor behind the novotel hotel and inaccessible from the main front malioboro mall area. plant based menu in local flavours. so tasty, delicious.

The whole place looked very unassuming so I was told to keep my expectations low, but the curry was good, the Tempe was good, the potato thing was good, and the tahu was good, even the chilli was good. All these at 20k or so per pax. Definitely 5 stars in my vegan opinion.

Delicious food with authentic Padang flavors. I came here with a local Indonesian and they also confirmed it was amazing. We both ordered a second dish of nasi padang rendang. Only complaint was the rendang was not heated up.

The food mall is now separate from the shopping mall. You enter next to nova hotel. Food is good nothing to rave about. 2 different lots of music playing at once ☹️

Following a plant based diet i have found it a bit of a struggle here in Indonesia. So much amazing food but majority is meat based. I gound this place and Wow. Food was amazing if you're plant based give it a go.
