This windmill allows you to go upstairs to oversee the village, the entry costs 5.5 euros. I think it was a special experience, though the tour was rather short.

A must-do experience if you visit the Netherlands, go inside a windmill! We got there early, just before the tour buses. This particular windmill did not get too busy. You can go inside and climb right out on the deck when the windmill is doing its thing. Very cool on a beautiful day. Plus, it's amazing to see and hear the inside...

Great place to go had a lot of shops to look around and the windmills were great and not too expensive to go inside the windmills.

Very interesting and highly entertaining working windmill. The wooden machineries inside are an attraction in itself especially when working - definetely worth the 5.5 eur entrance fee. Get on the top floor outside, see the panorama and maybe you'll be lucky to actually see how the windmill is rotated into the wind Very crowded in the afternoon - so if you get there when is crowded, just pass on the the last mills - There are almost no turists visiting those.

We choose to visit the area in the early morning and it was a good decision because at 9:20 a.m when we arrived there were some cars and few buses; after one and a half hours becoming extremely crowded (being also the Saturday of the extended weekend of May 1)

Awesome place to enter during your visit to Zanse Schans. You can see how the windmill produces paint powder with its gears system. It’s also possible to climb to the top and enjoy the amazing views. The tickets cost 5,50 per adult and 3,50 kids. There’s also a small shop for souvenirs inside.

The most interesting windmill in Zaanse Schans, definitely worth the visit. Seems to be the most popular though, the place was too crowded on a Sunday afternoon. They should regulate the number of visitors coming in. Beware staircases inside are steep and I saw many elderly people struggling with it. If you are coming with kids, keep on eye on them. Also on windy days be careful not to get too close to the windmill sails on the observation deck because they are turning very quickly 😅

Very cool exhibit of what it looks like inside a windmill. You also learn about how it operates with education video. Definitely go outside on the deck and feel the power of the wind!!

This was a good windmill with information about how it makes the paint. You can climb up to the next level and see some good views.

Super cool windmill! Loved that we were able to climb up and outside to see the windmill up close and personal! What an experience! The little shop inside offered hot cocoa for sale and it was delicious and hit the spot on a cold rainy day!

The whole area is amazing, cute, romantic, a very nice walk all around. Can easily get there in 17min from Amst Centraal and then around 12min by foot from the train station. The entrance is free, you pay to visit certain mills and exhibitions. P.S. Do not buy the €1 coffee at Alberts shop place. Albert would cry if he ever knew such thing is selling in his shop. Disgusting coffee

One of must see Amsterdam attraction. You can take bus 319 from amsterdam central and it will send you directly in front of it. No entrance fee. The magnet here seems cheaper than amsterdam town. The toilet as usual need to pay 1 euro per use. Go as early as possible to avoid crowds

Interesting to see this working mill, its moving parts from the groundfloor and upstairs. A very cute movie can be watched about a day of paint mill. The view from the terrace is awesome

An interesting experience of windmill. They allow you to go upstairs on your own risk. It was great to see inside of a windmill and how centuries ago they must be working. View from deck above is beautiful view of Zaan river. Over all area around has windmills(monuments) and you can imagine how this area would have been centuries ago. Ticket - 5.5 euros Not all windmills in the area were open when we went but the walk across all the windmills was a lifetime experience.

De Kat was originally an oil mill but was rebuilt after a fire and is since a chalk mill. The chalk is combined with pigments to make paints. We had the I Amsterdam Card so we could go in for free, otherwise I think it's 2 or 3 euros to enter, but it's really worth it. You can climb up the steep stairs to go into the room with gears, and from there out onto the deck. From there you can see the blades (sails) upclose and also take a nice panoramic photo of other nearby mills. Definitely don't miss.

Fascinating to see a real, working windmill up close, from inside, from outside on the balcony! Plus a great place to get pictures! You have to go see them.
