Staff not nice, Very noisy, therefore no atmosphere whatsoever in the hostel, with people being borderline disrespectful to one another. Disgusting hostel. My sheets weren’t clean, the bathrooms - if you can call them bathrooms - were the worst I’ve seen in a while with mold and dirt everywhere. The shower was just basically a tube sticking out of the wall. Barely any plugs worked. I ended up changing hostel after a night. I do not recommend this hostel, there are much nicer places to stay in Istanbul.

Location is in old part of city - near by general city sights, but so far away from public transport. Very noisy in the evening. Staff super friendly 😀 Rooms not perfect, but ok. Breakfast - one egg, half of bread with spread and coffee (not enough) Good experience, but never come back

I stayed here for 2 nights on my first ever visit to Istanbul. Location was perfection! I wanted to see all the touristic sights which were in close proximity to this hostel, and I didn't have to lose my time and money on transportation. 10/10 would recommend! Everything worked great and was clean, stuff very helpful.

The location was perfect if you don't like music outside you should consider other places. I like music so that was perfect. The man in the late shift is so kind, he explains everything with the best attitude and chai. Breakfast is delicious!! Just clean a little bit more the bathroom.

In general, I don’t like staying in Sultanahmet — the whole place feels like a big tourist trap. However, only two backpacker places there were always trustworthy — and while the first one had already gone away (RIP “Orient”), “Sultan” is still standing and provides decent services. Staff speaks good English and really helpful, the whole place is clean. Minus points — like in majority of Istanbul’s old houses, there are no elevators and also the terrace with carpets, which I liked before, was gone :((

Very very good location in the hard of Istanbul! Also very cheap and for that I recommend to go! But the rooms a bit small, old and ugly. The breakfast is okay but very simple. Overall I recommend to go here when you visit Istanbul for just a view days but if you're really looking for a good hostel I would recommend something else.

Nice hostel in Fatih area, very close to Ayasofia Mosque and many other sites, and close to metro station. The rooms are small but enough, tye service is very good, the staff is helpful and friendly, the restaurant also nice and cosy. The reception can help you with many things and arrange tours or taxis pick-up for you. Highly recommended especially for solo travellers 👍🏼

Amazing location, best people and clean environment. Close by clubs so loud music may disturb you but it doesn't bother me after the whole day travel

It was extremely nice to be a guest at Sultan Hostel. The room that we stayed in was nice, clean and comfortable. Room with a breakfast is always a win, and the meal itself + coffee in the morning was delicious. The reception staff speaks English and is very helpful. Location is top-notch - 5m walk to Hagia Sophia & Topkapi, a tad more to the Blue Mosque. Nearest tram station is also nearby. Thanks guys for hosting us! You rock!

I would definitely recommend Sultan Hostel if you are on a budget and travelling to Istanbul. The hostel manager is very helpful and kind. The location is excellent since it is only a couple minutes walk from major tourist sites and the tram station. One downside is that it is located near restaurants so it can get loud at night but this isn't a problem if you just bring earplugs. Only other issue is that 2 bedsheets in my dorm had old stains on them but I asked the manager to give us new sheets and he helped. They have women only rooms each with three bunk beds. There is a small locker where you can store your valuables. For bigger bags there is a luggage room which all guests can enter so I would recommend buying a padlock or storing it under your bed. There is free breakfast provided but as you can see from the photos it is not that filling so I would recommend getting breakfast elsewhere. There is also free Wi-Fi though I did not use it. There is an excellent view from the roof of the sea. The hostel is open at all hours and so is their phone line. I would 100% come back and stay here.

The hostel is great! The staff is so helpful always looking after us. The location is amazing, near the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sofia. Breakfast is super good, with tomatoes, cheese, bread, coffee and everything you need to start you day. You can get here from tram very easily. You should definitely book this hostel!

Nice and proper hostel. Friendly staff, good location, clean and very friendly on a budget. Even comes with breakfast included. Only downsides are that the rooms on the street-side are somewhat noisey in the evenings due to all the noise and commotion from the bars outside. The noise is tolerable when closing up the windows, but it can get really hot sometimes. The wi-fi is fast enough, but connection frequently drops out every few minutes for no apparent reason. Apart from that, i can only be very positive about my stay here.

This hostel has great placement to be in walking distance to tons of sight seeing destinations like Hagia Sofia, Basilica Cistern, Tokapi Palace, lots of museums etc. And it's on a very busy touristy road. There's a huge array of food and shopping choices right nearby. The hostel itself is old but clean. For it's basic utilities I feel it's well priced. The waiters on the connected restaurant are charming and friendly.

It is decent for a hostel. Restroom and shower look clean when I examined them. The shared ones I mean. I stayed in the double room with my own bathroom. I have to say it is very Spartan. Room is small. The sheets seem clean. The bathroom shower water falls on same area as the foot of toilet, and there's no soap provided. I was hoping they would give you liquid soap in the private rooms... The other thing I didn't particularly care about is the bar restaurant downstairs. It is downright American. Plays grunge all night. Lots of young people doing what young people do in group settings. Enough said. Plus the price is a bit high for Istanbul. I suppose I should appreciate the ability to go down and grab a drink..
