Friendly staff, free tea and coffee. Beds are alright and it is relatively clean. However, the common area isn't great and neither is the kitchen. With a fair few hostels at the same price, it might not be the best, but it is a fine option.

It was OK and bearable because I spent it there only to sleep. The bathrooms are dirty (there is hair everywhere, and some surfaces were obviously never cleaned). The room I got was as expected. No AC although on the site it said there would be one. My friend booked a single room (which is much more expensive) and had to sleep in a dorm room the first night ALTHOUGH we asked about it 10x. The guy was only interested in the money. No money was given back to us. They said they ASSUMED we would want to sleep in the same room 😂🥲. All in all- I would NOT go there again.

Review: I recently had the dubious pleasure of staying at this hotel, and I must say it was one of the worst experiences of my life. Everything about this hotel was unhygienic and inhumane. Upon entering my room, I was greeted by a strong smell of mold and dampness. The carpets were stained and dirty, and there were visible signs of neglect throughout the room. The bathroom was even worse, with a filthy toilet that hadn't been properly cleaned in ages. To make matters worse, the bedding was stained and had a foul odor. It was clear that the sheets and pillowcases hadn't been changed in a long time. I felt disgusted and uncomfortable sleeping in such conditions. The overall cleanliness of the hotel was appalling. The hallways were littered with trash, and the common areas were dirty and unkempt. It seemed like no effort was made to maintain even the basic standards of hygiene. Furthermore, the staff were incredibly rude and unhelpful. They showed no empathy or concern for the guests' well-being. When I brought up the issues with cleanliness, they brushed me off and refused to address the problems. I strongly advise against staying at this hotel. It is a complete disgrace and lacks even the most basic standards of cleanliness and human decency. Save yourself the misery and find a different place to stay.

I generally live in US as a Turkish expat and couple of times a year travel all over the world. I stayed here with my foreign friends for 16 days. My stay was nice and enjoyable. Most friendly and helpful receptionist ever, so lovely and great first impression of hostel. Very close proximity to biggest and most popular city square and to the bosphorus seaside. Checkin process is very easy and fast. It is small but clean hostel having common area. All staffs are very polite and friendly. They always keep smiling and ready to help you. There is a a nice kitchen where you can prepare your own food and they have free unlimited tea and coffee. It’s certainly located to many supermarkets is just around 200 feet’s away. They have fast speed free wifi. I highly recommend you guys to try at least 1 time. If you wanna feel and smell the history and the heart of the city that never sleeps, try this place. I left a long comment here cos after a precious attitude and hospitality, I felt indebted to these nice people so I wanted to leave a long one here. PLS TRY THIS PLACE if you prefer sincerity at your accomodation.

Never go there, The room are like a prison and the staff is stubborn. They only take cash which is weird for a hostel and if you try to solve any issues you feel like you need to negotiate with a rock. The room are humid with mold on the floor and on the walls. Anyways don't look at other review and go somewhere else please !

Very bad hostel! The operators seem nice, but try to rip you off at every turn to make extra money. The condition of the bathroom and room is really bad (dirty, stuffy and also mold) and it is unpleasant to stay there.

I had a good time staying in this hostel despite the fact that the hostel room and furniture being less reliable. There’s no ladders to climb up to the upper bunk bed and the toilet was in need of serious repair. It smelled unpleasant and sometimes the water didn’t get the *thing* flushed completely. However, there were two good things about staying here. First, the hostel staff were very friendly and helpful. They would always make sure I was okay and felt comfortable. He recommended good places to visit and eat. He even helped me to order food from his favorite restaurant and the food was so delicious. The food I had at the time became my favorite Turkish food. Moreover, the experience of meeting other travelers from different walks of life in the hostel was stimulating culture. Second, there was a kitchen available to be used and the coffee and tea were free. That being said, it’s good for travelers on budget.

Cheap hostel, not bad but not great. Bathrooms were really dirty, stuff wasn’t very nice and our room was very cold and a bit dirty. We tried way better hostels in Istanbul, but if you don’t care about these little things go for it, it is very cheap and super well located!

The hostel is in a terrible condition. There's no natural light, a musty smell, everything seems on the verge of breaking. The bathroom was dirty and flooded all the time and you couldnt lock the door. The entire place needs renovation and is not worth the money at all.

This hostel seems to be very popular among travelers for its low price and a good location right near Taksim Square. Probably because of this it has become difficult for the staff to keep it clean and in a good condition. What we experienced was creaky bunk beds with broken stairs, bathrooms that could be cleaner. The Wi-Fi in some rooms is quite slow. Also, in 6-bed room there was only a 3-plug extension socket. However, the staff was always ready to help.

Cold dirty rooms with a think blanket. A couple of people left whilst we were there and the person running the gaff didn't change the pillowcases or sheets, just sprayed it with some fabric freshener. Bed bugs from my bed and another friend had been bitten in a different room too. Bathrooms dirty. Guy from reception came in every day asking lots of questions like "has this person gone?" Pointing to a bed then did the same with another bed. "What's your name?" Every day he would ask when he was checking his list. Was unresponsive with me (a male) but over-friendly with my partner (a woman). Cleaner was very friendly though.

Don’t go there, The pictures are fake and the rooms are in a very miserable situation. There are bed bugs and spiders everywhere and when we complained to the manager he kicked us out from the hostel. They are very rude and disrespectful! He was insulting me in Turkish and English because I refused to go out before finding another hotel or hostel. It was just one day before new year’s eve. They are intimidating guests and using many methods to make them scared like faking police calls etc. That was the worst experience in my life my holidays went to a nightmare

Very nice place with a great location near Taksim square and the big shopping street in Istanbul. It was very clean. The hostel fit our needs and we had an overall good experience. Our only complaints were that the wifi didn't work well on top floor.

The hostel has a very good location with everything import right around the corner. The pricing is very fair too. On top on that, the host was extremely nice, helped us around and really made an effort to be a nice host overall. Free wifi was working perfectly, warm water and a heater were there aswell. Highly recommended for a cheap trip to istanbul!!

The staff didn’t change the bed sheets after the previous guest. Dirt is everywhere. Awful stinky wc. Don’t you dare to sit at the table in the common place, like use the table. Administrator was completely impolite, after 10 minutes I sat there he came and told in a rude tone that I have my room. No tables, no even place to sit. Only old beds in a very bad condition, with sheets left after the previous guests. Just don’t. Come. Here.

Although located close to Taksim Square the hostel is very quiet at night and affordable. In this way it's perfect for people that enjoy spending majority of the day sightseeing and need a quiet place to recharge at night. Reception is around 24/7 and the staff is very friendly, helpful and accommodating. If the room is too cold at night it's possible to ask for a heater (free of charge). Additionally, the shared bathroom gets cleaned three times a day. Besides the heater, the staff creates a warm atmosphere, where travelers connect with each other and locals. Levanten hostel is a place to connect. Plus, Sheraz is fluent in multiple languages which might be helpful for someone who is nervous about a possible language barriere (Turkish, French, English, Spanish.. etc.). He even helped me to check in my flight during my last night at the hostel even tho I was convinced that the option wasn't available. Recommended! ☺️

It was very nice to stay there. Hosts are very helpful in every issue, I recommend you a cruise on Bosfor bay, it was great. Beds in room were comfortable, however the bathrooms needs repair. Overall we spent a week in Istanbul and this place is a perfect place as a starting point ane worth recommending.

Bad shape hostel, old, stinky, broken furniture, dirty. Not family friendly. Rooms were cold and dusty, lot of bugs at the corners, bed was joined with ducktape. Place is not like the pictures they show. Thin walls with polymere every sound goes through. There's only one bathroom with one shower per floor for 12 people. everything was dirty. Not hot water at the sink. broken windows and doors, no roof at the stairs. We had to find another place because inhuman conditions there.

The place is totally different from the pictures, the bathroom is shared and not clean ، the guest who shower first will get the hot water , the entrance has bad smell and almost no light, the furniture is very old and smelly, the rooms are very small and close to each other so you will be distrubted with any move from the other guests in the other rooms.

Perfect place to stay! It is mostly for young, international people but the atmosphere in the hotel is still peaceful and great to sleep and rest in! It is in a perfect location close to everything and inside the beautiful beautiful streets of Istanbul. The people that work there are so nice, I even had a breakfast with the manager of the hotel (which he cooked for his colleagues and invited me as well). I highly recommend the hotel for your stay in Istanbul, and the price is very low for what you get from the hotel and from the city!

Good location close to Taksim square, and good value for money. The kitchen is rather small but can do the job if you want to cook. The bathrooms (one on each floor) were a bit of a struggle as not being enough to avoid a crowd, but nothing too dramatic.

My friend and I stayed at Levanten Hostel for 4 nights. I really enjoyed my time here and met a lot of incredible and interesting people as well. The staff was polite and welcoming. The environment was clean and nice (including the rooms, bathrooms, showers, etc.) I saw that they cleaned everything at least once a day. The location of the hostel is quite convenient as it is near Taxim square and the metro station (as well as the famous Istiklal street). I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who is visitong Istanbul and wants to have some extra international intraction! The photos in Booking and other websites are not similar to what the place actually looks like, but I liked it anyway (I attached some of my own photos as well)

We reserved 3 nights at this hostel but we were late for the check in. They didn't let us check in and gave our room to someone else! They also refused to refund our money! So basically we just paid them for nothing! That's the definition of fraud. response to your reply: WE DID NOT CHECK IN 2 DAYS AFTER! Stop lying. Still it doesn't change the reality: We paid and were not allowed into the room! We were planning to stay a month actually! But the way you treat your customers is unfair!

  • 1/5 Hamza N. 7 months ago on Google • 1 review
It started off with an extremely long check-in process in the middle of the night, because they tried to charge us much more than what was promised, apparently adding unreasonable percentages due to using a credit card. Then the rooms. Filthy, sticky beds, mold in every corner and bedbugs in every bed. Bathrooms were disgusting, no lock on the door to our room, no keys either. Tap was leaking and didn’t work. AC couldn’t be turned on in extremely hot weather and we left at 5 am due to finding bedbugs in every bed and even in the sofa in the lobby. Do. Not. Go.

I recently stayed at a hostel and had an amazing experience. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, always willing to help with any questions or concerns. The facilities were clean and well-maintained, with comfortable beds and plenty of hot water in the showers. The location was also fantastic, with easy access to public transportation and many great restaurants and attractions within walking distance. Overall, I highly recommend this hostel to anyone looking for a comfortable, affordable, and enjoyable stay in the area The owner are very helpful even by mistake I book online with wrong booking date and he change the date free of charge
