Check-in was pleasant and the hosts are friendly. However, I tried really hard to focus on the positive aspects of this place, but they are cancelled out by the lack of maintenance and sad state of most furniture. Usually I would approach management first, but the state of disrepair speaks of deep rooted problems that won't be fixed by a mere mention to management. We have travelled far and wide throughout Southern Africa and this place needs some serious attention. Three out of 5 rooms had broken patio furniture. Rather remove the furniture and have no furniture than have broken furniture all over. The bathrooms were adequate but can't be described as clean. The kitchen was downright filthy, not due to recent use, but years of neglect. Think twice before you book. It is cheap for a reason. The WiFi was fast and reliable, thanks. Lovely surroundings.

I spent here two nights in June 2022. I am a budget backpacker and this was the cheapest place I could find in Bulawayo. I found it by browsing the google maps. Maybe it would be good to advertise on other sites also? Place was quite easy to find and the minibus connections to the center were good. I booked for a dorm ($15 per night) but received a single room, a pleasant surprise. I did not meet other travellers during my stay in Burkes'. Adam and all the workers were really nice and helped me with everything. My room was clean, the showers had hot water and the common kitchen was good - what else would a traveller need. Maybe the room could have had sockets for charging the phone but I charged my power bank in the kitchen successfully :)

Though a little far from the centre, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Burke's paradise. Not only were the dorm beds super affordable, the property was beautiful and well kept. With good wifi and very accommodative and hospitable hosts, I would definitely recommend this place.

This is a beautiful and serene place. Perfect for outdoor and wilderness lovers. The hosts are awesome.

Great place. Nice beds. Hot showers with great water pressure. Wifi was best in all of my African safari. I like the place. I like the staff. I’d recommend the place!

Wouldnt recommend. The facilities were very basic. Drippy showers and not that clean. The location is pretty and the pool is a plus, but i wouldnt stay here again.

I like the bushy part of these place , and they serve nice food .

Lovely cozy place with a lots of space and greenary that ensures privacy no matter how many people are there. The place did not disappoint. We were a large group of 35 but the water was warm through out. A small kitchen available with basic staff like a stove and a fridge which was just what we needed. Thankyou for hosting us! Super location! I give them all 5 stars because for that affordable price, they really maintain a good service. We a absolutely had no complaints

Literally a little piece of paradise. Hosts work hard to make sure you are comfortable. Lovely pool, hot showers, good wifi, comfortable beds. Part of the trip we spent in our own tents and not all guests are always considerate about noise levels, but host was very helpful.

A very clean backpackers lodge with good rooms and lovely bathrooms. The gardens are green and the swimming pool well looked after. The hosts were warm and welcoming. I highly recommend it for travellers passing through Bulawayo

Awesome place and very good hospitality!

This place is mainly for those people who want to experience the backpack life in the bush far away from home and preferably non locals who are coming to Zimbabwe on vacation this is not for luxury but for Backpackers as the name says. The room setups are for a small cozy feeling with someone or people you are already comfortable with and it also has a facility for a group of campers to share and bunk beds.

Lovely, peaceful and beautiful location. I slept like a log and swam happily in their beautifully refreshing, clean pool. The gardens are stunning and Adam and Vicki are such welcoming hosts. I'd happily come to Burke's every time I'm in Zim! Thank you, Olivia.
