One of my favourite Sultan of Ottoman, the striving on Palestine, the hardworking to unite all Muslims, this is Abdul Hamid II Budapest native Theodor Herzl, the leader of the Zionist movement, requested an audience with Sultan Abdülhamid II. When this request was declined, he delivered his offer to the sultan through his close friend, Polish Phillip Newlinsky, in May, 1901. They offered to pay the Ottomans' foreign debts and to provide propaganda for the Ottoman Sultan in Europe in exchange for opening Palestinian lands to Jewish settlement and transferring governance to the Jewish people. The sultan declined this offer with the famous saying: "I won't sell anything, not even an inch of this territory because this country does not belong to me but to all Ottomans. My people won these lands with their blood. We give what we have the way we got it in the first place." Herzl repeated his offer once again the following year, but the answer was the same.

This is the rest place of three of the Sultan, Sultan II Mahmud, Sultan Abdul Aziz, Sultan II Abdul Hamid. Mahmud II (Ottoman Turkish: محمود ثانى‎ Mahmud-u s̠ānī, محمود عدلى Mahmud-u Âdlî; Turkish: İkinci Mahmut; 20 July 1785 – 1 July 1839) was the 30th Sultan of the Ottoman Empire from 1808 until his death in 1839. Abdülaziz (Ottoman Turkish: عبد العزيز / `Abdü’l-`Azīz, Turkish: Abdülaziz; 8 February 1830 – 4 June 1876) was the 32nd Sultan of the Ottoman Empire and reigned between 25 June 1861 and 30 May 1876. He was the son of Sultan Mahmud II and succeeded his brother Abdulmejid I in 1861. Abdul Hamid II (Ottoman Turkish: عبد الحميد ثانی‎, `Abdü’l-Ḥamīd-i sânî; Turkish: İkinci Abdülhamit; 21 September 1842 – 10 February 1918) was the 34th Sultan of the Ottoman Empire and the last Sultan to exert effective control over the fracturing state. Edited on my second visit: I am here for the second time. Nice to be here. My first visit was on Dec 2018 and now I am back again in Sep 2019. My purpose is to pay respect to those great leaders who laid their lives for the cause of Islam and specially for Turks. May their Souls rest in peace

This large octagonal mausoleum is in the Empire style (modelled on Roman architecture), made popular by Napoleon. It was built in 1838, the year before Sultan Mahmut II’s death and is shared by sultans Mahmut II, Abdül Aziz and Abdül Hamit II. Within, Corinthian pilasters divide up walls which groan with symbols of prosperity and victory. The huge tomb dominates a cemetery that has beautiful headstones, a fountain and, at the far end, a good café.

TOMB AND CEMETERY OF MAHMUD II The tomb was constructed on the order of Abdulmecid for his father Mahmud Il in Istanbul. However, later sultans and members of the dynasty were also buried here. When Abdulmecid inherited the throne following the death of Mahmud Il in 1839, he ordered Ohannes Dadyan and Bogos Dadyan brothers, who were architects, to build a tomb for his father. The land used for building the tomb was assigned by the beloved sister of Mahmud II, Esma Sultan. At that time, Esma Sultan had her mansion on this land. The empire-style tomb is covered with white marbles. It is octagonal and climbed by stairs. The dome of the tomb is decorated with a relief wreath flowers. The crystal chandelier hanging from the dome was sent by the Queen of United Kingdom Victoria I. The gilded wall clocks on both sides of the door were given by the French Emperor Napoleon III as gift. The courtyard near the tomb was transformed into a cemetery in 1861 and statesmen, authors and poets most of whom served between 1840 and 1920 were buried here. The cemetery hosts gravestones and sarcophagi which represent the most beautiful examples of Ottoman art of stone dressing.

His reign is recognized for the extensive administrative, military, and fiscal reforms he instituted, which culminated in the Decree of Tanzimat ("reorganization") that was carried out by his sons Abdulmejid I and Abdülaziz. Often described as "Peter the Great of Turkey",[1] Mahmud's reforms included the 1826 abolition of the conservative Janissary corps, which removed a major obstacle to his and his successors' reforms in the Empire. The reforms he instituted were characterized by political and social changes, which would eventually lead to the birth of the modern Turkish Republic.[2] Notwithstanding his domestic reforms, Mahmud's reign was also marked by nationalist uprisings in Ottoman-ruled Serbia and Greece, leading to a loss of territory for the Empire following the emergence of an independent Greek state. In the general structure of the Ottoman Empire, Mahmud's reign was characterized by showing major interest to Westernization; institutions, palace order, daily life, clothing, music and many other areas saw radical reform as the Ottoman Empire opened up to the modernisation

A peaceful cemetery containing the tombs of a number of Ottoman royalty This cemetery contains the tombs of some of the more recently deceased Ottoman royal family. It is a peaceful place, despite the turbulent lives of many of those interred there. There is a restaurant just adjacent to the cemetery as well.

It reminds you the death, as every single one of us should and will die one day, sooner or later, at young age or old age, well and healthy or sick and ill, poor or wealthy, male or female, big or small, at sleep or awake, in hospital or at home, standing or sitting, crying or laughing, willingly or unwillingly. This life should and will indeed end one day, the day you die, that is the end of your world. Good or bad, nice or rude, kind or cruel, you will die at the end. Try to be nice, kind, supportive, polite, generous.
