👍👍 You won't find an actual castle here. There are a few monuments (including a totem pole from Victoria BC) and a couple of friendly stray cats. 👍 I visited this place because it is one of Japan's 100 famous castles. About 70% of Japan's 100 famous castles have been conquered. Among them, this Taga castle ruin is one that requires an overwhelming amount of imagination. I appreciate that there are kind and detailed explanations here and there....

Historic site with restored buildings, plus exhibits depicting medieval life & craft workshops.

Nara-period castle remains including the East Gate & ancient flush toilets, plus a history museum.

👍 100 yen entrance fee, but you can keep your shoes on. No English pamphlet but the QR codes found on exhibits are sufficient, and does a good job explaining the history. The view on the top/4F is nice considering it is not a very tall structure.
