👍👍 Take a day trip out to the west coast’s Muriwai Beach and experience the huge gannet colony. There are a number of viewing platforms that allow you to get quite close to them. Try and go on a nice clear sunny day to make the most of it.

👍 Great freedom camping spot in the car park for 2 nights.... safe but can get busy during the day. The bush walk is nice enough and the big Kauri tree is visible at the car park. The museum is worth a look and reasonably priced.

👍 The car park is 3k from the shore, and you can't take your car further unless you're camping. So to enjoy your picnic lunch you need to earn that.

👍👍 What a awesome little bay. clean toilets, nice grass area inder the trees the bay is easy to access and swim. great for families as there is a little playground. I felt like I found a little gem of a place to come and spend a beautiful summers day.

😐 It's open and wide with Panoramic view. The walkway (horse riding track) leads you down to the beach ( better check the tide beforehand). A loop walk is around 12km, takes around 3 hours. Only one portable toilet in the carpark is available.
