Beautiful spot, nice ad cozy.. But the food.... f.a.bu.l.o.u.s. !! We went early evening on a Sunday which was quiet. But it quickly filled up creating a nice and vibrant atmosphere. This restaurant is a must if you are in Ottawa. The menu pleased each and everyone sitting at our table. They have a decent selection of local craft beer as well. You will have a great time and will want to go back again ! I sure will !

Still a hip, happening joint. Had brunch today with my folks and the menu was interesting and appetizing. I don't usually get too chuffed about brunch but today was notable. Had the Scotch Egg Caesar Salad, which was tasty and well presented. The cheeseburger with fried egg was a good size and very flavourful. It was very busy and noisy, even at 1pm. Too noisy for my parents to make out conversation, so maybe not a good spot for the hearing-challenged (anyone over 50!) Brunch for 5 of us was almost $200 including tax and tip, so budget accordingly. Brunch anywhere is overpriced, but here it didn't feel like I was just paying exorbitantly for plain bacon and eggs! The coffee was good too!

Dinner at the Fraser Cafe. • The atmosphere was buzzing. The restaurant was at capacity. The service was impeccable: friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. The cocktails were beautifully crafted and well balanced. The food was seasonal, fresh and as delicious as we remembered which made us wonder why we haven’t visited in a while?!? • The warm marinated olives olives were a perfect match with the cocktails. The oysters were fresh and the mignonette was delightful. The fresh bucatini pasta had the perfect chew and the sauce was meaty and beautifully balanced. The local mushrooms and duck ham was the surprise of the evening. This dish was packed with flavors. Unfortunately, the crispy cauliflower was our least favorite of the evening. Although colorful and crispy, the flavor fell short. We ended the evening on a sweet note with the delicious banana coconut trifle. • We will not wait as long to return, that’s a promise. Thank you to both the front/back of house for this wonderful evening.

Definitely worth stopping in to this fabulous restaurant. Call ahead for reservations to not be disappointed. We had the shrimp croquette and the beef cheek both were bursting with gorgeous flavours and presentation was stunning. Waitress was great. And finished up with a peach dessert that was so tasty and beautiful.

Great brunch and cute interior. Highly recommend to make reservation since they are so popular! It was a bit expensive for brunch, but all foods were amazing. I had poached eggs, there was tomato jam between english muffin and ham which was the so yum. I will definitely visit again if I have friend from another city.

I’m not one to boast about one specific place but I always find myself doing that with Fraser Cafe! Whether you dine in for dinner, lunch or have a take away dinner you will not be disappointed. Menu is changing constantly so when you come in you can enjoy an abundance of new flavours chef Ross has created for your palette. I can’t say there is one particular dish I enjoyed over others because they are all packed with flavour profiles that leave you wanting more! Cocktails & wine selection are amazing as well. Portion sizes will leave your bellies happy.

It's a really nice place to have a meal, The servers are super nice and polite, we enjoyed our lunch there, something important is that they can accommodate your allergies. I am celiac, gluten free intolerant, and they could make a safe meal for me

Excellent food and excellent service. The food was unpretentious and each item on my plate was a standout. Well-thought out menu, as the flavours were balanced, harmonious, and bursting with flavour. You can taste the care that went into the preparation. Absolutely delicious. The menu is seasonal but for reference I ordered the curried tempura cauliflower (appetizer), the black pepper cornish hen & potato gnocchi (entree), and the pistachio & sumac pavlova (dessert).

I was pleasantly surprised that Fraser Cafe met and exceeded my expectations. From the incredibly tender and juicy duck to the mind blowing polenta, we were suitably impressed. I found the service to be top notch although I recommend grabbing a reservation if you are going during peak hours. The website only allows reservations for non-peak times so it is better to call.

Loved this place so much . Their patio is awesome, so well put together, and so clean . Food wise, everything was soo good, the flavour was just out of this world , the quality of the food was fabulous. Their menu changes often, so it may be a bit hard to find their menu online. Staff was amazing helpful and very accommodating . Really enjoyed this place . Can’t wait to visit again .

We had a casual dinner with friends last night and Fraser Cafe did what they do best: gave us incredibly delicious food in a warmth and cozy atmosphere-this is the epitome of a French Bistro, indulging us in Ottawa to feel in Europe for a little while 😊. Our food was simply delicious but I was particularly taken by the roasted beet salad with avocado crema. Every bite was a new, superb experience- absolutely delightful and delicious! Thank you guys for a lovely evening!

Came here for brunch and it did not disappoint! Absolutely delicious everything - from the coffee, to the toasts, to the greens. I got poached eggs (aka bennys) and they were delicious. However, my partner got the mushroom omelette and it overshone everything else, so highly recommend! Definitely 5 stars and will come back once we’re back to Ottawa.

Just make a reservation here, brunch or dinner! Food is fantastic, service is amazing (speed and personality of staff) and you won’t regret it. We’ve been for both dinner and brunch and enjoyed our experiences at both, flavours are just on point. Highly recommend! Photos are from brunch!

What an incredible place! You're stepping into an upscale, hip, urban gem with a unique focus on incredible flavor combinations in spectacular portion sizes. Definitely worthy of making the trip; the chill atmosphere and friendliness of the staff make this your new date night destination. We came tonight for our third wedding anniversary and their team made the night so special for us. We were quite touched. Thank you to Annie and the entire team for their efforts. ❤️

Was craving a club sandwich, and this turned out to be the best I've had in Ottawa. I'm just used to places that have hard bread, dry chicken, and a dollop of mayo. This was not that. The bread was fresh, the chicken melt in your mouth tender, and the sauce something in between mayo and dill salad dressing but it worked.

No real need to write this review—everyone seems to know Fraser is awesome. Just to say the staff are wonderful, and despite the COVID stress/fatigue all frontliners are facing, they made our night amazing. Creative food done well. Outstanding service. One of our last meals out before baby arrives and so, so worth it.

Really great place! Nice atmosphere and service. Appetizer, cocktails, and dessert were delicious but the mains were fine just didn’t hit the spot as much as the other food they served us. I’d be down to try Fraser again.

We have eaten at Fraser Cafe multiple times and this restaurant never disappoints! Last night we ordered the vegetable tempura, fries and salmon for our appetizers. We both got the duck n roll and the donut for dessert. Everything was exquisite, full of flavour and beautifully presented.Their menu is always changing which is nice for their reoccuring customers to try new things. Staff are very friendly and kind. Highly highly recommend!

My first time here and I enjoyed it very much. I started with the beef tartare. It came with chips and bread and could be a meal by itself. Next came Lamb Ravioli . I thought it was perfect al dente but the two others at the table that had the same dish found the pasta a little firm to their taste.

By far our favourite restaurant in Ottawa area. Excellent service. Attentive staff. Menu is creative and varied. Cocktails and wine list are very nice each time and the staff are very knowledgeable. The place is very cosy, with candles and nooks and small tables. Great for date night.

Just love this place. We have been ordering one of their takeout meals every weekend and is just fabulous! Generous portions, sauces to die for, fantastic pairing of sides with the main meal. This weekend we had the bacon wrapped tenderloin. Last weekend we had the chicken cordon bleu. Each time it was a WOW! I drive in from Kanata to pick this up. It's that good. I really hope they continue these weekly take away meals after things return to a post pandemic normal.

Had an amazing time there Friday. We had a reservation and they had set aside one of the best tables in the house for us. Cocktails were delicious, and each plate was unique and well thought through. Our server was excellent, attentive but not invasive, and the support staff also went above and beyond by continually refilling waters, clearing plates and even offering to refill my cocktail when my server wasn’t around. 5/5 for sure, I see what all the hype is about!

Great food and drinks. Oysters were best I have had in a while. Server had good wine suggestions. Loved the music and ambience. Would have been 5 stars but felt the server was a rushed in all our interactions which I didn't love. At one point taking a menu before we had ordered and at another point getting my drink order and leaving before asking for my husband's only to rush back to ask for it. Maybe they were a understaffed. I would 100% go back another time!

Probably one of the best meals I’ve ever eaten in my life and fantastic service. Kevin made great recommendations and I will definitely be coming back. The food and atmosphere is amazing and I thought the prices were very reasonable. I had to reserve a table for Friday night but it was well worth it! Fraser Cafe mocktails were perfect too. Presentation was beautiful. Food was fantastic and service excellent. This is definitely our favourite restaurant and happily local.

I recently visited Café Fraser, and was thoroughly impressed by the culinary creations served at this world cuisine inspired restaurant. The standout dish of the evening was the filet mignon au jus, a tender cut of beef served with crispy fried square tatters in a rich and creamy purée, accompanied by a selection of perfectly prepared vegetable garnishes. The lamb shank was another standout, slow-cooked to perfection in a hearty sauce and finished with a peppercorn drizzle. The tender meat fell off the bone and was paired perfectly with steamed glazed vegetables. The meal was elevated even further by the perfectly paired, exquisitely sourced beers. The restaurant's focus on locally sourced ingredients was evident in the freshness and quality of the dishes. I highly recommend Café Fraser for anyone looking for a unique and delicious dining experience in Ottawa.

The food and service are always excellent. Perfect spot for a date night or special occasion. The prices look a bit scary but we ordered 2 drinks each, bread service, spilt two “mains” and a dessert and it was under $200. Worth it for the quality and we were STUFFED.

Chicken Satay Slaw was great! Fries were a bit too salty. Busy place, a bit noisy. Service was great. But something was missing overall... for 2 plates and tips it was 65$...

This might’ve been one of my favourite brunch places that I’ve ever been to in Ottawa. The food was so good that now I really want to go back for lunch and dinner. My boyfriend had the huevos rancheros and they were absolutely delicious. I had the sugar shack German pancake with ham and bacon and potatoes and a bunch of other things and it was so delicious. Honestly, I told the waitress it might’ve been one of the best things I’ve ever eaten in my life, it came with a side of homemade Quebec catch up and some maple with bacon and it was absolutely scrumptious. I have to say the prices for beverages is a little high but they’re made really well so you don’t feel like they skimped on them. I would definitely come back here for the ever-changing menu. Our waitress was also very lovely. Thanks for a wonderful brunch.

This was an excellent layout for a museum. The flow of history allowed one to stop in the era of most interest. Truly it would take an entire day to visit and read all of the exhibits. It was an easy walk for our downtown Marriott hotel but be aware winds off the river in November can be chilling and dress warmly. I put I went solo but my sister was with me. She is not a teen, a child or part of a couple so who did you go with category does not work yet is required.

What an incredible, yet unassuming restaurant! I can't believe I have never been here before until last night. Located by the edge of the beautiful New Edinburgh neighbourhood, close to the border of Vanier and downtown, FRASER is truly a gem in Ottawa. We enjoyed every bite of the food -- we ordered the house focaccia with house butter. The focaccia was soft inside and has a crisp outer layer. For the main course, I ordered the ferme rêveuse chicken and pillowy potato gnocchi. The chicken was well seasoned and cooked just right, which I slathered in the mustard celery relish/jus, further elevating the taste and experience -- it was the perfect blend of comfort and unexpected bursts of tanginess from the mustard celery. For dessert, we shared an olive oil cake with blueberry ice cream and fresh strawberries and raspberries. Again, everything was simply delicious and blended well without being too overpowering, I was afraid the cake would have a strong olive oil taste, but it was not noticeable at all. The food presentation was stunning, but the food was genuinely delicious. The portions could be bigger for the price though, so we had to remind ourselves to slow down because we just wanted to devour everything. We will surely be back again to try different dishes as I hear they change their menu. Thanks to the FRASER team for an unforgettable experience, keep serving up truly delicious food!

Frasier Cafe is BY FAR the best restaurant in Ottawa. I lived right beside it for 3 years and went there at least once a week and never EVER had a bad meal there. The menu is small but original and very original. I feel like I would have the same meal over 4 weeks in a row and it would have a subtle twist every time to keep it seasonal! I hope covid doesn't close Frasier Cafe! They have my foodie heart!!! The staff is consistent not a lot of changes and so attentive and sweet and passionate! I hope everyone is doing okay during Covid! :)

We've been to dinner and brunch numerous times at Fraser Cafe and we had our wedding at Table 40. Every time we've been there the food has been amazing, the service exceptional, and the general atmosphere is great. For our wedding they went above and beyond and I would recommend anyone who wants a smallish (40 person cap) wedding or party of any sort to check out Table 40. 5 stars well deserved!

Best food. Tried their set family style dinner menu take out. It was absolutely delicious. Each individual dish was packed in a separate container that could directly go into the oven. The package came with detail instructions on what it contained and the heating instructions for each individual dish. This is by far best restaurant in Ottawa. They just do a fantastic job even for their take out menu.

  • 5/5 Tom Y. 3 years ago on Google
Reviewing this in COVID times but 100% must try. Don't be afraid to drop some of the money on the take out menu. The amount of food they serve basically makes the per meal cost super affordable (ie if you get the 2 person menu, you're going to definitely have leftovers for another meal or two). One of the restaurants in Ottawa that doesn't have a set menu and will work with daily ingredient changes. Creative. Tasty. I was really impressed to find something like this in Ottawa. Take advantage of COVID times to try out something like this for a nice date or family meal.

The restaurant was a bit crowded but the waiter was very good. The steak was fresh but not very tasty. Fish salad is highly recommended because my colleagues found it delicious. Because I got a free ticket, I would give a five-star.

Frasers does things well. Tonight was no exception. A fantastic cocktail, ayummy bottle of wine, and a family meal that not only offered lots in terms of quantity, but paired a number of different flavors that was unexpected, and delicious.

Hey, I am not one to gush, but OH MY GOD... We ordered one of the $90 Dinner for Two gourmet take-out meals this weekend to celebrate our Birthdays. What a exquisite TREAT. The meal was absolutely amazing. The amount of thought and care that went into the menu and preparation of this delectable meal was evident. We've eaten at a lot of nice restaurants across Canada, but this meal, even being take out, was incredible. Generous portions is right...we enjoyed complete dinners two nights in a row. Fantastic value, quality food, and friendly service at pick up. The buzz is true...Fraser Cafe is amazing.

Ambiance and food was great. Only downside was the time limit. We were on our dessert and the server told us the next group (we were 4) was waiting at the door for our spot. We had to finish up and leave within 5 minutes. I would've understood if we were hanging out without drinks or food, but we weren't. A heads up would've been another reasonable solution.

Best restaurant in town, hands down. Has been for over a decade now, the Fraser brothers are a great duo and make the most tasty dishes. The atmosphere is louder but that's because its busy all the time. Getting a table is not a given, book in advance so not to be disappointed. The menu is ever changing so what you get one visit may not be on the menu the next visit, but there is always something you just gotta try.

WOW! This place is a MUST. Prices are on a higher end, but the food is just simply made in peace and harmony by someone who knows how to create, these amazing tasty dishes. It's a small place with open quite kitchen, connected to a bar, with dimmed lights throughout the restaurant. Service is very professional and attentive, but yet friendly and comfortable. Your water will always be filled, your waiters will always be there when you need something, but honestly, you never need anything else. Always busy, so make a reservation, and enjoy. Amazing place for a special occasion. TOP

So disappointed tonight. We’ve been coming to Fraser Cafe for years for special occasions and we have never had a bad meal and the service has always been excellent. We also supported them all through the pandemic with their amazing take home gourmet meals. However, I was totally shocked to see some of the meals that were served at our table of 8 tonight. The portions were tiny compared to before. I ordered the steak Caesar salad and was very disappointed. The steak itself was tasty and well cooked but this dish lacked any of the typical fabulous flavours I have had before and the portion of salad was tiny with a pretty bland dressing. Others had the tuna dish, which was supposed to be a main but was the size of a starter. The service was also nothing to write home about compared to the previous servers we’ve had. Seriously not worth the money anymore, which is so sad as I used to love coming her for a treat.
