Over-hyped and underwhelming. From everything that we had seen online it looked as though this was the place to be. The concept and location are very appealing, but the execution leaves a lot to be desired. We were seated by a server and then when we went to get our food (self serve) our table was taken. The food was ok. Not even close to the best hot dog I have had. It was disappointing considering the price. The Tavern Lager was very light and nothing special. I would recommend going with one of the other beers or drinks if you do choose to visit. Also, the bathrooms didn't have enough capacity considering the number of people that were there. Finally, the mandatory gratuity at a self serve restaurant doesn't sit well. Considering that you order, wait for the food, bring it to your table, and seat yourself (at least in our case after our original table was taken) it seems crazy that they charge a mandatory gratuity. I was excited to try this place and was disappointed.

Really nice patio bar within the park. Nice views of the Ottawa River and Parliament Hill. Ample seating with some nice booths with fire pits. Self serve food and drinks now but works out just fine. Drinks were nice but a bit pricey but I guess that’s what you pay for a nice location.

Excellent view and atmosphere but the food and drinks were mediocre. We were very excited to try the hot dogs, tacos and drinks but we were disappointed that it was overpriced and lacked flavour. I personally did not enjoy the self serve concept and standing in lines every time we wanted a drink. You are only paying for the views.

One of the best hotdogs I’ve had in a while… so many different options in food and drinks. Worth for the price. Very filling. Highly recommended !!

Being a foodie who came from India visited this place with a friend and ordered tacos and chips along with Mint lemonade was very disappointed with the server who was constantly roaming around us and staring us. The food was just okay. I would recommend this place to enjoy the weather and the view from the hill.

What a unique experience. Stunning location and views with a casual atmosphere. Beers flow and there’s hotdogs available if you get peckish. Come for the views and stay for how easy going it is.

Such a great spot to be on a warm summer's night. Seating is first come so be sure to get there either before happy hour or late in the evening. There's a small bar with great drinks that you walk up to to order and a poutine shack around the corner. It's a 10 minute walk away from the main road so nice and quiet. Great experience.

Great ambiance - outdoors with gas fires and space heaters. Bistro tables and chairs available, or the comfy outdoor couches. Blankets are provided to keep cozy as the night gets cooler. Was disappointed that there was no live jazz on a night when the website said their would be, but quite enjoyed the live jazz last summer when I managed to catch it. Food is okay. Overpriced (as expected for the location). They sell "gourmet hot dogs" - well, the toppings are gourmet, but the franks are just cheap wieners - not fine sausages. Last summer (2017), I got ice cream after sunset, so was surprised and disappointed to discover that this year the ice cream is not available after 7pm when Bridgehead packs up and leaves.

Although the prices are a bit more than I was comfortable seeing, the spot,the huge washrooms nearby for the family, and the large grassy spots to sit and picnic tables to watch the river, all add up to a far more delightful moment in time. The scenic views are relaxing and awe inspiring to those of us who take the time to stand and think. The gallery nearby was worth the stop!

Love the atmosphere and cocktail selection. The bags of popcorn were outstanding! The view is wonderful and all round a great dining experience. It has a very simple set up the required guests to go to the bar and food counter separately to order. So be prepared for pay as you go style.

Wonderful atmosphere, delicious drinks, there was live music, everyone having a great time, staff was super friendly. Would highly recommend an evening out at tavern on the hill if you are visiting Ottawa or even just living there!

Opening day of phase 1 in an Ontario! Fantastic food, service, and weather. Can't ask for more than that! Staff was super good about customizing for dietary needs.

Food was surprisingly good considering normally places like this charge a lot and you’re playing for the ambience/view/aesthetics. They need to be more organized with inventory though as many soft drink options were missing. Also the guy who served me had a bit of an attitude.

Visited with a girlfriend of mine, and we spent a very nice evening. We ordered some cocktails and tacos. The view and atmosphere are both really good, it is a good place to chill and for girls night out. The experience is before COVID though. Not sure if their operating hour is as normal during this special time.

Really nice place even during covid the wait times are not bad at all except for the food line, it was a bit of a long line when I went but it was probably a busy time. The drinks bar was quick for drinks. Good place overall, the view is fantastic, it's in a awesome location, and just a nice place to go for a date, a drink after work, or just as a tourist to look upon Parliament Hill / the Ottawa River.

Horrible experience here. The only good thing about this location is the view and thats it. Food was okay, however it was overpriced and tasted a bit store bought or prepared way in advanced. I ordered the chicken tacos and they gave me one taco for 5 dollars plus tax in a cheap cardboard take out container. Despite the food, the staff was the worst experience. They told us to keep our mask on if we're walking around in an outdoor setting, which I obeyed, however, NONE OF THEM WERE WEARING A MASK. Alongside this, the whole time I was there (about 40 min), they just stood and talked. Not to mention this is a "self-serve" place so they didn't have any responsibilities to do, and yet on the bill they automatically added 15% tip. FOR WHAT? I didn't want to pay a 15% tip to a bunch of university students who did nothing the whole time as well as preach one thing yet do another. Beyond disappointed, they do not deserve the 4 star rating they have.

Go for the beautiful view, chill and friendly atmosphere and drinks! It’s all pub food and the hot dogs were good. Really nice location and great music! I plan on visiting again; it’s a good spot to take visitors to the city.

Wow! The venue is tucked away on Major Hill's Park, with views of parliament and the art gallery. Fabulous venue location. Excellent vibe and okay food ( it's all served in take out format). Bar is great.
