I didn't like how you had to pay right away at the front then sit down.. we have a large family and by the time my family ordered omg... and then the waitresses aren't even attentive. It's an awful set up. The food is alright.. Plates have gotten smaller, you used to get a big plate. Skip them and go to the old school, Macs La Sierra up the street. Where you are treated right!

Still serving in styrofoam containers. I find it hard to believe they can't hire a dishwasher or two. You are also supposed to clean after yourself and order at the counter. I used to enjoy a nice family breakfast here on Sunday morning, but those days seem to be gone. Very poor business model and enough to keep me from returning.

We made reservations for 8 after graduation. We were seated in a timely manner. The waitress took great care of us. She was absolutely amazing and attentive it was busy but she did a great job serving us. The food was great. You definitely got more than your monies worth. I definitely recommend El Charritos if you are ever in Albuquerque, NM.

Service was friendly and the food was really good. Definitely worth going again when I visit ABQ. Yes, at the time of this review, they are serving in Styrofoam containers and they have limited staff. I get it if that turns people off. But the food is good and since I was traveling, what I didn't finish was ready for me to take. No complaints on my part.

Food was actually good, however every single thing you order is served on either plastic or styrofoam. The amount of trash/pollution this restaurant is producing is astonishing. I really feel like a news reporter would have a good story here exposing the sheer wastefulness of this restaurant. When you are in the dining room there is a over flow corner just stocked with styrofoam takeout boxes and plastic ware. It’s sad to see the angle this restaurant has taken to save money. There has to be a better way.

The birthday breakfast includes the carne adovada plate (with beans and rice), papas and a chili relleno smothered in hatch green chili and cheese on the side, and a couple of sopapillas and honey for good measure. Bonus is leftovers for tomorrow 😁

First impressions: small parking the way to order is low key annoying. It's a local favorite if you know them well apparently. It feels like you're at someone's house cause there's not a lot of dining area. I got an enchilada plate and my mom got one of each, presentation was A 1 qnd it was delicious as it looked! Definitely worth the wait. The chile was tasty.

Food was awesome with huge portions. The service is good bur a little weird because you order and pay before you sit down. Other than that odd part this place is excellent.

The food was tasty. I suppose they are short staffed. You have to order at the front counter and pay for your meal before you can sit down. Unless you know the person taking the order then you can order and sit and wait to pay until you are done eating. The waitresses did as best they could to male sure our drinks were refilled though.

The food is glorious. The service was alright. The waitress was cool she was attentive to refills & made sure we felt welcome. Atmosphere, well it was packed, (arrived in around 2) this place is popular. What I didn't like about this place is having to use the menue upon entry & waiting in the crowded foyer. Shoulder to shoulder no one was wearing a mask & was just ridiculous. Overall, gonna be ordering our food to go next time.

This was my first time here it is a bit different because you order at the counter before your seated. This is authentic New Mexican food!! Reminded me of my grandma's food.

If you like good food but don't mind not having any service this is the place for you. The food is delicious as always. You have to order and pay right away at the counter (Id probably even look on line if I were you so you're ready) just don't leave the tip, my sister left 20 percent thinking that was going to buy us service, we got less than anyone in there, they already had our money, they weren't dumb! Not like us..

Been eating here since 1988. Lots of regular customers. Always clean, good service and food is consistent quality is consistent. The ART project hurt these good people. I only have breakfast there due to my schedule but menu has a good selection.

The best New Mexican food in NM! Dine in, take out, whatever, the food and service is always perfection! Support local! Owned & operated by an amazing family who welcomes everyone. It's my absolute favorite!

This place was PACKED. While I see some complaints in other reviews, I see this as a good omen; it means they're doing something right. Dude... it's a ton of good food at a really reasonable price. $16 for a tamale, enchilada, taco, rellenos, rice, and beans, smothered in your choice of red or green and absolutely carpet bombed with cheese. Then we got sopapillas and honey. It was perfect. The five of us were positively elated with all our meals. If you're going to cry because you have to wait for a little bit, this may not be the place for you. If you want good food, are willing to be kicked back and show a little patience, check it out. Service was great for how busy they were. Everyone was very friendly.

I Enjoy El Charrito's food. It is not only flavorful and tasty, it's just so good. You also get more than enough for your money. The owners are family and they work well together. They are friendly, beautiful and caring people. Everything flows efficiently. They are very accommodating, everyone matters and they tend to please and they accomplish just that.

Great place to dine in. Had the combo and loved it. Mum had a salad and loved it as well. Load of decent grub for a low price. Place was clean and staff were wonderful. Will come back! Certainly worth a stop in if you're in the area. Also do take aways. (Place is empty in photo as we were the last ones out we took so long to eat it all)

You stand in line when you enter the door to place your order and pay then you seat yourself. Staff brings your plates to your table. Food portions are very generous. Workers are very friendly and helpful.

Staff are always happy and helpful, food is great. They have the best green Chile cheese burger, usually eat half for lunch and the rest for dinner. Yes they are that big and FRESH meat all the time.

Every single time I visit Burque I eat here! Food is the best in town, service is amazing and prices are great!! Best sopapillas I've had since my Abuela passed. Go eat there, you'll not regret it!!!

Took my family here as they visited from Nevada. They asked me if i could take them to a nice New Mexican food place, and El Charritos was the first place that came to mind. They loved it, and they were very impressed with their chile relleno plates and the 'amazing' sopapillas! At first, they thought it weird that we had to order before we sat down, but I asked the owner about this, and she politely explained why. They do this because they do not have enough wait staff to effectively serve at the tables, which immediately made sense. I'm thankful that I found a 'hit', quaint, place for my family and it's always a great feeling taking them to a restaurant that showcases the best of what New Mexico has to offer. Thank you, El Charritos, for offering my family a great experience, great service, and a lasting, tasty, and warm experience. But, most of all, the best chile rellenos they have ever had!

Good food great service. The queso with chorizo was amazing and the steak burger was really good to. Left feeling very full at a reasonable price as well.

Always a pleasant yummy experience. Amazing crosses ✝️ displayed just beautiful. Sad to hear they close early because of no help available.

Born and raised here. Tried numerous NM food restaurants and by far El Charritos is the most authentic that I know of (except the green chili, which is all one can get unless you roast and prepare it yourself), but is passable. The carne adovada does things to your pallet like no other. It is family owned and operated by a few generations of family members and all are simply wonderful. Just my luck, I live very close to their location.

I ordered the Tamales plate. Came with two tamales, refried rice, refried beans, cheese, two sopapillas and smothered in red sauce. I am sure the tamales are good if you like red sauce but I don't. I should've asked for the sauce on the side but didn't want to be a fuss. The inside is cute. They also have a clean shaded patio outside. Fast service and good waiters/waitresses. I'm just particular about my tamales, definitely no red sauce next time. I look forward to trying more dishes in the coming future, but definitely with no red chili sauce. 😋

It was my first time there - it was surprising to have to order at the counter. Then you're served in take out containers and you have to clean the table after. It's the self check of dine in service. Won't be back..

First time there. My breakfast just blew me away. I loved every bite. True NM cooking. The whole staff just great. Very clean restaurant. They have a customer with me.
