👍 Don't judge a book by its cover! This place may have wood paneling and decor straight out of Grandma's house, but dang this place is good! This was my first visit and decided to get the cheese enchiladas with red and green (Christmas). I added a few fried eggs on top and holy smokes were they good (... Don't know about stranger things, but yes Breaking Bad got me here. That said, this is my kinda place. A little dinner that has survived the interstate taking out Route 66. The reason it is still going is because the service is phenomenal, the food is excellent breakfast fare and the place is inviting. If you don't like diners, probably best to head on down the road, but for my money this place is excellent.

Don't judge a book by its cover! This place may have wood paneling and decor straight out of Grandma's house, but dang this place is good! This was my first visit and decided to get the cheese enchiladas with red and green (Christmas). I added a few fried eggs on top and holy smokes were they good (and cooked perfectly)! I used my sopapillas to scoop up my food and I was in heaven. The staff is straight up amazing. Great customer service. I never even saw the bottom of my coffee mug because they were so quick to fill it. Everyone was friendly. I give this place 4.75 stars because the booth I was in was pretty destroyed. It does add to the ambiance, if you will, but it was also a tad uncomfortable. Will definitely be back.

The food is excellent, fast and friendly service. They'll be closed Monday November the 7th 2022 for the series Blue Sky to air on site. It's an old place in need of some repairs. Easy access and parking around back.

Truly, one of the very best New Mexican restaurants in town. The Owner is also the Cook and NEVER fails to provide EXCELLENT meals consistently and quickly. He is a MASTER of his craft and an inspiration to watch. Plus, his food tastes pretty darn good. Red chile is a must here since it is more of an orange color and has a sweet taste. I don't know how he does it, but if I had to pick a last meal on death row, it would be any plate from this restaurant! If you haven't been here, you are MISSING OUT!

Looks like a sketchy hole in the wall. The food is amaze-balls! Never had such good rice and I've had homemade Mexican rice! Chicken enchiladas weren't spicy (yay!) and were super flavorful!

Bad -Honestly it’s just food. Nothing is that special and some items are not seasoned at all. I went with 2 other people and we all got different orders and no one was blown away by their meals. It’s equivalent to a above average home meal. -The waitresses are not the best. One waitress shows visible attitude and try’s to blame the customers for incorrect meals. Their are some goods but, any incorrect orders will not be taken nicely. Good -The waitresses are rapid. You won’t get through half a cup before being asked “do you want a refill”. - The environment is amazing. The place is and feels like an old fashion diner. - There is a large selection of menu items.

My pilgrimage continues and this place launched me further like a satellite slingshot. Truly a good old good one, the chili rellenos emerged from the authentic AF Americana atmosphere like an armadillo digging my lawn at night: shameless and bold. I’ll be back whenever I can.

Working by this place for the last month. Saw that it was always packed. Had a chance to drop by. They had all kind of food I enjoy. However it was lunch time so I thought I would try one of their sandwiches. Tried there club sandwich. Pretty good. A little bit better than average. The fries were just right. Fair price for food. Non alcoholic beverages A little pricey. All in all a good experience , efficient staff and great Cooks. If you happen to be up around Central and 98th your hunger will be satisfied.

We love New Mexican food but this was not good at all. The tortillas were bright white. The cheese was like that liquid cheese. Beens seemed like canned. Red Chile was ground beef. Staff was rude. Banging silverware around while we were trying to eat. We should have turned around and walked out when we came in together & a server looked right at my husband & acted like we weren't there. I had to say "May we sit here?" She then took our orders and went put of her way to serve my husband before me. She said it "wasn't personal" We sat at the counter because the booths had holes in them that were partially taped in the available table. One of the worst dining experiences we've ever had.

Stopped in to see where Breaking Bad and Stranger Things were filmed at and was pleasantly surprised at how good the food was! Got breakfast burritos which were on point and the green chile was good! The polish sausage with onions and peppers was also awesome! Great little gem that has a lot of history.

Nestled in SW Albuquerque, the Cafe 65 Diner is an absolute gem for those seeking fast, delectable Mexican and American breakfast and lunch options. One of the standout qualities of the Cafe 66 is the generous portion sizes. Whether you have a hearty appetite or are looking to share a meal with a friend, the serving sizes here will leave you satisfied. The meals are not only substantial but also incredibly flavorful. From traditional Mexican breakfast staples like huevos rancheros to classic American favorites like fluffy pancakes their menu offers a wide variety of options to suit every palate. As a person who appreciates efficiency, I was pleased to discover that the service at the Cafe 66 is exceptionally fast. The waitstaff is well-trained and efficient, ensuring that your order is taken promptly and delivered to your table with a smile. This makes it an ideal spot for those who need a quick meal without compromising on taste or quality. While the Charming Diner is generally a cozy and serene spot, it's important to note that it can get quite busy on Sunday mornings. Locals have discovered the secret of this diner, and it has become a popular choice for breakfast, especially on weekends. However, despite the bustling atmosphere, the staff remains composed and does their best to accommodate all guests. Speaking of the staff, their friendliness is worth applauding. From the moment I walked through the door, I was greeted with warm hospitality and made to feel right at home. The attentive and courteous nature of the staff creates a welcoming environment, adding an extra layer of enjoyment to the dining experience. The Charming Diner truly lives up to its name by offering a cozy and inviting ambiance. The decor is tastefully done, featuring rustic touches that add to the overall charm. The small diner atmosphere creates an intimate setting, perfect for catching up with friends, enjoying a solo breakfast, or even a cozy date.

The food was amazing, came out really fast. I got an omelette and it was really good, not too fluffy. My husband got the enchilada plate with red and he loved it. The menudo was really good too!

Staff is great food is amazing chilie has really amazing flavor wish it was a little hotter I really recommend the cheeseburger add chopped green chilies and upgrade to red chili cheese fries red Chile cheese fries are some of my favorite I love chili cheese fries overall, this place is really good. Gets a little bit busy on the weekends and it’s a little bit smaller of a restaurant, but the wait time is not that bad weekdays tend not to get that busy in the mornings overall great place

I've tried a couple of times to take a friend to Route 66 Cafe and it was closed both times. I even checked to make sure it was open before we went. The first time , the info on line indicated it was open, but it wasn't when we got there. I was told there wasn't enough staff. Today, my friend and I tried again to go there. I called to make sure it was open. The person who answered assured me they were open. My fruend and I arrived only to find it closed for renovations. Very frustrating.

Every time I've been there it has been great. The waitresses are kind, the atmosphere is cozy and the food is scrumptious! (I like to get their breakfast burrito with Christmas sauce). Plus, I like knowing many music videos and tv shows have been filmed there 🤠

First time here, I had a combo plate with red and green chile. Got to eat a little of everything. My granddaughter had huevos rancheros. She liked it

Other than the recent price increases, all was very good to great: Service: Great (got there at opening, to be fair); Pancakes are as good as any, anywhere: excellent! Juevos rancheros were very good, except a tad mild.

This restaurant is very small for all the noise going on. From them slamming the dishes to the cook ringing the bell, cashiers talking way too loud. Just wanted to bring it to their attention that it was way too loud. Some customers are not able to take it too Noisy Remember some people have PTSD. Or some other issue. Just saying it doesn’t have to be that noisy.
