I started getting into coffee 18 months ago. I've had it nearly every day since and have launched myself into learning as much about it as I can. I sought out a highly regarded coffee shop in Amsterdam. Sadly, despite the good reviews, I had the worst coffee I've ever had. It was the most under-extracted, practically homeopathic, coloured water I've had the displeasure of paying for. I ordered a 'pour over' and perhaps they used a sieve as a filter rather than paper because the number of large grounds at the bottom of the decanter was bizarre - there should be none - and the colour of the coffee was far too light. Really disappointing at 5.75€. Granted, having read the other reviews, the espressos and milk coffees that they make look good and are reviewed well, but my experience was real and it was poor. Hopefully they can learn from this. If I were home I would have sent it back and asked them to remake it, but I didn't feel comfortable doing that here. The shop itself is pleasant, everyone seems friendly and they have a good stream of clientele.

I make it my mission to hunt down the best coffee places in every city. This place definitely delivered! They offer pour-over, which is my preferred brewing method. The owner/barista recommended a very fitting alternative to my oft-wanted Ethiopian sourness - a Colombian origin that was out of this world. My wife's cappuccino was on point, with the froth lasting til the last sip. The vibe of the place is on point as well. I felt like taking off one star for lack of comfortable seating... But the coffee made up for it! Just be prepared to sit on a stool or bench. Not much room inside. So I'd say it's a great place to grab a cup of amazing coffee in Amsterdam, but not the sort of place you'll want to sit at for hours chatting. Enjoy!

Lovely coffee place. Ordered the Matcha, it was really good. The place is very welcoming, and so is the staff. I'll gladly come back and thus recommend this place!

Amazing coffee! Tastes pretty much what the box states. The customer service is great too. Definitely some of the best coffee in Amsterdam

A really lovely cafe and the staff was super friendly and helpful. There were limited seats but you won’t regret coming here to have a coffee and maybe get some beans. I like the vibe. It was calm, free and modern. Will definitely come back again.

Although the coffee was nice and the staff were lovely I am quite surprised that there was no menu, no price in items and €9.50 for filter coffee and a cookie felt really expensive…I wish there was a sign to say where the coffee beans are from. Also wanted to buy beans but for 250g the price ranged from €15?? To some over 25 and as a coffee lover it was cheeky to not have any prices…I understood it is a sustainable coffee but there was no information about it so was not sure about this information. The peanut chocolate cookie was great and decaf coffee was nice but when asked for the beans it would be nice to have information about coffee producers.

Great staff! Great coffee with expertise on niche global coffee brands. A nice neighbourhood atmosphere, dog friendly. Far and away the best coffee place in Amsterdam.

Cozy small café close to the Dam. They do great coffee for takeaway, but there's also a couple chairs if you'd like to drink inside. Their sweets are also quite good. It's a nice spot to drop by mid-afternoon for a quick coffee and chat with coworkers.

The cappuccino and iced flat white was great. I also really like that the cappuccino comes on a small tray with an extra glass water. Service was a bit unwelcoming, there was no menu and we really had to ask what kind of coffee specialties they served. The service seemed annoyed from our few simple question, but maybe it was just a bad day. Still rating 5 Star because of the great coffee and nice location.

This place does coffee so we’ll it is up there amongst the best I’ve ever had. Their roast is so nutty and an incredible depth of flavour, so much so I had to bring a bag back to the UK with me. The fattest peanut butter cookie and thickest slab of banana bread were just superb. Ignore comments about cost, you should pay proper money for a quality product. Had two coffees every day I was in Amsterdam and wish I couple import them to Hackney!!

Americano, cappuccino, espresso macchiato all excellent. The biscuits - raisin & oat, peanut chocolate & oat and a brownie are also excellent- my favourite being the peanut chocolate & oat.

Absolutely amazing decaf coffee, can highly recommend the cortado. The coffee itself has a strong roasted salted caramel flavor. Finally a good strong cup.

I've never had food here. Only coffee, it's a nice to go place in city center!! Great coffee, very yummy !! They're quick! Not sure if I'll sit there because it's not huge and it's very popular so lots of people in and out so I might find it disturbing if I stayed there. (Thus the low rating for atmosphere)

Indeed all roads lead to coffee. I was just walking around the city and bumped into this lovely cafe. There is a dog in the cafe which makes it more lovely. Iced americano is wonderful with its taste, definitely would visit again if I am in the city.

Dropped by this little gem for a taste of familiar coffee and a reprieve from the lovely Amsterdam precipitation. I was pleasantly surprised!!!! The atmosphere picked me up just as much as the coffee after a day and a half of travel. The baristas were a pleasure to speak with and proved knowledgeable + informative. I didn’t expect to see Onyx coffee on this side of the world, but I did and they’re representing it well! Keep up the good vibes!!!

Delicious specialty coffee from US roastery Onyx coffee. Small with just a few seats. Banana bread and cookie as a pastry options. Cute and lovely!

Really nice place with friendly personnel for a quick (or longer) break. The coffee is really good and if you want you can add a small bite. Worth a visit when you’re in the neighbourhood.

Always a lovely welcome. Great tasting coffee. Served with a glass of water which is perfect. They bake their morning buns, banana bread and cookies on site so you can be lucky as I was today and get a fresh warm bun with your coffee. You can sit outside or inside and admire the local buildings and planes passing overhead.

For the best specialty coffee in Amsterdam Centrum, look no further than Hummingbird. You’ll only find top shelf, tasty coffees here, paired with wonderful treats, a warm and cozy atmosphere, and on sunny days... the perfect outdoor seating for soaking up the sun. As a frequent visitor to Amsterdam and once-local, Hummingbird is always my first stop in the city.

Bad staff; they are very rude and not supportive. I would prefer to go for De Koffieschenkerij coffee shop to have a great coffee taste and good atmosphere!

👍 A cozy restaurant with a view. I liked those Avocado chips very much. Comparatively budget friendly in central Amsterdam. (More ideal for a coffee date.) They are providing white bread with steak. . . PS: Don’t forget to reserve a table and visit the restaurant.
